This is a very comfortable, well-run hotel in the heart of the Centro Historico of San Luis Potosi. It's reasonable, but offers well-appointed rooms, great bathrooms, and responsive service. You cannot go wrong with this location, right at the Plaza Fundadores, and steps away from the Plaza San Francisco, with its back streets of quirky craft-brew serving restaurants.
Inside the rooms, you will find comfortable furnishings and excellent room service. If you ask for a room on a high floor facing the back, you will take in a great view of the city including several Spanish colonial churches and the hills to the south. With the lack of greenery in the desert area, the tiny little courtyard pool is a pretty oasis for guests. I was able to enjoy cool evening breezes there.
Most of the fellow guests appeared to be on business travel related to the extensive auto industry in the area. The front desk sent up an engineer who fixed the lock on my safe. The beds were really fine. A slight (first world) complaint would be the curtains and carpets might be a bit outdated. I feel awkward even pointing that out and don't wish to ding the hotel for that.
The Wi-Fi is free and quite adequate. The on-site breakfast buffet at their restaurant is highly recommended with an excellent Gordita chef-station and sweet service. Right outside their entrance are two to three coffee shops. Within a five minute walk are two excellent Mezcal bars and restaurants.
They charge your credit card up front for the entire stay rather than charge it upon check out. So that is wierd but perhaps that is the common practice here. read more
