Do not judge this hotel by its exterior - the outside looks a bit bland, but just step into the lobby - someone with a very good eye for funky but classy design has been here. I hereby nominate this the "Alpine Funk" hotel of 2013.
Service was extremely friendly at the front desk, bar and restaurant. Price wasn't bad - it was just 20 CHF higher than the brewery/hotel nearby, and that looked way more basic. Net was we had a great night and I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
The room styling was very different - and apparently they have a few variants so ask a bit about which one you'll get; they were happy to show us the room first. We ended up in the "new style" room (I'll attach a picture), which we liked, but might not be the design aesthetic for everyone's taste. There were more traditional options available as well.
Drinks and dinner was great (though meat dishes are a bit pricey, I'll assume that's a Swiss thing rather than this specific restaurant). Breakfast buffet had everything I'd want, including fresh squeezed orange juice, excellent Bircher Muesli and strong coffee.
In the morning after breakfast, we went out the front door and watched a flock of sheep get herded down the mountain by a couple guys and their hard working dogs.
All in all, glad we drove a couple miles after hearing the high hotel prices in Saint Moritz - this place might not have the high end shopping, but had more than enough charm for us and nearly the same mountain views. read more
