More expensive than the dumps in La Linea and cheaper than Gib. This was a fantastic lodging experience. We had never stayed on a houseboat and it was great. I opted for the larger "modern" boat which was the 2nd biggest for two of us. It had a queen bed, a small but regular bathroom (not a wet bathroom like the smaller units), a large kitchen/ living room and an awesome upper deck on the roof. The views of the Rock and the harbor from the roof deck were stunning - it was a great place for cocktails and sunset watching both evenings we were there. I was super impressed by how well organized this accommodation was including the self check-in, the codes for access, the printed instructions in the boathouse, etc. Any questions I asked via What's App were answered quickly. The parking was free in the marina lot. Also they had free bikes to use which we did when we rode into Gibraltar on our second day. The kitchen for being small was well equipped. We liked that they had a water dispenser so we did not have to buy extra bottle watered. Two minor distractions were the current water restrictions imposed by the town which meant no running water between 23:00 and 6:00 (not the fault of the boathaus) and the fact that the public walkway was right on the other side of the fence from the boat dock. It wasn't as private as it could have been but it was rarely noisy. We loved our stay here since it was so unique and charming.

Amazing Views aboard Adventurous Accommodations. This IS Yacht Rock...sort of…read more Maybe not a yacht but your very own 322sq/ft houseboat with a huge view of the Rock of Gibraltar. And sunsets. But really the Rock. That's why you came all this way. Cost Skip the high priced £££ hotels in Gibraltar and stay ~13min walk to the boarder for much less €€€. I paid around €100/nt through Booking dot com which I almost exclusively use in Europe and Asia. Safety Controlled/Gated access to Marina 1 which is the closest to the boarder along with free parking feet away. The houseboat has an electronic lock so no keys to carry/lose. I felt totally safe. Boarder Unless you need to be in Gibraltar early or the majority of the time, stay in Spain. A quick walk, easy crossing, and 10min walk, busses or taxis will wiz you across the active runway and into a land of Fish & Chips among other things. The view from here is better. Amenities The houseboat is a boat so this is not an option for those who require accommodations. But if you're willing to give it a try, almost anyone can hang here for a couple nights. There's a galley with hot plate, pod coffee maker, small fridge, and sink along with plates, glasses, etc.. Perfect for preparing your afternoon apertivo/Happy Hour snacks for the roof top deck but more on that later. The sleeping is peaceful and the boat does rock slightly. The full bed was more comfortable than some hotels I've visited throughout Spain this trip. There's also a double bunk and sofa bed. Perfect for 1, 2 or maybe 3 but after that it's going to be tight. The Bathroom This is a boat and the head is small with integrated shower. Does not smell and easy to use. You'll get the hang of it. Embrace the adventure. You might even like being able to sit on the toilet while showering. I won't judge. The Deck Here's where it all comes together. With a table for 4, lighting, umbrella, and a couple deck nice chairs this is where I spent my mornings and evenings. There's a market behind the bus station, about 6min walk to stick up on snacks and wine to enjoy the sunsets. Or get up early and watch the sun rise behind the rock. It's very peaceful. Boat Haus is one of the most unique hotels I've visited and if my travels find me in Gibraltar again, this is where I want to be. Gracias! 1000th Yelp Review!

It was conveniently located to jet across the boarder to scope out Gibraltar yet is better positioned on the Spanish side of the boarder for delicious tapas and good nightlife. I slept really well and the next morning we enjoyed the amazing selection at the buffet breakfast then I went for a swim in the pool before we checked out - wonderful! The only things to note were that the pool is unfortunately only open 10am - 7pm but that was ok for us in the end. They also have very secure on site parking which is €10 per night and very convenient. I'd recommend this place - great value compared to other places we found and the front desk staff was super helpful!

The compound is divided in two parts by the Málaga-Cadíz highway but the sides are connected by an underground crosswalk and both have a pool with lounge chairs. There is a convenience store next door for your snacking needs if you feel overwhelmed by Andalusian menu and don't feel like joining locals and travelers alike at the hotel restaurant. The highway noise can be a bit annoying but that's until you immerse into local ambiance. And it does get quiet at night).

The bathroom was also very tiny, but clean, and stocked with the usual amenities. Some notes: -It can get VERY loud. The rooms all face out on the bar area which can disrupt your sleep if you're in bed before midnight. Bring earplugs. The night we were there they were having a huge party and there was a man playing the guitar and singing. We actually opened the windows of our room to listen, but if you are trying to sleep, this might be an issue. -There is free wifi in the lobby. Just ask the front desk for a password. -They will stow your bags for you if you arrive and your room is not ready. -Free buffet breakfast that was quite good. We enjoyed mimosas and toast in their lovely cafe. There is yogurt, ham, cheese, and coffee available as well. -No television in the room. We didn't care, but if that matters to you, just an FYI. -There is a small shop and a spa on site if you're so inclined. I think we paid 75 euros for our room and it was worth every penny. It's close to the dock if you're planning on taking the ferry to Tangier, and also walkable from the bus station if you arrive that way. (We took the bus from Sevilla.) Highly recommended if you're in Tarifa!

Hotel stays aren't determined by fixtures, fittings or facilities, though - it's the time you have that make them. And the time we had was fantastic. We had a great meal in the buzzy bar/restaurant (a mixture of local tuna and local beef, if memory serves), a stroll round the block on a summer's evening for a couple more drinks followed by a great night's sleep. The next morning, up for breakfast and a wander round the lovely old town (which the hotel is at the heart of). Objectively speaking, La Sacristia was good. But for some reason we just had an amazing time - so I'll always remember it very fondly.

L'Boutique Tarifa is, per its name, a little boutique hotel in the town of Tarifa. The staff is…read moresuper-friendly and helpful. When we arrived, close to midnight, I really wanted to go see the lights of Tangiers, which I'd read were very visible from the Plaza del Miramar. The owner very kindly offered to drive around town with us, to show us the sites, right then. How cool is that? The hotel was easy to find, even with our lying Google Maps lady's directions. Small, practical, family-run hotel with chic contemporary style. Very personal and relaxed atmosphere. Rooms are cheerful, clean, and meet all the standard needs. Bath has a sizable shower, by Euro standards. Their combination of IKEA and vinyl decals made for pretty sleek boutique hotel decor! Atmosphere was perfect for this Boho surfing/beach town! They use conventional keys, and you get a blue key for your room, plus silver key to access the hotel at all hours. Free Wifi with strong connection!!! This hotel is conveniently located near authentic Spanish restaurants and two grocery stores. Tarifa is a small town, so it's difficult to get lost. You are pretty safe finding your way around whether walking or driving here, though driving you will be hampered by one-way streets (as with any town we visited in Spain). The downtown area is where all the sites are, as well as the trendier restaurants. It did make more sense for us to drive to the downtown coastal area, when sightseeing (Castillo de Guzmán, Puerto de Tarifa, Plaza del Miramar, Isla de Tarifa, etc.). In the off-season it was not difficult to find metered street parking, although I can imagine this would be difficult in the summer months. Tarifa is a very cool casual beach town, with a Cali-type feel. L'Boutique Tarifa embodies this feeling, and offers very reasonable rates on informal accommodations with all you need, and no hype or fuss, which is perfect for a beach stay.
