This might be the nicest hotel/resort I have ever been to in my life...and by nicest I mean…read moreluxurious, comfortable, relaxing, charming, expansive and much much more. Lets start with the wonderfully friendly and efficient staff. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with smiling faces. Everyone seemingly loves there job...I get it as its a wonderful place to be. We had a sea view suite and they added 2 roll away cots in the sitting area for our children. There was plenty of room for the 4 of us. We had a great patio where we could sit and have a glass of wine while they slept. My husband played golf 3 of the 4 days and said it was a great course (I believe you have to have a handicap to play, otherwise he would have taken my 8 year old son with him one of the days.) We never left the hotel for a meal as the food is so good. Usually we try to find some authentic local food restaurants, but Finca Cortesin ropes you in so that you don't want to leave. We ate at Don Giovanni 2 nights which we loved. We found the pizzas and pasts to be excellent and a great atmosphere just across the road from the front entrance. We had lunch one day at the beach club which is pricey for children (no kids menu) but enjoyable with a bottle of rose, paella and some great salad options. One night we fed the kids at the more casual bar patio which has bar food and a children's menu (very reasonably priced kids food) and brought them upstairs to bed so we could try the adults only Raw Kabuki restaurant which is very expensive but absolutely delicious--sashimi, fried rice, tempura, carpaccio--small, excellent and not stuffy. Again, the servers made the whole experience terrific. I would be extremely remiss if I didn't mention the breakfast--best breakfast I have ever had at a hotel. You are given fresh yogurt, fruit, a fresh bread basket with an excellent assortment of goodies and of course parma ham, manchego cheese etc and then....you can order a la cart in addition. My husband had the eggs benedict every day because it was that good. My daughter said the french toast was the best she has ever had (and I think I make a pretty mean french toast.) And my son loved the pancakes, french toast and eggs benedict...while I was quite happy with the bread basket and the assortment of other goodies. The pools and the beach club were just so picturesque, I could have moved right in...We would go right to the pool after breakfast and wouldn't leave until 6-7pm. It was pure heaven. We did have the opportunity to see the cottages and they were huge. You could easily fit 2 families of 4 in a cottage--they have a gourmet kitchen, 4 bedrooms and its own infinity pool. I wish I was still there!! But I guess if every day were a vacation, vacation wouldn't feel so special...though living at Finca Cortesin sure sounds good as I write this review!!

The bathroom was also very tiny, but clean, and stocked with the usual amenities. Some notes: -It can get VERY loud. The rooms all face out on the bar area which can disrupt your sleep if you're in bed before midnight. Bring earplugs. The night we were there they were having a huge party and there was a man playing the guitar and singing. We actually opened the windows of our room to listen, but if you are trying to sleep, this might be an issue. -There is free wifi in the lobby. Just ask the front desk for a password. -They will stow your bags for you if you arrive and your room is not ready. -Free buffet breakfast that was quite good. We enjoyed mimosas and toast in their lovely cafe. There is yogurt, ham, cheese, and coffee available as well. -No television in the room. We didn't care, but if that matters to you, just an FYI. -There is a small shop and a spa on site if you're so inclined. I think we paid 75 euros for our room and it was worth every penny. It's close to the dock if you're planning on taking the ferry to Tangier, and also walkable from the bus station if you arrive that way. (We took the bus from Sevilla.) Highly recommended if you're in Tarifa!

Hotel stays aren't determined by fixtures, fittings or facilities, though - it's the time you have that make them. And the time we had was fantastic. We had a great meal in the buzzy bar/restaurant (a mixture of local tuna and local beef, if memory serves), a stroll round the block on a summer's evening for a couple more drinks followed by a great night's sleep. The next morning, up for breakfast and a wander round the lovely old town (which the hotel is at the heart of). Objectively speaking, La Sacristia was good. But for some reason we just had an amazing time - so I'll always remember it very fondly.

I felt safe, but not sure I would do it with the family or if I was a single women. You kinda have to walk thru the "projects" to get there. The hotel staff was nice. The buffet breakfast and afternoon expresso was well appreciated. Free wifi in the lobby, but in the room it was expensive. Also, the upload speed was dreadfully slow. Just some general advice, if you're going Gibraltar more than once, stay in Gibraltar. The border crossing (especially coming back into Spain) is really a pain in the a$$. Also, don't forget your passports, you are leaving Spain and entering into British Territory.

Free parking on the side, paralleling the main street, between these two hotels is a big plus. The bathroom is amazingly small given the huge entry space on one side and the huge wasted space on the other for watching TV. Seriously you can brush your teeth and use the toilet at the same time. But, you can't get into the shower safety. Who designed this place leaving all that wasted space on other side. Downright dangerous in that cramped space. It's nuts. And why haven't they finished decorating? No furniture other than a single chair in that TV room and no pictures on the walls. Nice bed but absolutely rock hard pillow, which I had to replace with a bathroom towel. Looks like they recently bought the place from next door. Overall, good value for the money but that bathroom needs rethinking for sure!

It was conveniently located to jet across the boarder to scope out Gibraltar yet is better positioned on the Spanish side of the boarder for delicious tapas and good nightlife. I slept really well and the next morning we enjoyed the amazing selection at the buffet breakfast then I went for a swim in the pool before we checked out - wonderful! The only things to note were that the pool is unfortunately only open 10am - 7pm but that was ok for us in the end. They also have very secure on site parking which is €10 per night and very convenient. I'd recommend this place - great value compared to other places we found and the front desk staff was super helpful!
