We stayed at this hotel for 1 night the first week of June, 2017. It is located about 5 minutes walk from the beach and pier in Scheveningen, the Hague. The building is very old and as is typical in Holland, the stairs are steep and narrow, hallways are narrow, bathrooms are tiny. There is no air conditioning, only a desktop oscillating fan. You can open the windows. The room was clean though the decor felt dated. The bed was comfortable, however, the center gap between the mattresses was unusually large and for my husband and I, made sleeping essentially like sleeping on 2 twin beds rather than 1 big one. TripAdvisor rates this hotel as a 3-star hotel. The Netherlands' official government rating is 2-stars and that is more accurate. These are basic accommodations. The floor is wood or laminate, not carpeted, probably to avoid problems with guests tracking sand in from the beach. There are no toiletries provided, only a soap dispenser on the wall near the sink and in the shower. No wash cloths either, only hand towels and bath sheets. The shower is a stand-up shower with a curtain, not a glass enclosure. There are no electrical outlets in the bathroom. Because of the building's age, noise was a minor problem. We were on the very first floor with reception and we could hear people talking and also hear them preparing the morning breakfast buffet. You could also hear people going up and down the stairs and walking by the window outside. Parking outside the hotel is tough. It is street parking and you have to feed a meter. The price of the room includes breakfast and the breakfast is a stand-out. Cereals, cheeses, charcuterie, eggs, crepes, pastries, yogurt, fruit, ebelskiver, fresh juice and bacon. The staff is also top notch. Very friendly, very helpful and in some cases, trilingual. At the end of the day, we would stay here again if we could get the room at a lower rate. For what we paid (101 Euro, including all taxes), the room wasn't worth it. If it had been 70 or 80 Euros, that would have been a more appropriate price. read more
