I got stuck in Brazil for an extra day on my vacation so I booked a hotel near the airport to spend the night. This place is physically a mile from the airport but the design of the roadway makes it 4+mi. It was inexpensive; wasn't the cheapest but I'm a firm believer you get what you pay for, so by paying $65 I wasn't expecting the Ritz-Carlton. Clean, colorful, standard rooms have safe and mini-fridge, up-to-date Samsung flat-screen, stable electricity... all the basics were covered well.
The only gripes I had to knock off points for were the fact that it's kind of isolated (local spots are about 6 blocks away), the AC wasn't great, and the restaurant in the lobby experienced brownouts.
Other than that, the staff was pleasant and multi-lingual, the breakfast was awesome (and included in the room price), the airport shuttle was FREE and ran 24 hrs, and no bell hops were there to bug you. It wouldn't be bad to stay in again, but I'd still consider other options. read more
