Hotel Praia was a great stay for my wife and me while visiting Nazaré for three nights in early…read moreOctober. The hotel is in a great location, has convenient on site parking, puts out a great breakfast in the morning and has large, clean and quiet rooms. All this wrapped up for a very reasonable rate. Hotel Praia is centrally located across the street from the town's indoor farmers' market. The beach is two blocks away below the hotel. Along the way is a super market to stock your room and pick up any beach supplies and a great gelato store on the corner. The cross street above the hotel offers a pharmacy, hardware store, several clothing shops and the police station. To reach the hotel via car from the main highways, follow the signs to Nazaré then just drive into the town on the upper road that parallels the beach and make a right turn down the hill. When you see several taxis waiting, the hotel will be on the right side with the garage entrance just past the lobby entrance. The parking garage is super convenient and included in the nightly rate. It is the tightest garage though that I have ever navigated. Even in my small BMW 1 series sedan, I could not make any of the turns to the single lane ramps in one shot. Just be careful and you can escape without damage. Luckily we never encountered someone going in while we were headed out or vice versa. Breakfast is offered starting at 8am in a large room off the lobby. There are lots of tables to choose from. Each of the mornings, the offering was the same scrambled eggs, bacon, numerous cold cuts, cheese, breads with a toaster, fresh fruit, cereals, several juices and a complicated coffee machine. It took my wife three days to master that thing. Our room on the top floor was large and offered a side view of the ocean and beach from the balcony. The bed was comfy and the room blissfully quiet. We never heard anything outside our room or next door despite the hotel hosting a tour group on our first night. The bathroom was nice with plenty of hot water for the shower and even a stand-alone bidet. The room has plenty of storage, but only four hangers, a room safe and mini bar frig. My only gripe was the 24" wall mounted TV that was barely viewable from across the large room. We found everything to like about this hotel and all for a super reasonable rate. Do check them out if you are planning a visit.

Excellent service and delicious food!…read more We arrived in Nazaré at lunchtime. Our tour guide dropped us off at Av. da Republica, right by the beach, and let us know that we had about an hour and a half for lunch. We were visiting during the off-season, so many restaurants and businesses were closed. Before leaving the van, we asked her if she could recommend a good restaurant, and she pointed to Adega Océano. The restaurant is on the first floor of what I believe is a hotel. The dining area is large, can seat many people, and is well-kept and organized. Our server was a tall gentleman in his forties who quickly set us up and got us going. I started with the Portuguese vegetable soup and opted for their grilled salmon for my main course. My significant other ordered an appetizer I do not recall (because I did not shoot a photo of it!) and grilled swordfish. We also ordered a bottle of Portuguese green wine (recommended by our server) to accompany our meal. Everything we had was fresh and tasty. Our server was very attentive and promptly served what we asked for. He was also very good at answering the questions we had. My partner wanted to check a few stores, so she finished quickly and left me alone. So I decided to indulge myself and order a dessert with my coffee. I chose a slice of cake that came with cherries on top! It was cheesecake, but I am not 100% sure. Not having a good connection, I got lazy and did not keep good notes! Altogether, we were very happy with our meal, the service, and the setting.

But her potatoes were super flavorful! Spinach was pretty blah and overcooked. They brought out bread, olives and cod fritters. If you don't eat 'em- they don't charge you. Beware.

Title: Very Disappointing Stay - $1,000 in Electronics Stolen, No Accountability from Management…read more Review: Our experience at Hotel Magic in Nazaré Portugal was extremely disappointing. During our stay, about $1,000 worth of electronics were stolen from our (another couple traveling with us) two rooms. When we reported it to the manager, David, we expected at least some concern or accountability. Instead, we were met with numerous excuses, blaming us for items stolen, not listening to our situation, and absolutely no apology or sense of responsibility for what had happened. It's deeply unsettling to have personal belongings taken from what should be a secure hotel room, and even more frustrating when management shows no professionalism or empathy in handling the situation. While the property itself may appear nice, the lack of security and integrity from the staff completely overshadowed everything else. To have luggage and personal belongings rummaged through in our rooms where key cards were used to enter, is extremely disturbing. All our electronics were taken save two iPads (I assume because these can be tracked) and items (medical kit, cords, etc.) that were in luggage in one room were found inside the luggage of another room. I would strongly caution anyone considering this hotel to be very careful with valuables and to reconsider staying here until the management demonstrates better accountability and guest care. Hotel magic where your items magically disappear - stay away!!

The price was a steal for a room with breakfast and parking - perhaps being September it was considered shoulder season. The hotel was only three or four blocks from the beach - an easy walk and not far from the funicular up to the top of the cliffs. The hotel common spaces are bright and modern as were the rooms. One of our rooms was huge and included a full size kitchen, a real surprise. The other was a good size and included a small refrigerator. Both had very nice bathrooms. Given we were on the back of the building the rooms were nicely quiet. The breakfast which was included in our rate was great - a very large selection of items. While parking is included the garage is very tiny so your parking skills better be good and hope your rental car is not as big as what we had. A real challenge. Great friendly staff and a very nice hotel.
