If you want beach towels, you can pick them up at the front desk on your way out. They are a "green" facility, so you can get train tickets at a much cheaper price. They can also book your hikes. There is so much to do here. We stayed 3 nights 4 days and I wish we had 3 more nights. We did get to visit all 5 areas and hike 4 of them. Don't eat at Pastaria. There's a reason they always have plenty of seats. You will want to eat at Ciak and Emy's way. Our favorite grocery store was Crai. Walk straight back and they have vino on tap. 6€ for a liter! You can also take scuba tours, bike tours, kayak tours. Oh, you can pay extra for breakfast included. It's a generous breakfast. And the husband makes a "cake of the day" that is always award winning.

That's totally fair. However it did mean I couldn't take many photos for Yelp! We stayed one night here while transiting between Rome and Nice. Our room overlooked the square with the Christopher Columbus (boooooo) statue and was literally 30 seconds from the main train station. Our room was beautiful and massive, very comfortable bed and we loved the mechanical blackout shades that blocked sound and light from the busy streets below. The coolest surprise here with the Spa. If your room comes with access like ours did, don't skip out on taking advantage of it. Each room with spa access can book one 1-hour session per day. The spa includes a circuit of hydrotherapy pool, steam room, sauna room, emotional shower (yes really that's it's name), hot stone lounge, and ice sink. Silence is appreciated. There are no phones allowed for the privacy of the other guests which is limited to six people. Bathing suits are required. It was incredibly relaxing and cured quite a bit of travel soreness. Fresh juice, water, and hot herbal tea along with robes and slippers are provided. After our spa visit we hit the bar, it was super swanky and we felt the need to dress up a bit! But it was fun. The bartender provided a very high level of service as we lounged on a gorgeous cream and blue davenport style couch and enjoyed our drinks and nibbles. Breakfast was included and fine, but the buffet felt disorganized and it was awkward trying to order a coffee, there wasn't a dedicated barista so you had to kind of flag someone that was minding the buffet or seating patrons. I would have been happy making my own coffee so this isn't meant to come across as snobbish! But they didn't allow it so it was sort of a problem. If you're in Genoa, I do recommend a stay here. One night was great, two would have been fine, but more than...ehhh. Go venture out to Portofino instead!

The bathroom had every amenity that you could need. We had a walk-in shower and a bath tub. The towels were large and great they also had a warming bar for the towels bath robes, and slippers they have a coffee machine complementary and they give you a bottle of water every day. The TV unfortunately didn't have very many channels in English. I don't understand why they don't put the fashion channel on all the TVs in Italy, since this is a one of fashion capital of the world, the roof floor seven where you had breakfast every morning was a nice way to start your day overlooking the city of Genoa the breakfast was plentiful. Anything you could possibly eat including gluten free products more than I've seen in most hotels, and the homemade pies if you stay here too many days, you would definitely gain weight from that the staff was excellent. You got your own food but they did bring you your coffee, we ate dinner in the restaurant which was the same place where breakfast was it was good but I really enjoyed the Trattoria that also part of hotel which was down the street from the hotel and since we already have been up in the morning and having that great view of Genoa, it was nice if you're staying in the hotel, I would definitely recommend eating in both of the restaurants and if you're not staying in a hotel, but you're in the area they are definitely worth your time to try and definitely make sure you get breakfast included because it was delicious I was happy that they had the restaurants in the hotel because the areas a little seedy remember we are in a train station area but it's very good for walking During the day to all the activities that you will be doing when you're in the city I would not hesitate to stay in this hotel again, and I'm going to check the hotel chain for other hotels in Italy

Although I would have found a comfortable bed, a clean room and a good location for discovering the city centre o Genova elsewhere. The Best Western City Hotel impressed me with its staff, so welcoming and nice, everyone. I enjoyed working in the brand new hotel lounge, very stylish but most important, free WIFI, newspapers, iPads... a coffee and drink corner where you can sever yourself at any time. Strange to say, but it made me feel very welcomed thanks to the open minded people and the relaxed atmosphere. Special mention to the owner Gianfranco and the hotel director Antonella. You can feel how their heart beat for delivering high quality accommodation, thinking out of the box with new concepts and services. Really great...thumbs up!

He stored our luggage for us so that we could walk around until our room was ready. The room was beautiful - it had high, vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors, a seaview (and sea sounds!), and a fridge. The hotel does have A/C, though it didn't get terribly cold (which I found to be common in Italy). I believe we paid 150 Euro a night for the room, but I think we did get a free upgrade, so I'm not sure how much it would've been otherwise or what a true 150 Euro room would be like. However, we certainly felt we got our money's worth! We got a free welcome drink voucher at check-in, and the bartender was friendly and did not try to get us to buy more drinks or eat there or anything like that. There is a play area for kids, and there is a sun deck, though we chose to go to the beach, instead. The hotel is a short walk from the train station, and there is a supermarket very close by, as well as both the upper and lower main streets with lots of shops and restaurants. The only real downside to the hotel was that we had to go down a very large flight of stairs (and back up when we left) with all our luggage. Other than that, we loved it. I would highly recommend it!

They refused to put up heat. The coffee is not very good and the breakfast is, very average. If it's chilly, you can't use the indoor space too gather because it's too cold. I'm not sure what it's like here in the summer, but the rooms are clean and cute and have all the basics that you need for the price.

The see-through bathroom door might not be ideal for everyone but was fine for us. The newly remodeled room and bathroom were beautifully done and had all the amenities we could need. The breakfast in the morning was really incredible. The nicest woman prepared it and served it to us each morning on the patio. It was a little different, both times bringing some nice versatility. They even had gluten-free baked items for me! If we return to this part of Italy we will stay here again for sure.

The patio doors and window had no screen so when we opened the room filled with mosquitoes. But it was very pretty to look out over the water with the doors closed. The location was nice but I believe everything in town is about the same distance from the center of town. And the train is near by everything. Long story short the place is nice with a comfy bed and we felt safe. But many options in town also looked very nice and were less than half the price so I would shop around a little before committing.

The apartment has a living room, kitchen, 1 double "room" (really just a partitioned area from the second bed "room"), a double sofa bed, a very, very tiny single room, single bathroom with shower, huge terrace with a view of the main strip (don't believe them when they say "seaview" - that means you can see a sliver of the ocean). Apartment has a full kitchen, AC and satellite TV. The apartment sleeps 5 (two each in the two double beds, 1 in the small coffin...errr... I mean bedroom) but you can pay extra for extra people. You can comfortably sleep one person on the couch and then more people (maybe 3) on the floor of the large living room. Make all of your arrangements online through the website. You will then be given instructions on where to find the main rental office for Alla Porta Rossa where you meet Barbara. After you've paid (cash gets you a discount) you will then be led to the apartments. I love, love, love this apartment and will try to stay here as much as possible when I'm here. Hopefully they come out ok after the recent mudslides. There's nothing like the feeling of coming "home" at night, going to the balcony, opening a bottle of wine and a variety of cheeses and just looking at all the stars in the sky. Buy food from any of the restaurants downstairs and then ask them if you can take it up to the house if you desire. You can also do your laundry in the small (I mean tiny) washing machine and then air dry it right outside on the balcony. Remember that this is an apartment so no one will be coming by to fix your sheets. If you want to feel like a local this is THE place to stay! If you're coming here by train give yourself extra time to get here. The trains are completely unreliable and you WILL be late most of the time if you don't account for this. You do NOT want to piss Barbara off. Trust me on that one. =D Sorry Barbara! I will definitely be coming back to Manarola and will rent from Alla Porta Rossa again.

The rooms are small, but beautiful and comfortable. They all have air conditioning. We were greeted with a nice meal and bottle of champagne on the lovely outdoor patio when we arrived. The included breakfast was the best food I've ever had at a hotel - all freshly made! Our room was quiet and the hotel is located away from the hustle and bustle of all the tourists. It's a short walk to all of the shops and restaurants.The price isn't the lowest in the area, but you definitely get what you pay for. I'd highly recommend!
