There are both grocery stores and pharmacy close by as well as restaurants and bars, although there are better or both in the old city. Front desk staff are pleasant and helpful. All the staff speak multiple languages including English. There is a restaurant and bar as well as a delightful courtyard with pool and hot tub. The rooms are of reasonable size and clean. Doors to the shower room are glass, which means that turning on the light will wake up anyone still sleeping. Toilet and sink are in different rooms. One important note is that only superior rooms get a coffee machine, which cost the hotel one star from this reviewer because I NEED that cup first thing. There are no clothes drawers in the rooms and few shelves, making longer stays challenging. One perk is that the shower rooms have heated towel holders.

Note: The rooms were renovated and decorated in the past 5+ years. If you see old photos (10+years) posted on yelp, they are not representative of the current beautiful rooms. PROS: - Simon is an awesome manager (and relatively new owner of the hotel), he speaks excellent English, he helped us with late check-in and showed us to our room, gave us suggestions of good food nearby, and directed us to the train station Gare St Roch (5 min walk or less). Thanks Simon! - EXCELLENT location, just steps away from all the activity in Montpellier - Each room is unique and ours was super gorgeous - fancy extra jets in the shower and fancy soap - nice AC for our summer visit! "CONS": - stairs only, no elevator (stairs are typical with boutique hotels) - if you plan to drive, be prepared for tight streets and extremely limited street parking-- you're better off not driving (this is not a "con" of the hotel, but rather a "con" of portions of Montpellier You won't be disappointed with a visit to Hotel D'Aragon!

The naming of the rooms are very cool. I won't give it way - when you book your room, you'll see. The "theme" is very nice for a quaint town like Montpellier.

Hotel is a bit hard to find even with GPS but that is more the city's issue than the hotel. Area around hotel is nice and full of younger people. Not much activity on the streets surrounding the hotel but it is a saturday and almost holiday time in France, late july. Private car park is free and wonderful. Make sure you have a small car to get around the streets

It's a short walk to the old town and the helpful and knowledgable staff can tell you where/how/what to go and see. THe town itself is full of hidden alleys and corners, tempting you to diverge off your chosen path and even (it seems) deliberately taking you somewhere else! Fortunately it's a manageable town centre and you always end up somewhere you recognise! A couple of fab markets too which we used for lunch things. Downsides? None for the hotel - it's lovely except it would be nice to have an evening meal there. For the town - its expensive for coffee! And wine!! And don't bother with the walking tour. We had to give up as the guide was horrible and didn't follow the procedure of letting us know where on the map we were. She only had to say numbers in French; I wasn't expecting any special treatment but she made it perfectly clear that she didn't want 'foreigners' there! xx
