The hostess, Mayte, lives on the property. The whole compound is built in the Paquime style- thick adobe walls. Each of the rooms are very cute with homey touches and decor from the area. Mayte took time to talk with our group about Paquime and the Mata Ortiz ceramics (she has her own gallery where she sells Mata Ortiz pottery made by locals in her home). We had breakfast in the kitchen on the property each more. The staff was very nice and prompt and great cooks! I felt very safe staying here and would highly recommend it to others.

I was with a group of friends and we had an amazing time and enjoyed the best tour any of us could ever imagine. He catered to our every whim and had tons of interesting add-ons to the tour, like stopping at food and drink stands, bakeries, candy store, "the wall", and many additional interesting and quirky sights. He took care of every need, such as exchanging money, going through immigration, and arranging meals. (He knew where to find the most tourist friendly bathrooms!) Most in our group, have individually traveled many times to Mexico, but this was a chance to travel with a local and meet the nicest people all along the way. It was a comfortable, convivial, and educational experience all wrapped in one. Both Los Milagros and the hotel we stayed at in Mexico were excellent.

When I returned a month later, I overnighted in this exceptional hostel two nights (both cycling West outbound, then going East, inbound). I was extremely pleased with the super firm bed and super secure location on the South side (Calle Progreso, immediately West of the OXXO convenience store) of the square. I rested as well, if not better, than virtually anytime before when travelling, improved because the cost was only $20usd per night! Raymundo is the gifted stylist who owns the business in front and the immediately surrounding compound; he is the perfect host. On the second night, I brought in a ramen dish, along with other fruits/veggies/peanut butter/beef jerky, and used the microwave to prepare a hot/satisfying meal. Even though numerous people can be accommodated, I was rather pleased to have it all to myself. I'm definitely looking forward to returning--there are numerous outlets available for electric devices, and WiFi is coming. You could find yourself trapped by another guest's car if you plan to leave before 7 am. We had no problem. No ice machine nor vending machine. Bring a cooler with ice. The owners would have probably pulled ice from their restaurant, but we didn't ask. The hotel restaurant serves excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner, but they're closed on Sundays. That's it for the cons. The hotel is lush and beautiful, as was our room, which was BIG! Our second floor room had beautiful art, linens and great toiletries. The wifi is free and may be the best we've experienced in the US and Mexico. We were shocked when we saw our room. The owners obviously put a great deal of thought into the ambience of the entire place. The location is walking distance, one block from a small indoor mall, about 40 stores. The anchor store is called LEY. The store is similar to a Super Target, with food, furniture, some appliances, etc. It has everything! Almost everything you need is at this store. They close at 10 pm. The employees are extremely helpful, but some speak Spanish only. In conclusion, we would stay there again. This is a really beautiful hotel.

When my husband and I arrived and attempted to get two rooms for the night, one for us and one for his father, we were greeted by a locked door and a whiteboard sign telling us to ring the night service bell and/or call a particular phone number for service. After ringing the bell multiple times to no avail, I attempted to call the number on the whiteboard. When a women casually answers, I state that we are trying to check in she responds with, "oh I don't work there no more." Great. My husband calls the number on Google and we can hear the phone ringing away with no one to answer. So we got in our car and left. Probably for the better that we didn't stay there. Especially given the lack of concern/service for their guests, or potential guests.

The next nearest food is 45 minutes away! The food was excellent. The hosts are clearly foodies and put a lot of thought in each meal, which were upscale-restaurant-quality. I even had several dietary restrictions and they made that work. The beef from their own cattle was delicious, as well. They even made me dinner on the evening I arrived, which I wasn't expecting. The lodge was appropriately rustic, one of the historic stone buildings of this region. They have a lovely patio with bird feeders close by. I learned several new bird calls this trip just from sitting on that patio, The ranch itself was also in very good condition. I love animals, but I don't love smelling animals - and they are doing good farming because it smells great there. The large livestock has a ton of room to range about, and the smaller ones (the mini horses) are kept close for their safety, I assume. Everything was clean, the animals were happy and entertaining, and adorable! The Great Danes were well behaved, sweet dogs, too. And the hosts - they were so lovely; World travelers with lots of fascinating tidbits to share. They are happy to talk and share stories if you want, and they are also very respectful of guest's time and privacy. This was a fun, convenient, and picturesque place to stay. Complaints I have: only two pillows, big black hole in my bathroom door, I was charged for my whole stay at check in rather than check out, the fitness center and pool close at 7, and the covid revised breakfast (grab bags) is a joke.
