Ya'll I'm at it again, travelin' and marvelin' at all the great places there are to have 5 Star Fun on a dime, CASE IN POINT...Cottonwood Inn & Suites. There's a wicked cool full-service Cottonwood & Shipwreck Pub & Casino next door with weekend entertainment. Open seven days a week with a restaurant and convenience store. From the huge outdoor Tiki Bar, I was able to admire the Lewis & Clark Marina located directly across the street. There moored are hundreds of beautiful sailboats and various watercraft bobbing and swaying in the waters of the Lewis and Clark Lake fed by the Missouri River. All this while sipping my favorite cool one and listening to some awesome outdoor speakers and the banter and laughter of vacationers and guests. My room was brand new 2012, sparklin' clean and pet friendly. Gotta mention the microwave, coffee pot, fridge, flat screen TV and free WiFi, 2 beds with cushy linens and pillows and a private bath. Lots of close parkin' and it's walkin' distance from other amenities too! The hotel & pub are a few mere feet from the 1200 plus acre Lewis & Clark Recreation Area. When making my reservation, the teenager didn't really know what to do and almost hung up before I could give him my name. We reserved the deluxe suite because we needed three beds. When we arrived, we were amazed to find that our suite was in the basement. Even worse, the door to our room was merely an interior door with lock, not secure at all! We were more surprised to find that our "suite" was merely one average-sized room with a kitchenette. The furnishings were beat up, but the room seemed clean and the a/c worked. We needed the a/c always running to keep the humidity down in this basement room. They advertise two queen beds, but there were two full beds with thin mattresses. The uncomfortable sofa bed had only a fitted sheet and no pillow. I went looking for someone related to the motel and was scolded for not asking for help at the counter of the mini-mart (beer mart/pizza joint). The woman continued to be unhelpful by telling me we had no need for the sofa bed since four people could sleep in the two queen beds. By this point, I was angry and argued back that they were full beds and that we need the rest of the bedding for the sofa bed as well as more towels. While we were at dinner, we got two more towels, a second fitted sheet, and two pillows; no flat sheet and no blanket. We stayed for three nights and got no service to our room. We needed to ask for more soap, shampoo, and conditioner. On the second night, the toilet started to leak and leaked when our neighbor flushed. The basement laundry flooded and nearly reached our room. Their web site says "the best Yankton has to offer." At the price they're asking, I expected a true two-room suite with two queen beds on one room and the sofa bed and kitchenette in another room since they claim "pamper yourself in the comfort and charm of some of South Dakota's most pleasant hotel lodging accommodations." I think not!

She gave us the codes and allowed us to make our selfs at home in a room until our main room was ready. The owner is very willing to work with her customers to make them feel as comfortable as possible and she puts a lot of passion into her building. We had a pretty old sinking bed, she replaced it for us, we had an incredibly noisy neighbor she allowed us to move rooms so we could sleep. Basically and concern you have she will address and find a way to make your stay as amazing as possible. There's nothing I have left to say other than this little hotel in Ponca is cheap and a little piece of heaven. Clean. Well kept. Cozy. Awesome owners who genuinely care. 5 Stars all the way

I had to initiate most of the communication on details, and often what I'd spoken to the owner about was never relayed to the Banquet Supervisor, who is the person actually carrying things out, so I'd have to have the same conversation twice. That being said, things turned out well. The food was good, the bar service was excellent and fun, and the room was gorgeous. If you want a simple experience, Riverfront may not be your venue, but it is one of the only places in Yankton that isn't essentially just a little tan box of a room.

Coffee but no breakfast, but there's a convenience store abs a grocery store in town.

Everything worked here, there where a few light bulbs out but none that where of any importance. I should have maybe said something to the girl @ the front desk, but I was only staying one night. The lady @ the front desk was polite and allowed me to move into a diff room, then what she originally put me in, b.c. the original room was sorta in the back and was harder to get to, and I just like to be able to walk out of my room car parked right outside my door, and go... which is why I usually avoid those large motels, where you have to walk down the long hall, down the stairs past the front office, and to your car. I slept past the alarm clock. & went into the front office and put the key in the drop box. They didn't ask for a deposit that I remember. They did have some muffins, pastries, cereal, milk, orange juice, in the breakfast area. I only know this b.c. I went into the breakfast area when I was trying to go to where the ice was. I took a chocolate muffin. The internet didn't work that well on my Ipad, but my computer internet worked. I was @ a far bedroom far from the front office, and I think that maybe why my internet was having a few issues. not sure, usually @ motels that are small motels not large chains they have the router in the front office and the rooms farther from the main base have slower internet. Thumbs up on this place. Everything was so cute. I really wanted to stay but I needed to go to a larger city to get some things done @ best buy, my bank, and take a little break from work. The only thing I didn't like was it was on a busy street. I didn't hear much noise but getting out of the building I had to wait for traffic to be clear cause it's on the main street in Yankton. The tables are large (8 chairs) and can fit a large group going out at the end of their week to blow off some steam. If you get a BINGO before a certain number of numbers are drawn you can win $100 dollars (some of my classmates have won this, so it can happen). They have drink specials. There's chalk paint on the bathroom stalls to mark up each night. It's dimly lit. There are electronic gambling machines and dart boards too.
