Our room was covered in stains. If you are going to stay in this hotel you clearly don't mind the cigarette smell from the lobby (they have a smoking area that does not have proper suction system, so the hole lobby smells like cigarette) and if you are going to take the penthouse room get ready to go up the stairs cause their rooms will be located on the 12th floor, but their lift will only go until the 11th floor, so normally I would not make such a fuss about it. At the end of the day is only one floor, but if you with a stroller is not so nice imagine it was not a stroller, but a wheelchair. I'm definitely never coming back

Very nice location, free taxi to and from the Galieriehaus and Malerinkel at any time. English speaking staff, very accommodating to my schedule. Famous Köln Dom was right there! Other old buildings also. Because of thick doors and well insulated long windows, couldn't hear any noises from outside. We slept sans curtains! Breakfast was super good. All kinds of German goods which I missed so much. Fresh Brötchen or dark German bread, salami, schinken, etc. all there! Famous Heumarkt was walking distance. We enjoyed last Weihnachtsmarkt there with super hot Glühwein! Other part of the cities Weihnachtsmarkt were closed. I still remember the early morning's church bell sounds. It was not loud. It was not bothering like alarm sound. In an unknown city unfamiliar hotel bed you woke up by the church bell sounds. Through the long huge windows you see grey cloud thick sky.. yeah you are in Germany.

Hilton Cologne near the train station and giant cathedral is my favorite hotel in all of Europe…read more As my humanitarian work calls me to Germany often, and the sad circumstances I must see for refugees, it's a healing treasure to be warmly welcomed at Hilton Cologne where my requests are met for personal care. For instance, I'm allergic to feathers and fragrances so housekeeping provides synthetic bedding and uses natural cleaning supplies. It also helps to be a Hilton Diamond member because there are perks, like view upgrades of the dome, and free breakfast. A few times I've enjoyed the split level condo suite with dreamy tub-- for you honeymooners out there, this is the room you want. It's its own castle. Be sure to order breakfast buffet downstairs, and ask for friendly, English-speaking serving host, Polat Dal who is extra helpful for seniors guests and those with mobility challenges. It was very nice to see someone working attentively for guests' comfort. See you soon, Hilton Cologne!

We would stay here again if visiting the area!

As my dad always said - as long as the sheets are clean, which they certainly are here. The hotel is situated in a busy, and noisy, spot, so keep that in mind. Perfect if you're just looking to eat schnitzel and drink beer. I'm just passing through, so one night here will suffice on the German nostalgia front for a while. Do note that there is no elevator from the ground floor to the mezzanine. I was also put in the suite on the top floor, and again had to take some stairs after the elevator took me as high up as it could. Fine for me, not so much for elderly with baggage or others who might be physically unable to take steps. Great view of the river and the bustling area below, from the small balcony with table and chairs. A bit steep for the outdatedness, since it's not enough to be kitsch; but it is high season, and our stay is spontaneous. They are forgiven. So: nice staff, clean and pragmatic, nice location for partygoers, and a trip down memory lane regarding the decor. EDIT: had to take a star off, we bought some beer back to the hotel and the fridge was turned off and had moldy spots - YUCK.

Breakfasts was great, location was great, 10 min taxi to little Tokyo, the bed was comfy & the room rate was good. The only flaw was the shower set up, no shampoo & conditioner which was strange, no door, thus good amount of splash bounced off the wall during shower. In addition, the room smelled bad a day after using the shower which was really bothersome. I spent some time & tracked the source down to the invisible drain under the wooden shower floor。 I am pretty sure it's either the drain or the wet underside of the shower floor that bred bacteria which caused bad smell. There's no access, no easy way to fix it, I ended up flushing the drain using the shower, wasted a lot of water but the problem went away.

The view of the river from my room was terrific. The walking path is great for exercise. I loved the size of the room. The reception area is really gorgeous. We only had a bit of trouble at dinner because the kitchen was terribly slow. Unforgivable, so I'm dropping a star. But hospitality standards were good, and the taste was exquisite. Hope they can fix kitchen processing soon.

This hotel is within walking distance to a bridge that crosses the harbor so that you can walk to the Rheinturm. The staff gave me good directions to where I wanted to go. Everyone that I encountered spoke good English and were polite. On my second visit I was given a room on the top floor with an excellent view of the Rheinturm; what a difference! There is a restaurant in the hotel that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. As an Elite Platinum member, I was disappointed that I was charged for WIFI but was pleased that I got a nice view on my second stay.
