There's an excellent spa at a top floor and in the basement (basement offers pool). Hotel has an amazing restaurant. Some of the best breakfast was enjoyed here on our European journey. I mean, you get to slice your own ham pieces. That same place turns to an upscale restaurant for dinner. Traditional Austrian offerings. We tried wild mushroom soup, schnitzel and beef (steak). Very well presented, very well tasting, Wait staff very professional. They do have a bar in the lobby. Bar well run. This hotel is a jewel.

Overall fine hotel... with some SERIOUS caveats…read more It sounds almost unbelievable, but be aware that at least in the room we had, the bathroom doors and walls ARE SEE-THROUGH. This isn't an exaggeration: the walls and doors are actual, transparent glass. Frosted in some small places, but transparent enough to give a view into everything - including the shower (also with 100% glass walls) and the toilet, from which you have a truly splendid view into the room and vice versa. Great for open-minded couples I suppose but an absolute nightmare for anyone not willing to put their most intimate moments on display or ask their roommate to please leave the room while you're taking care of things. If, however, you can live with the display-window aesthetic of the facilities, the room, while compact, is pretty nice. The building is a bit older but that didn't stand out in a bad way, and everything that was of importance worked very well and was completely clean and well taken care of. In addition, I feel it must be said as a point of huge praise that the breakfast buffet is SPECTACULAR. Other hotels may have fruit on offer, but this hotel has FRUIT - not just the usual selection of local fruits like apricots or seasonal ones like watermelon, but a giant selection of exotic choices like passion fruit or tamarillo as well. All of which were fresh, unblemished, and readily restocked in an attractive display a mile long. Similarly impressive was the cereal selection, which included a muesli bar with at least two dozen different toppings. Truly above and beyond. It's not a giant buffet like some big chain hotel (this is a modestly-sized place after all) but for its weight class, it punches way above what you'd expect. In a world where breakfast has often been the first casualty of service shrinkflation, this one stands out. However, I just cannot get over the see-through toilet. Sorry, that is a deal breaker. Good gods.

The potato salad was the highlight... pretty damn good. The place was so smoky that it was bad in the non - smoking area. It didn't help that the only waitress working that night had to run through the glass divide constantly. She was also either overworked or just disliked us... either way, the service was efficient with an edge of mean. Also, the beer selection left much to the imagination (kaiser in 4 sizes and then 2 flavors of bottled beer). The total bill was 17 euro for a sizable meal for two, including a beer. Id have personally rather spent a little more else where. Visited January 2017

It is a local establishment that gives you a family-owned feeling that you may expect from a small-scale hotspot from the 70's and 80's. Charming in the sense that it never seems to make you feel marketed towards as a tourist, but slightly to the contrary as regulars stop their conversations as you walk in through a cloud of tobacco smoke to order a drink or request a table. The smaller non-smoking section is located in the rear while the few outdoor tables seem to allow for better ventilation. Rumors of massive serving sizes convinced us to order the smaller goulash plate with bread and the award winning best value choice pork with dumpling, gravy, and small side salad. What was served to us looked simple, but tempting. Exceptional taste and quantity for a fit couple in their mid-30's who are usually fairly critical of what they are served. Excellent value at €13.20 after tax (and €3.20 additional for a large dark brew) made us quite pleased with our experience apart from having to choose a few annoying flies outside over a denser smoke filled interrior. Recommended mostly for the value and quality of the food along with the authentic feeling, less so for the person who has issues with tobacco smoke. Waitress speaks English. The quite basic look was complimented with a welcome couple of good looking paintings. The menu consist of 6 soups or so, about 10 starters and 8 or so mains dishes. There are about 8 deserts available. We each had a soup and a main. The portions where large and the taste was good, yet basic without much fantasy. A bit like the stuff an Austrian grandma would cook I guess. The waiter was alone and seemed busy. When I asked for a recomandation he did not have any. He was friendly nevertheless.
