I want to review this better but this experience kept failing me at every turn.
The restaurant is stunning. Very formal and elegant. The menu also is wonderful. The service similarly with the teams dressed to the nines.
As soon as I sat down I had issues with the chair that didn't stop. It was beyond uncomfortable and my back started to suffer.
We ordered a scallop dish with foie gras. I did not know a scallop could ever taste like this. It was substantial in size and cooked perfectly. At the first bite you knew this was something special. The gentle brininess of the Mediterranean sea tantalized your taste-buds and then the luxury of the liver made this a dish I will never forget. Sadly the entrees did not come close to the same. I had asked for the hare (not available), pigeon (not available and finally asked the captain for what he would order. He brought me a lamb dish that was decidedly displeasing. I didn't like anything about it from the presentation to the flavours. My wife had a sole in orange sauce. A n interesting combination that didn't work for us either. The filet of sole was a fantastic piece of fish though.
We decided on a dessert and had the profiteroles. These were so so so so good, The pastry was everything you would want and the ocean of dark chocolate made you want to bathe in it.
Coffee and a 5 oz. pouring of Cardenal Mendoza finished the evening.
I don't know if I would give this restaurant a second chance. What was good was great but what wasn't really detracted. If only there were more comfortable seats............. read more
