The Manager lady was well aware that it was late and we were hours away from the nearest hotel so we had no where to go. She basically strongarmed me into paying for an extra room I did NOT NEED or RESERVE! Our rooms were over 90 degrees and when i asked her to please turn the air on, she SCREAMED at me for not 'wearing my mask" (as if I could breathe with how incredibly hot & stuffy it wasI) and told me to check out if I didnt like it. I told her id be happy to check out with a full refund as we had only been there 1 hour. She refused my offer to leave with my money and then BLASTED the air conditioner (which i liked) until it was so cold we all froze all night. Again, we have a baby with us, it's after 8pm and we are hours from the nearest other hotel and have been driving ALL DAY (5 HRS). This place is RACHET & the owner or whoever she is, is THE RUDEST, most disrespectful & entitled person on the planet!!! There were spider webs EVERYWHERE & obvious the sheets had not been changed. It was so dusty that we couldn't breath or take our clothes out of our bag! Myself & my family have stayed here about 4 to 5 times in the past.. Never a good experience, but NEVER THIS BAD!!! IM APPALLED at Debbie or whatever her name is rudeness and bad attitude!!!! Too bad this is the ONLY B&B / HOTEL in a 45 mile area.. We will NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!! Stay in Safford or Lordsburg!!!

Stairs are steep, with rugs on each step, some are loose, one came off, almost went down but caught myself. They say they have WiFi, but not while I was there. Looks like they may have cable internet. The Arris modems used by cable companies all have issues with too many MAC addresses causing problems. Easy fix. Put a timer on it. Cycle power at 2-3 AM. No more "cannot connect". Sucked because I had work to do. Overall nice, but if you need connectivity, look elsewhere.

Love the history and uniqueness of this place as well as the area. Hotel Clifton is showing its age…read moresince it was restored 7 years ago. Our room needs to be entirely repainted once the severely peeling paint is scraped off the outer wall in the bathroom and bedroom. Window sills are very dirty. I understand it can be a very dusty town from the mining, but upkeep is important. Online pictures are from when the restoration was first completed 7-ish years ago and don't reflect the aging since. Our bed was the most uncomfortable we've slept in since our young partying college days. You immediately fell into a hole in the bed's center, and mattress is covered by a thick piece of foam to hide the poor condition but made you roast all night. It was beyond bad. But the Hotel in general has got a lot of old historic character which I like. A newer mattress & box spring, and freshened up walls & woodwork would have made our stay much more enjoyable. In its current state the hotel is much more rustic than indicated in AZ Highways and online.

Had the call been earlier we probably would have changed hotels but it was a little late to find a place at that point. I was assuted someone would help with luggage. So we agreed to climb to the third floor. There was no one to assist with luggage When I entered the room I went to adjust the thermostat on the air conditioning system and the cover for the controls fell off in my hand. It was broken. Then I went into the bathroom and found there was no toilet paper holder. It had been pulled from the wall and removed from the room. When I advised the desk clerk that the holder was missing she said she would note it for maintenance. I think maintenance already knew or would have still been in the room. The bed must have been in that room for 15 years to have depressions as deep as it does. Likewise the pillows are little balls of something that are not very comfortable. There are no longer any amenities in the room such as makeup mirrors. We ask for at the front desk for a mirror but there were not available. It's as if the rooms have been stripped of all the things that used to be there for the convenience of the traveler. Primarily because of the elevator when we checked in we asked it was possible to get a discount on the room. We were advised that it would be difficult since we had paid in advance but that she would check with the manager. When I called about the toilet paper holder being missing again requested a discount because of the condition of the room and the elevator I got the same sndwer. At this point I've heard from no one about anything. None of these things would have been true in any of the Hampton inns I've stayed in before. It was very disappointing and my last day in a Hampton Inn.

If you have a service dog and can live without their services then staying at the Silver Creek Inn, will be a fun experience. If you cannot be without your service dog then know, at least one group of Inn owners, considers their guests with potential allergies far more important than breaking ADA and Civilc Rights laws. Mogollon is a treasure-trove for people who like history and beautiful scenery and the jewel of Mogollon is the Silver Creek Inn. We stayed there two nights (October 17 & 18) and the experience was wonderful. This old and very historic building was built around 1885 and originally served as a store. It eventually became vacated and sat empty for a number of years until the new owner (Stan) bought it and with the help of a few compadres, restored and converted it into an inn. I can't even imagine the amount of work it took, but they did an outstanding job. My wife and I stayed upstairs in a large and very comfortable room on the northeast corner. The adjoining bathroom was beautifully done and offered me a shower that was easy to step into and out of. The bed was very comfortable and the room quiet offering a great view off of a balcony having a second set of stairs if one wanted to go to the ground floor. Adjoining our room was a library having a lot of shelves and books and a very cool moving ladder that can travel across the front of the selves. The library also has a very beautiful coffee table and more books are kept there having stories about the people who came to Mogollon years ago to find their fortunes in or earn a living in the mines that are in the surrounding area. Our host, Susie was the highlight of our trip up here and worth the long drive just for the pleasure to visit with her. She runs a tight ship and i am glad that after all these years and trips of visiting Mogollon, that I was finally able to spend several nights in this interesting ghost town and this really nice inn.
