It's one of two places in our experience where my wife has said "Can we afford this?" as we arrived. My best guess about it being truly affordable is that Villagarcia de Arosa is a bit off the beaten path. This is good news for travelers - our room was comfortable, the breakfast buffet was one of the best we encountered, and our dining experiences in the bar were delightful. The only glitch I encountered was, being a massive stone building, that wifi tended not to extend into the rooms. The upside was that when I needed a better connection, I ended up spending more time in the magnificent common areas than I typically do in hotels. Between the gardens/grounds and multiple grand rooms extending off the lobby, this was one of the most enjoyable hotels to explore that I've ever visited.

The bed was very comfortable, the products top-notch. The spa deserves a full review itself. The Thermal Club is adults only time, where you can spend a two hour block going between the sauna, the ice room, the steam room, and finally the shower rooms. Each shower is different. Then, after completing the circuits multiple times, proceed up to the fully glass-enclosed pool, where there are multiple different water features to pummel, massage, and relax you. Water beds, water jets, and water sprays make for a fun experience! We also spent several hours getting spa treatments, taking a thermal bath in the legendary healing waters of La Toja, getting massaged, wrapped, and facials. Afterwards, skin was so nice! This place is a destination in itself. Will worth the trip!

Nice hardwood floors. Would return and request room 412 again. You can see the Islas Cies from the window. Well at least partial views of the islands. WIFI is free for one hour. If you need 24 hour WIFI service, it will cost 5 euros. I feel that a 4 star hotel should have this service for free. No iron in the room but you could ask front desk for one.

Conveniently located close to the center of town, there is plentiful AC and a small elevator to boot. Love the modern yet warm ambiance and the backyard pool area is amazing. In the back area, there is a converted hórreo, the traditional elevated granary in Galicia, complete with glass walls and supplied with a hammock. I loved hanging out here after being in the pool. The pool area has a table with umbrella and lounge chairs. My friend and I bought wine, cheese and olives to enjoy poolside! There is a nearby large grocery store for buying snacks, etc. The room we had did not have its own bathroom so we shared with one other room. Honestly, it wasn't a big hassle. You just have to lug your toiletries there and it was a few feet away from the door. There is a self-serve breakfast, I think it was 11€ or so? But I prefer to eat at the nearby cafes. The staff speak English here! Would stay again.

It wasn't the stuffy, uncomfortable, and overly formal style of luxury - it was a perfect blend of making me feel spoiled yet also at home. The rooms were large with big windows, a well lit bathroom with great ceiling vent, huge showers with hot water and good pressure. The beds were comfortable and gave me a great night's rest after a day of travel. The city of Vigo is generally walkable and this hotel is near several shops and restaurants so it was a great location. We stayed here one night and then hit the Camino de Santiago the next morning. It was a perfect night's sleep before the start of our pilgrimage!

It may not sound like much but at this type of hotel you expect more! We've stayed at three NH Collection hotels in other countries and they were perfect. This one, not so much!!

San Amaro offers several places you can have a drink or diner: next to the swimming pool, on the balcony, on the patio or inside a refurbished "horreo", a typical building you will find everywhere in Galicia. The breakfast is suberb, no standard hotel food; fresh fruit, breads and pastelles. The view from the breakfast room is magnificent; overlooking the vineyards and surroundings. This place is really special and if you are looking for a special hotel to spend a view nights in total relaxation: this is the palace to be! (€95,-/€160,- depending on season and room).

Loved the breakfast buffet with the automatic coffee machine - those things are bomb. I had to try every option of the coffee drinks on offer from cappuccinos to cafe con leche. Try to get here on the early side as you'll obviously have more options. One of my favorite things was the membrillo con queso, quince paste with cheese. OMG. Dinner on the other hand, was standard. It's just a few minutes walk from the seafront, the boulevard, Plaza Fefiñanes and other squares. The owners are really kind, making it feel more like a bed and breakfast and honoring the description "hotel familiar". The rooms have a good standard and the prices are really good (€45-60, depending the season). A few years ago when we stayed her, we got very ill from eating a lot of different seafood mixed with a lot of different alcoholic drinks (... oops, our own fault) and when we got home to the hotel the owner immediately noticed this. She made us rice water (the water in which the rice is boiled), supposedly a secret Galician miracle drink for stomach illness. It seemed to help. The day before the cleaner had put our wet shoes in the sun on the French balcony. What a service! It has a small cafe on the ground floor: cafeteria Bodegón with a nice view on the church. When wanting a cheaper and less touristy hotel (like the Parador) as a fallout base for exploring the country during the day, this hotel serves the purpose.
