I am obsessed with this little chocolate shop I spent way more and I ate way more of this delicious chocolate so many varieties... if you have the opportunity to be in London in the Bloomsbury area. I'm sure there's more locations elsewhere but I found this one and it was so delightful... I may have to stop by and get a few more...

Classic (70%) Hot Chocolate

London does hot chocolate on another level. Hotel Chocolat is a chain chocolate store but I think this is one of the only locations that does drinks including hot chocolate. They have a variety of hot chocolate to order from based off of the level bitterness the drink would be. I ordered the classic (70%) with the chocolate whip on top and it was delicious! First of all, the whip itself could be its own dessert as it tasted like a chocolate mousse and it wasn't too fatty like usual whip cream. The hot chocolate was delicious as well, very smooth and rich. Would definitely put some of the whip in there to sweeten it up. Overall, very solid hot chocolate place... maybe the best I have ever been to! Would definitely come back again for more.

Chocolate haberdashery! There was literally chocolate of all forms, shapes, sizes & darkness for the taking in this adorable little boutique. Service was prompt and professional. The employees offered their expertise at the counter, espresso bar and outside at the entrance with delicious samples. I went with a dark chocolate assortment containing ginger. This was a very nice experience to add to my chocolatier passport. ~Christy

A delicious winter treat for yourself, hot chocolate made with real chocolate (no powder, no syrup). Must try! Personal favourites: Hazelnut (tastes like Ferrero Rocher in liquid form), Salted Caramel, Winter Spice, Dark

Probably the best Hotel Chocolat store in London as its got a cafe and the school of Chocolate where you can see learn how to make chocolate and sample what you make. They even have a Chocolate speed dating event.

Just to clarify at the outset that sadly, this is a chocolate shop and not a hotel. How fantastic if it could have been a Hansel & Gretel style hotel where you could lick the chocolate walls It does however have a slight Charlie & the chocolate factory type air to it as you can watch the chocolate making process in action. As well as purchasing the fabulous if rather pricey end products, you can see the coffee beans being roasted, conched and ground. The best machine is in the basement cafe where you can see a sea of chocolate going round and round and you just want to stick your head in and open your mouth wide! This is the biggest of the Hotel Chocolat shops in London. The ground floor is the retail area. There are all manner of chocolate products from single estate bars to different style truffles to chocolates spiked with things like chilli My personal favourite is 66% dark Sambirano Valley purist chocolate bar from Madagascar - the bitter dark chocolate notes are tempered by a sweet fruity flavour most resembling raspberry. At first, I thought that they had added in a fruit flavour but in fact, it's purely the flavour from the chocolate. However, at £6 for a 70g bar, it's best enjoyed slowly in small amounts! The basement cafe is a nice place to chill out and you can get non chocolate products there to eat and drink as well If you have the cash to splash or you want to make someone feel special, I would recommend a trip here

Now this is my kind of hotel! Hotel Chocolat have opened a brand new store on Monmouth Street and, get this, they make chocolate in store! Ooh, it's like being in Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. On the ground floor is where the magic happens, the machines are at the front of the store and all the delicious choccie treasures are available for you to peruse, gaze at, stroke lovingly and purchase. It's not unknown for me to fall into a walking chocolate-coma while in the store, emerging much later on with no recollection of the previous hours events but with my arms laden with chocolate treats. I will not be held responsible for my actions around this much chocolate deliciousness! I also love big slabs of chocolate! They just taste better that way! There's a large cafe tucked on the lower ground floor so be sure the check it out for a mid-shopping beverage while in Covent Garden. They were selling mini-chocolate BAFTAs when I was last in and one delightful member of staff showed me a newspaper cutting about their head chocolatier who had made a huuuuge chocolate BAFTA and got himself into the Guinness Book of Records. Apparently that giant chocolate award will soon be on display in the window of this branch so watch this space!

Absolutely incredible place. So cute, small and incredible random things you never thought could be in, on or under chocolate. Had the Salted Caramel Drinking Chocolate. Super, incredibly, tasty! I would go back again and again if I lived in London, Considering the thick, creamy heavenly goodness that was my drink - I'm sorta glad I don't live here - sorta. :-) Thanks Hotel Chocolat/School of Chocolat... not exactly sure what the real name is.

Don't they look delicious??

I know its hard to go wrong with chocolates ever but Hotel Chocolat sets a different bar (pun intended) for chocolates all together! Dark, Milk, White, Hot, Cold, Gooey, Soft, nutty, fruity, alcoholic you name it and they have it! I am not a dark chocolate fan by any standard but the dark chocolate here will blow your mind off (it definitely blew mine). If you're looking to buy the best present or treat yourself to one you cant go wrong with their awesome chocolate collection. But there is one risk, once you taste the chocolates here you would not only be addicted but also not want to buy chocolates from ANY other place! My mum was down here from India and she is not a big chocolate fan but she literally became one after she tried their awesome hot chocolate and dragged me back there every other day. I was shocked how my super health conscious mum was gorging on chocolates. She even bought a lot of them to show off to her friends back home and she was extremely impressed with their packaging too. Verdict: Had a fight with your partner and want to say sorry? Look no further and buy them some of these delicious little balls or big bars (depends on your taste ;p)

Man I love this place, it's all things chocolate. And it's all crazy good! From your quick fix 70% bags of chocolate buttons, to cocoa gin! There is a whole wall of 'pick and mix' packs, at around £3.50 each, be bold and try a few of the stranger ones (lemon caramel is a favourite of mine.) The cafe part isn't really much of a cafe, as it has very minimal seating and often gets crowded. But the cocoa coffee blends, and the brownies are awesome! Get the original mocha (and don't say no to the cocoa cream) paired with a lemon blondie or granola bar, and you will be in heaven.

This is solely for the friendly service and free iced frappe I received from here a few weeks back. Hotel Chocolat is overpriced but granted their chocolates are innovative and tasty. You can't go wrong with a box for birthday, Christmas or thank you gifts. Buying for yourself as a sweet treat however - well you've got more money than sense. This branch also has a cafe which sells brownies (again over priced) and hot chocolate. It hosts bean to bar experiences where you're able to learn about the process of making chocolate while nibbling on it throughout (aaaalsoooo rather pricey). Somehow I had signed up to their mailing list and as such was kindly offered a free iced frappe which they launched at the start of the summer. After a jog in the insane heat my bf and I decided we deserved a treat and went to redeem this. There are 3 options; salted caramel, white chocolate or milk chocolate. We opted for salted caramel. I watched it being made and my god the calories.... Liquid chocolate, half a salted caramel brownie and a tonne of cream added to a load of ice, whizzed up in a blender, poured and then topped with the tastiest cocoa cream. It is literally a heart attack in a cup. I definitely couldn't manage a whole one. At just shy of £4 a drink I actually don't think it is too steep considering you HAVE to share it between two. It really is the perfect treat! Grab one before the weather turns.

Classic Hot Chocolate

Popped into Hotel Chocolat to try their hot chocolate and was happy to find out that they did soya milk. Adam served me and was kind enough to explain that the classic hot chocolate is 70% hotel chocolate which is appealing in itself. I ordered a large cup which is £3.95. The hot chocolate was very moreish with a slight bitter taste. I added half a brown sugar cube and it tasted even better. I was also offered a champagne cocktail chocolate which was really nice. I was surprised to see the actor Dominic West come pop in for chocolates dressed very casual. Apart from that they have free wifi and high stalls for seating. The service and the hot chocolate was great. I think I'll definitely be back for their Love Potion drinking chocolate which is raspberry and white hot chocolate with light raspberry whip £3.95 for a regular cup.

(Tied in 1st for my favorite London chocolate was the Pump Street chocolate curated by Harrod's department store, and one from Whole Foods hah!) Paul A Young is famous and won awards for their salted caramel chocolates, unique and unlike any other I've had because they're much softer than the usual caramels, but at the same time not completely liquid. I personally thought their brownies were the best part - they seemed overly dense but were so rich and perfectly decadent. I also purchased the sampler of different varieties of milk and dark chocolates, and it was my least favorite because I felt the darks were a little too dry and bitter and the milks were too creamy and sweet. I'd recommend you taste the samples on the main table before purchasing. The truffles were beautiful and the flavors unique but personally I was not a big fan (except for the salted caramels). Overall, highly recommend a visit here for the salted caramels and brownies!

Unique flavors give the truffles personality, such as basil, porter with pretzel chunks, PB&J, mango and lime daiquiri, and my favorite named chocolate: Seedy Soho. So they do a twist on classic flavors with fun names, and of course, a beautiful presentation. Each chocolate runs £2 each, with a quantity discount as you buy more, example, a box of 4 will be £7. If you're looking for something the kiddies may enjoy, the chocolate covered brownies are the way to go, and are not only pretty but are fairly large and only run £2 each. Expiration dates vary, so definitely be sure to ask about each before making a purchase, if you are planning to gift them later down the line. Many of the hand-selected chocolates last only about 7 days, others a little longer depending on the contents. I always feel strange about going into a business where people hover and follow around as if I might break or touch something they don't want touched--that's sort of how it's felt the few times I've been inside the store. No doubt, there are phenomenal displays of chocolate out in the open that they simply don't want messed with: a round table in the center of the room with truffles and other delicacies jutting out in intricately placed rows, a vat of "Aztec" hot cocoa that appears as thick as sipping chocolate, trays and trays of chocolate covered brownies, and shelves adorned in boxes of truffles and molded chocolates, so perhaps that's why the staff make it a point to keep a keen and wandering watch over their guests. So I'll definitely return for the chocolate covered brownies since they're so rich that they taste like chunks of pure fudge, an also pop in for hand-selected chocolates for gifts, I just wish it didn't always feel like "big brother" was watching all the time...

They even have the fanciest gift boxes you've ever seen outside of Fortnum & Mason. Despite once having been solely a chocolate shop, the interior gives off some posh vibes that invite you to stay awhile. Weather permitting, they also have outdoor seating for some ultimate people-watching. The coffee itself could use some improvement, but overall, it isn't terrible. They serve it with a side of chocolates, so you could chew on the sweet merchandise to cut through the bitterness of the overly-roasted java. Service isn't always the fastest if you're sitting down to eat or drink, but it's more of a "come in and stay awhile" kind of place, anyway. If you are coming in to stay a while, however, expect to pay a lot more than the price of your coffee. My £3.60 oat flat white somehow turned into £6.36 when I got my bill. Considering everything you're getting in one stop, as well as the touristy area it's in, however, you could do worse. They even have a washroom, which - if you're familiar with this part of town - can be a Godsend.

But inside this shop is an experience all its own. Those of us well into our adult years will still get that proverbial "kid in a candy store" sense when walking into a place like this. The immediate reaction is "I'll take one of everything". The number of choices and sheer number of chocolates displayed in a confined space are both exhilarating and overwhelming at the same time. It was clear from the choices that this was a true artisan shop. In an act of fiscal and dietary restraint, we took away a half-dozen pieces. My wife always compares chocolatiers using their Chocolate Orange Peels (Chocolate Orangettes is what they called them at this place) as a benchmark. This place passed with flying colors. They also offered an intriguing Mango-infused Dark Chocolate with a pipet of Mango compote that you could inject before eating. It was also a highlight. The prices are fair for what this place is and the service is friendly, polite and efficient. If you are meandering up and down Brick Lane, this establishment is worth a stop. If you are a Chocolate fan, then this place is a must-stop. I guess there are people out there who are not chocolate lovers (or at least likers), but that is like not being a fan of oxygen from my perspective. I would like to stop again sometime to try one of the chocolate drinks. We opted to not get one this time on top of the candy pieces we bought to avoid the sugar overload.
