Very clean. Small rooms, but well decorated. Good place to stay for short duration. Breakfast is sugary, but good. I would stay here again.

Although I am normally a conventional modern hotel type person, I chose to stay here because, quite frankly, there wasn't anywhere else. I was a little apprehensive at first, but upon check in I found the hotel to possess a character and charm that supercedes really any hotel I have ever stayed at. With a "in a movie" type setting, I was able to not just have a great room, I rented the king suite, which was spacious and awesome, but the sitting areas gave me the feel of an adventure. I would highly recommend, and I know I saw some of the "small room" type comments, the king suite was anything but small. A+++ and already booked my 2nd stay. read more

Quaint little place. Rooms are tight and the beds a bit soft for our taste . The well stocked breakfast snack area is 24/7 which is great and they even have popsicles in the freezer. The town is a bit funky. Split across the water to an island, so one bit of it is on this side. Nothing was really open other than a liquor store after hours so luckily we ate before we arrived. The town there is very small but we liked walking around - great sunset can be seen - the next morning we took the short ferry ride to the Oregon side which was very nice. The proprietors were helpful. And enviro-conscious! They installed a EV charger in the parking lot, which would be a plus for anyone traveling thru with an EV. read more

The location of hotel was great. You can walk everywhere in town including down to the riverwalk that leads to the marina. Rooms are small but very clean as is the bathroom. The breakfast area and game room were great and also clean. Well stocked with coffee, fruit, yogurt and multiple breakfast items and snacks open 24/7. My girlfriend loved the soft bed, me not so much. I didn't like that the room with a "Garden View" wasn't a good view. The view was good but it was a view of a chicken cage, open bag of straw, garbage cans, dirty/unused pet bowls, water-soaked bowl of food (?) and overall, in need of a good cleaning which looked to be the plan as the power washer was sitting in the middle of everything. All the chicken feed is sat just inside one of the exit doors.....didnt really want to smell or see this but I don't own the hotel. Definitely an interesting place to stay. Lots of interesting photos and nostalgic to look at. I would suggest staying here but ask for a river/street view IF you plan on opening your blinds. read more

This was a quirky, homey, little find! We had SO much fun in this little town! Hotel Cathlamet was easy to find, easy to check in and out of and even had a hangout room. They supplied Keurig coffee, yogurt, baked goods, oatmeal and toastof many kinds. It's right next door to a great bar and grill where we got to do some karaoke. Absolutely LOVED our night here. We had to call to get an access code for the front door, and then headed through the downstairs lobby to the actual working lobby upstairs. There is an elevator available. The upstairs check in area was so nice--cozy, with thoughtful decor, without being cluttered or busy. You can see the artwork from many artists all over the walls. Our room was the queen river view right next to the check in desk. Small, but serviceable. Our truly favorite part of the hotel was the dining room and library. I'm so amazed at how thoroughly the dining room is stocked; the owners have truly thought of anything imaginable you could want. Laurel was also quick to assure us upon check in that it's not just for breakfast; they also have snacks! I am already thinking about our return. I included some updated photos. read more

Worth going out of your way to stay! My aunt and I have stayed at the Cathlamet Hotel (pronounced like the Willamette, Dammit!) twice and I look forward to more repeats. We first stayed Labor Day Weekend 2016 (which coincided with a local boat festival and art show which were both fun to experience) and then returned for Thanksgiving. We were initially simply looking for a "different" experience which was "halfway" for each of us (I come from the mid-Willamette Valley and she comes from the Skagit Valley) and have become huge fans of the hotel and their new management, as well as the communities in this area. Laurel and her adult grandchildren bought this place last spring and over the summer and fall have made many improvements, in everything from improved wi-fi to updating the heating system and from getting new mattresses to new food options. I love the quaint, historic charm of this place, for starters. Each of the rooms we've stayed in have been very comfortable. We also enjoyed borrowing the DVD Basket (they have several to loan out) and plugging it into our in-room TV so that we could watch some movies we brought with us for a rainy afternoon (after we'd spent the morning getting happily soaked doing the Turkey Trot in nearby Longview with a few hundred other die-hard families). Though we initially had a bit of difficulty getting it working properly, the owners readily helped us work through it (as they have done with any questions or problems we've managed to come up with!). But, I have to say, my favorite part of the hotel itself are all the various public spaces. I often found myself simply wandering around at odd hours, just walking down the stairs to the grand lobby (and piano) or to the sitting area near the reception desk overlooking the historic main street of this charming community or to the eating and game area in the back of the hotel, adjacent to a sweet garden. Their eating area is not like most cheapskate hotels that put things out for a few hours and then lock it all up. No, this place caters to fisherfolk and others who may want to arrive or depart in the wee hours and want access to food and drink. See the photos for the array of hot and cold drink options, the breads, spreads, pastries, yogurts, and more. Plus, they now stock snack options in the vending machine which are WAY cheaper than you'll get anywhere else. Then, there's the game room/library area, complete with couch and plenty of tables and chairs. The first wkd I was here, I camped out with my laptop here and got a lot of work done in this open, airy space. And, then had lots of fun going through various books (and donating a couple more) and playing a few games. Coming here truly feels like a vacation where I can relax, get enough work done that I can relax further, and explore the town and surrounding countryside. What a great quaint hotel. Amazing renovations that kept the old atmosphere but improved the necessities like plumbing and electrical. Loved the USB port outlets! The hotel is clean & up to date with good beds, but ... very small rooms have limited sound insulation between: TV's are wall mounted & back to back with the bed in the next room, we heard low TV noise all night long :-( The hotel seemed nearly empty, staff could have spaced the guests in alternate rooms for a better experience! Low water pressure made showering tedious. A good sized breakfast room (w/fridge, microwave, ice, etc.) & lounge helped to offset the very small room size. Yogurt, fruit, quick oatmeal, some packaged pastry, coffee & tea are provided. Staff is often offsite, you may be asked to wait 15 minutes to register if you have not scheduled your arrival in advance. . No senior discount on the $89 room charge, so $98 w/tax seems a bit high for the location and features. read more

Staid there a couple of weeks ago while out on an aimless motorcycle ride with a friend. Apparently the management has changed so maybe that explains the difference in my experience from the other reviewer's. It is not easy finding a decent place at an affordable price that is so conveniently located on the path to the coast. There were a few guests in the place a family or two and a few couples but by no means was it at capacity, I did not hear any of them and my room was near the front desk. The room I had was adequate in size, I would not say large nor small. It is an old building and I can imagine that the room sizes are all over the place. Looking that the web site seems to confirm that. The staff there seemed to go out of their way to make sure I was welcomed in their hotel. Very personable and eager to make sure I was taken care of. Based on my experience I would seriously consider using this hotel as a base for my next family trip to Southwestern Washington. Everything is about an hour or less away. I can do the beach one day, OMSI the next and find myself back in the very cozy little town of Cathlamet enjoying a beer at their brewery. Not to mention some great salmon fishing is only a few steps away. I had no issue with the bathroom, it was very clean and the water pressure was more than fine. I will definitely return. read more

What a gem ! Great spot to head to for a weekend away! Amazing views of the River, sweet little hidden spots with in the Hotel to hang out and read and a fantastic Continental Breakfast. Imagine finding Bob's Red Mill oatmeal and fresh Oranje juice, and a fine variety of coffee to enjoy on the back deck. Don't want to go out, then curl up in the library with a great selection of books and games. And the Owners are very sweet and accommodating. Cathlamet is a very small but charming town...not a booming metropolis, so we were not expecting 5 star service or amenities but that is what we got! Nice rooms, historic but updated decor, great friendly service, even an early check-in (because we planned ahead and asked for it.) I stayed here with my very large family... six siblings and our children for my Father's funeral. We booked a couple of suites, a couple of rooms and used the large commons area for gatherings between the weekend's events. I remember all of us sitting around on the couches reminiscing about Dad right next to the antique and nostalgic looking clerk's desk, complete with a fancy bell to ring for service. There's a piano in the meeting room, which opens up to a quaint patio and outdoor seating area. The room, depending on whether it was a suite or a basic room had plenty of space, especially considering it's an historic building remodeled. Come here with reasonable expectations as you should any place you stay... I assure you you'll be quite pleased. Yes the floors did squeak here and there, so I had to fight the urge to play hopscotch in the hallways but I'm 45 years old so maybe that's for the best. ;) read more

A beautiful old hotel complete with creaky floors. Loved the view of the river from both the lounge and our room. Easy to find on Main Street in a quaint town on the north shore of the Columbia river. The only drawback was the heat - or lack of it. A newly installed central heating system kept the halls and lobby toasty warm but our room was ice cold. We had to use the small space heater provided, which helped but it was noisy and distracting. read more

Business trip started with this hotel that had in and out wi fi. bistro downstairs allowed us to use their's even after hours as we still had to work. There is no one there to check you in or out and no one onsite for help. Floors are very creeky so we tip toed around until we realized there was only one other person there. Very strong scented candle melting which the hotel is old and musty so guess it is to mask that. Very creepy that our every move is watched on survellience cameras. Guess their too lazy to take care of their customers. Hate that people smoke on the patio because that was the only outdoor space in the evening and in Sept it was very warm. Equal to a motel 6 but 1/2 the size for twice the price though cleaner. On our walk to a restaurant we discovered cabins at the marina. Very nice with kitchens for the same price. We'll stay there from now on. read more
