We stayed in the Hotel Bilger Eck for three nights in late July, during a heat wave that sent temperatures into the 30s. Fortunately for us, our third floor (just below the roof) triple room had an air conditioner that worked quite well. Unfortunately for our travel companions, theirs did not, and they spent three hot nights with a not-so-cool fan blowing on them. When we asked the proprietor to fix the A/C in their room, they said there was nothing they could do about it, and instead dropped 10 €/night from the bill (about 7% of the total). Not super-helpful.
Otherwise the hotel was fine. Everything (aside from the A/C) was in good condition and seemed new. There's an elevator that fits about four adults, and the bathroom and shower in our room worked well. As you can see from the photos, the slant from the roof into the 3rd floor rooms is significant. There are a few single rooms that have a shared bathroom in the hallway; worth noting.
Breakfast is included, and like most other German hotels, is ample. Fruit, cheese, meats, yogurt, bread, and cereal are in good supply. Everything was tasty. read more
