First time at this new and modern spacious hotel. It's about 15mins by taxi from the train station and just 10 slow minutes down the hill to the playa de la Concha. Big lobby area that's very airy and lots of sofas, chairs snd windows, giving a great view . They offer breakast for an extra cost. My first room assigned on fourth floor had a strong smell of tabacco. Since I am allergic to cigarette smoke I was not going to keep that room. When I told the girl at the reception desk, she got all rude and practically threw the key to a different too on the desk counter - the lobby was empty. This newer room didn't smell of tabacco and is a bigger room on the second floor. Later I'll take a walk if it's not raining. The hotel offers free wifi which isn't locked by any type of security at all. There are three wifi sources available, all identified by the hotel name and all are very strong on the second floor. The only elevator I saw and used is quite small and narrow, and if you have a suitcase bigger than 20 inches, you nay encounter a problem trying to fit it in with just one person riding up. The key is very strange, reminding me of one of those modern car keys which just needs to be close to the ignition to function without actually sliding a card in, or inserting into a key lock. Once the key is close enough to the door handle, a green light flashes, indicating your room door is unlocked. If you carry and use a lot of electronics, in my second floor room there are five electrical outlets for the spanish 220v 2-round prong plugs: either side of the two twin beds, next to the door, in the bathroom, and lastly behind the mini-fridge that sits on the floor outside the bathroom. Small flat-screen TV gets a lot of channels including financial news, English language and more. In all, great hotel in appearance but the smoking incident left a poor impression on my stay. I have to compliment this hotel for using bathroom items for their guests that are wrapped in PAPER instead of plastic, as seen in my pix of these paper-wrapped guest soap bars. This soap bar is very thin and will probably last only two showers. There's a pool outside!!! A very nice pool on their outdoor terrace below the lobby. One thing I should mention: though they have a dining area for breakfast they don't seem to have a cafeteria for guests. I say this because unless you arrived in your personal car, it's a 15 min walk down the hill before the first bar/restaurant is sighted. There is a restaurant next to the hotel on the street outside, but I haven't dined there. Another thing is I put the DO NOT DISTURB sign on my room door and when I returned hours later, the room was made up. That was my first day here and I had told the clerk downstairs. This second day I told the maid personally and she thanked me profusely. read more
