This hotel will charge you handsomely for amenities, a good location, and sleeping space for all. But all they provide is an a/c unit that shuts off after running a few hours, too few beds, AND they are located as far from Forte dei Marmi you can get while still maintaining the zipcode. We spent a very hot and sleepless night at this hotel, had to argue extensively before the hotel owner would provide us with a bed for the 4th person and were not within walking distance of Forte dei Marmi. The owner even tried to cheap their way out of printing us a receipt when we left, asking us to just print it ourselves at home! There are plenty other great hotel in this area - don't get tricked by these people!

I am guilty of choosing the Venezia, and admit it was out of desperation and fear that we wouldn't find alternate lodging. I also admit that after staying at the Eurostars in Berlin and the Gallery Hotel Art in Florence, we were a bit spoiled, but when we arrived at the Venezia we weren't too thrilled. First, it's out of the way from where you want to be in the area. It's a bit of a drive from both the Forte city center and also Pietrasanta itself which is where the majority of the restaurants and shopping is. When I return to the area (which will hopefully be soon), I hope to stay in Pietrasanta, which I LOVED! Back to the Venezia. The room was very clean and the staff were eager to help. They even gave us a great restaurant recommendation when one of our reservations fell through. But, it wasn't what we'd hoped for or expected. The WiFi doesn't really work well, at all, if ever. The hotel is frequented by many families with small children that may be heard crying and shouting at all hours. The room itself was not luxurious, not in the least bit. When we tried to check out early Monday morning we were forced to wait about 20 minutes because the front desk person hadn't started their shift yet. The Venezia was obviously not the right choice for two young, single women looking to have fun. For goodness sake we were told to keep quiet both nights we came in past two after clubbing! We weren't drunk or being loud, but apparently the sound of our heels on the floor disturbed the sleeping children. In sum, we felt we paid too much for our stay considering what we got in return. So, if you aren't a family with kids, or if you plan to take part in the bars and restaurants in Pietrasanta and don't have a car, do not stay here! A tax ride into Pietrasanta is about 30 Euro, but parking is even more of a mission. Last tip: if you stay here and need a cab, don't let the front desk call one for you. They have a deal with a local taxi cab who charges about 5 to 10 euros more each way than any other taxi cab driver!

We stayed a night at this hotel while making our way from Tuscany up to Cinque Terre and found it…read moreto be a beautiful hotel with great amenities. The hotel lobby is spacious and modern. Check-in was quick, and we found our room to be larger than usual per Italian standards. The bedroom and bathroom had everything we needed. We only got a little pool time due to rainy weather, but it is a beautiful pool. The poolside drink service did not work well, and we had to go to the bar to order. Drinks were good, but not any gluten-free lunch options. The gym and spa were both nice. We loved the heated lappool, sauna, and steam rooms. There were definitely signs of wear, though; needing maintenance and repair of the tile and calk. Good breakfast with gf options, including a nice little gf croissant they warmed up for me. Location was just across the road to the beach and boardwalk and an easy walking distance (10 mins or so) to the part of town with most of the restaurants and bars.

I can't quite tell you how much this hotel means / meant to me…read more Every Summer, every year, for twenty years, my family would spend two weeks at the Augustus with a large group of friends. Until the Russians came. Forte Dei Marmi is a fickle place: like the Cannes of Italy, it is subject to the whims of the fashionistas, and therefore becomes a plaything for whichever country is having a currency cash flow. In the twenty four years I've been going there, I've seen the place over run by the English, then the Germans, and now the Russians. For twenty years, the manager of the Augustus, and most of the staff were like a second family to us: coming there every Summer was like coming home. But then the Russians over ran the place with their big tips and even bigger breasts, and suddenly the hotel didn't want to know. They went from booking us the same rooms at the end of every Summer to becoming pushy and difficult about finding any rooms at all, and suddenly all the old regulars moved on to other hotels...including us. The thing is, yes the hotel is beautiful, yes, it is one of the best places to stay in Forte, but compared to the rest of the world, it's actually just a rather tired and old fashioned hotel. It really pains me to say it because it means so much to me - and the sister / annex hotel, the Lido, is still beautiful and one of the most charming places I've ever stayed. Throw in the fact that you're paying three times the price as you would in another part of the world, and you're not really on to a winner. If bling bling and caviar is your thing, head to the Augustus; if not, find another hotel which will really showcase the charm of Forte.
