Booked in December 2 tickets for Moulin Rouge in September 2025…read more Was feeling very ill, dizzy, losing consciousness so went to doctors and was rushed to hospital London. A mass has been found on the left side of my brain and is spreading. I have had treatment, but at this point I have been told its a life limiting condition. I contacted to cancel my tickets, because well, and I can use that money now to help with home costs. They replied to me that I needed to get them proof that I was 'not going to be here'. They then said that they can swap my tickets for another performance so I don't get to miss it. I am in Derby. They want me to go to London to get a sick note from my surgeon, or to download a form from ATG and then send it to my busy surgeon, get him to fill it out and send it back to me to prove it. As a last ditch attempt, the Palace Theatre Box Office was approached, and they turned around and said that if I am unwilling to follow the process with ATG, there is nothing they can do. Or alternatively I could sell my tickets on Twickets, because I am obviously well enough for that! I.am absolutely flabbergasted. Sickened. Disgusting service. This is the first review, but my family are going to leave a review on every review site, all media sites. They have the transcripts of the conversation. The low down dirty sick thing about it all though is that I paid for refund protection. Which means absolutely NOTHING. HORRIBLE INSENSITIVE PEOPLE. Never been so sickened!

For a…read morelong time I think I romanticised the idea of this venue, it could do no wrong but the reality is it's not actually all that. The building is stunning and steeped in history, that itself is profoundly beautiful but reflecting on the actual experience of seeing a show here, it can be hit or miss. Pros: Many, many amazing shows passing through The building itself The history The stage Location Cloak room Concession prices on tickets Merchandise stall for those that want a souvenir Cons: Can be very noisy during a show (can hear the dryers from the toilets, mobile phone interference affecting the speakers, ushers don't really tell noisy customers off) Limited leg room Certain areas have very restricted views e.g. mid/back of the stalls Expensive drinks and snacks Tickets can be overpriced I'm an avid theatre goer and have seen so many classics here, I will not stop going but I think things needs to be tightened up. Going to the theatre is a real treat, anything that brings the experience down needs addressing.

You plunder flora and fauna, antiquities, important cultural objects from other peoples. You compete with other rich, white dudes to create the biggest collection of the most random things someone could think of. "I have one of every butterfly on each of the inhabited continents!" "Oh yeah, my stuffed 2-toed sloth is bigger than yours!" Fast forward to the present, and the current caretakers of this hodgepodge of objects of dubious provenance are tasked with creating cohesive exhibits for the public. There are some really interesting pieces in the museum. I was able to hold a 2,000 year-old carved stone perfum vial. See the cross section of a turtle skeleton (so cool how the spines follow the inner curve of the shell), admire a stuffed porcupine. It was fascinating to think about what caught the fancy of people in the past. I would have loved to have seen more discussion of how these objects came to be, and what that tells us about classism, racism, and the history of imperialism. Be that as it may, I'm glad to see that someone's past light fingeredness is at least entertaining and educating the public today, instead of collecting dust in a storage facility somewhere.

In fact this does seem to be the new way of doing things by the council - let's build things on brown field sites and aim to create a new urban hub around it. With very little passing traffic, it's going to take a while to really become a mainstream destination but it is very easily reached with Deansgate and Oxford Road stations around 5 mins walk. On this occasion I was looking for somewhere to work for a few hours and sat upstairs in their cafe bar grabbing a couple of flat whites and a bacon bap . Not bad all round and pretty quiet on a Monday morning. It did get much busier at lunch time so it's good to see peeps really enjoying this offering! You can sit outside on deck chairs and tables and there's a cafe downstairs just selling drinks and cake.

There is a cute coffee shop that sells the usual tea, coffee, cake and small plates so it's perfect for a coffee and a browse. Fun Fact: Back in the day this used to be the local fish market, the original features including the tiles still remain in tact. On some days I swear you can smell residual fishiness but that could just be my mind playing tricks on me!

Me being the investigative yelper that I am said, 'I have no idea. Let's have a look.' Thank goodness we did, because I thought places like this only existed in small towns, at Cedar Farm (a beautiful little crafts-driven farm with shops in Mawdesley that I highly recommend... ahh, my rural homeland radius) or in Brighton. Literally, I felt like I'd stepped into somewhere along the seafront in my brother's resident city, because the last time I saw open studios and handmade jewellery for sale, I was indeed in that picturesque place by the sea. From the outside the building is pretty, but when you walk in it really takes your breath away. Delightful little exhibitions, artists at work... I instantly made a mental note to bring mothers here, mine or in-law, the next time they're in Manchester as they love places like this. The centre has such a lovely quaint feel to it, and goodness me, tranquil? I couldn't have felt more tranquil had you tipped a load of Kalms tablets down my throat and given me a Slanket and a chocolate Horlicks. And whether you're naturally a chilled out person or slightly neurotic and over-organised like myself, no doubt walking in here will instil in you a sense of calm that you'll struggle to find anywhere else in Manchester. The work for sale is exceptional, and I myself was instantly attracted to the wall hangings comprising of collages of iconic Manchester photographs, such as street signs, buildings, bands, restaurants and so forth. I could have stayed in here for hours. You're bound to come home with something special and unique here gifts-wise. Cafe Aromat has its own website and looks absolutely mouthwatering, so I promise that when we pop in again I'll get some munch there and let you know how it is. I know, I suffer for my art don't I. *Winks.*

It is located in a large, old building which does look good in the city centre, the inside is a little dark but that's part of the quirk behind The Printworks. There's always a large security presence, probably down to the bars/nightlife atmosphere here, with multiple entrances. It is across the way from Manchester Arndale and Victoria Station, so it can get pretty busy! It is a shame to see many businesses close here during the years, they have tried their best to re-occupy the vacant units to the point where it doesn't feel empty. 4*

Pros Wasabi, Wagamama, Nando's, great cinema, Henry J Beans and Hard Rock Café for junk food and cocktails, Papa G's, a little fish and chip shop, a newsagent that's open until stupidly late Cons Hen parties, Waxy O' Connors at the weekends, Opus, hen parties, Opus, Pure, Café Rouge, shaven-headed oiks in shiny shirts, hen parties, Opus, over-zealous security guards, coming out of the cinema sober when everyone around you is drunk, Opus. The Printworks looks impressive, we can't deny it. It's interestingly put together, if a little Trafford Centre-esque fake. It's meant to be a Mecca of entertainment but the fact that so many of its clientele are less than discerning kind of puts a dampener on it for me, so I pretty much duck, dive in, get the stuff out of it that I want and ignore everything else. I adore the cinema here and always feel weird going to any other one so I have to keep coming back. At least with Wagamama you don't actually have to enter the Printworks itself to pull up a bench and slurp some nice noodles. And I've only just realised that Becca's review matches mine exactly - I promise I wrote this before I read it. Great minds!
