We came in with a group of 11, and were promptly seated and served well! Our waiter was Mel, and…read moreshe was quite attentive, making sure we were good on drinks and accommodating all dietary restrictions. She even went above to check with the kitchen to ensure certain foods were made allergen friendly! The only downside we had was the music slightly too loud at times. Aside from that, we all left happy with our food choices and full. Will be coming back!

I had a very nice Sunday lunch here today with my boyfriend and family. We booked ahead and I'm…read moreglad we did, as the place was quite packed by 1 pm. It was a windy, cloudy day but we still very much enjoyed the experience of walking up into the treehouse, and playing around a bit on the bridges that wind through the trees around the restaurant. The restaurant itself is a bit like a fairy-tale setting - everything made of wood, big wooden chairs that are fit for a king, a fireplace in the middle, and sparkly white lights draped throughout. At night I'm sure the effect is stunning! The servers were all incredibly friendly, timely, and gracious throughout. Definitely a reason to come. It is pricey, with two courses for £18.50, and I must say I do think it's a bit overpriced although we enjoyed all of our food. I had the goat cheese and beetroot salad which was elegantly presented. The beet was sliced very thin and drizzled with basil oil, and the pieces of cheese were generously portioned and creamy. Little walnuts and micro greens as well, very tasty. A good light starter. My mom also really enjoyed her potato leek soup and said she liked how much it tasted like leeks, and wasn't too thick and heavy and potato-y. I had the pork for my lunch - all the roasts come with two roast potatoes, mash, steamed veggies, and a Yorkshire pudding. The Yorkshire puddings were really fantastic - if such a simple thing can be "fantastic" but I think it can! The veggies were fine, all very simply prepared. I liked my pork, but wasn't over the moon about it. It was a bit tough, and the mustard and apple sauce was good, but not great. The beef, however, looked absolutely fantastic and cooked perfectly. I was quite jealous of my dad's plate! We decided not to get dessert or any drinks, so can't comment there. All-in-all, most people enjoyed their meal very much. I think it's a bit pricey for the quality - though it was good, when you're paying that much you want to be blown away, don't you? But it would be lovely for a special occasion in the evening when you can truly get the effect from all the lights. But I think for a Sunday roast dinner, you could probably get one just as nice at other places in town. Still, the atmosphere and the friendly servers made you feel more like you "got what you paid for" in the end.

This Italian cafe had amazing, flavorful appetizers, pasta, and dessert. The white sauce with…read moremushrooms was drizzled all over our toast appetizer and I got a pasta dish with the same sauce. It was dreamy and delicious. We finished with limoncello cheesecake. It wasn't heavy or dense, but just the right balance of light, creamy, and lemony flavors.

Cheap and cheerful Italian cafe in Alnwick. Great place to get fed for not a lot of money. Service is friendly, although can be understaffed and might occasionally take a little too long to get your drink, or some such thing (might be just one server for the whole place). My fiancé and I were starving and started with an order of calamari that was pretty small - maybe 8 rings, and they were onion ring shaped, big fellas. Not the little bite sized ones. They were tasty, but underseasoned and needed big time salt and pepper. Nice light, crisp coating though. We then split a 12 inch Parma pizza (tomato sauce, arugula/rocket, prosciutto, Parmesan) and a main-size order of spicy seafood pasta. We were told that the same amount of dough is used for the 9 and 12 inch pizzas, so the 9 inch pizzas are thicker. We wanted a more thin crust and went for the 12. It sounds like a lot of food, but it really wasn't too much, I was just full enough and not to bursting. The prices are low, but the portions aren't huge to match. I really didn't care for the pizza crust, far too chewy and not crisp enough, but I did love the peppery arugula and flavorful Parmesan scattered all over it. They also don't cut the pizza into slices, which is sort of strange, maybe they will if you ask for it. The seafood pasta was pretty good too, a comforting if not highly memorable dish. Not as spicy as advertised. Everything is definitely fresh-tasting, but I don't think the food is especially inspired and I'd pass on a pizza next time. Still, with solid and inexpensive dishes (cooked by real Italians!) it's a reliable place to grab a nice lunch.
