    Canned street corn, gross
    Rachel S.

Probably one of the worst food trucks I've had. Looking at the photos my expectations were high but the experience I had was nothing like it. Granted most photos that look good are the tacos but I wasn't gonna spend $7 on a taco. So instead I spent $16 on a burrito that was terrible. They ripped up rotisserie chicken light and dark meat threw in some shredded(not melted) cheese and that was it. Oh wait I also forgot the crispy potatoes inside the burrito aka French fries. Which were likely frozen fries. The description said it came with onions and aioli sauce none of which was even in my burrito so they probably gave me the wrong order, but I don't think that would've made the burrito any better. Then $10 for street corn which is literally CANNED corn, it was not good. How are you going to charge that much for canned corn. Then the workers were pretty rude and didn't seem to know what was going on, mixing up names and orders. Then it tells you when the food is ready which they suggest way longer than it really is. I even went earlier than the suggested time and the food was just sitting there. I most likely would not eat from this truck again unless they put more work into it. Let's just hope their tacos are as good as the photos look. But I wouldn't suggest the items I ordered

The frozen drinks looked good but we didn't have the opportunity to try any! A bunch of cool spots to hang out in here too, and this photo is taken from the top of a bus on the property!

We were the only customers there! I had seen on-line that three food trucks would be present, but there were just two -The Gulla Grille (Brazilian) and Taste of Home (Puerto Rican). Aunties Pasta (Italian) wasn't there. The designers of Westside really need to get a lot of credit for the beautiful job they did in salvaging this forlorn corner of Hartford. The dozens of wood tables and benches were made from old recycled industrial spools, and they are really amazing. There are corn hole boards, beer pong table, Giant Jenga, Connect Four, a movie screen, a music stage, and a bar spread throughout the property so there's a ton of things to do there. I had a kebab plate from Gulla and my wife had a cheeseburger from Taste of Home. She was given one of those buzzing gizmos to tell her when her food was ready. I knew my lunch was ready when the guy flagged me down like he was hailing a cab. I love the concept of food truck courts and I suspect Westside is quite a bit busier in the evenings that it was lunch time on a holiday weekend Saturday, when we had the place to ourselves..

I've got a hot water bottle, but nothing i've got'll take the place of you holdin me tight. I've got steam heat". (from the 1954 Broadway musical The Pajama Game) Steamed cheeseburgers seem to be a Connecticut thing, and Meriden, CT's Ted's Restaurant might be Ground Zero for the genre. It was established in 1959 and soon became a popular destination for Meriden's many factory workers who worked around the clock. Td's stayed open until 4 AM to accommodate them. Ted's doesn't fry their burgers in a pan or grill them on a grill. Nope - they steam them in a steel cabinet and serve them with a scoop of melted cheese and your choice of free toppings, like ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce tomato, chopped onions, pickles or even bacon. Their food truck is named "Steam Machine" and it was at Cheshire Craft Brewing today. In fact, it's there every Friday night and weekends. It can also be found at Hartford area attractions like Bushnell Park, the Xfinity Theatre, and at Pratt & Whitney Stadium for UConn Huskies football games. Our cheeseburgers were $8 each and they were great! I will defer to Yelper Keli R's epic description below: "Slathered high, drippy, messy, greasy with fresh vegies. It was a b*tch to eat and worth all the struggle". Yes, they sure were Keli.
