The hotel is a converted castle with historical ties to Joan of Arc. The architecture is really cool and truly takes you back in time. It's also located overlooking a rushing river with some mild rapids. We stayed in a room equipped to house 5. It has 2 huge bed rooms (3 beds total) a nice sized bathroom and a flat screen tv. Though idk why you'd watch tv if your stating at this hotel. You'd better get outside and enjoy the area! The room is decorated in a mix of Asian and Mexican furniture. Very eclectic and super cool. It also has an old record player with many different records to choose from. I was really impressed by this. There is also a restaurant attached to the hotel. It's small with only about 6 tables so I'd make a reservation. The food is great and the service is too. I had the veal kidney. An interesting dish that I would recommend. During the meal a large cat that lives on the grounds came into the restaurant. Some may have been put off by this but I found it to be quite charming. The room (which as I said is huge!) came out to 130€ a night which is truly a steal. The dinner was reasonably priced as well. I highly recommend this hotel to any traveler. For the castles of the Loire we spent a total of three days sleeping in Domaine de Montizeau. Lovely place next to the village - Monçay, which even our car navigation could not find. For guests there are four guest rooms in a separate building, which adjoins another building, which houses the hall to eat breakfast. On the property there are plenty of well-kept lawn and a few parking spaces. The rooms themselves are beautifully decorated with great attention to detail. From what we found out , the owner and hostess in one person in each of these rooms personally took care of the design. It is rural, and yet noble and bourgeois. The great thing about this place is the breakfast that , despite the fact that French-style (sweet but at my request came even cheese) , is an impressive taste and quantity. It is worth mentioning that everything served on the table is prepared by the hostess. Including homemade yogurt. Guests can also order dinner. We had the opportunity to eat it in the company of a charming French couple. We could therefore try homemade French cuisine in an atmosphere of very french meeting. Summing: wonderful location, beautiful rooms, delicious breakfast and a very welcoming atmosphere.
