I walked over from the airport at midnight and felt like I was completely safe. They have 24 hour concierge service which is very convenient as well. The total for the night was around 14-16 euros. They also emailed me about an all-you-can-eat dinner for only 5 euros, which sounds like a great deal. I appreciated the low price for the stay, but of course it was low for a reason. The rooms were really humid and did not have any kind of ventilation. Even though I used their fresh sheets somehow I ended up finding bug bites on my body over the next few days. They are very accommodating and convenient for travelers, but I probably would look around at other options (if they were cheaper but better) before coming back.

It was set up pretty modern with 3 computers in the lobby and couches. But my absolute favorite part was having a whole pizza for only 4 euros and the fact that it was arguably one of the best meals I had in Italy all together. They also have a buffet of pizza, pasta, rice dishes with one drink for 7 euros, which was super good. Overall great location also next to a lot of great bars and restaurants for aperitivo! This is the cleanest most well organized hostel I've ever stayed at in Europe. The rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, shared areas are all impeccable. There's also family dinners on some days so make sure to let them know you can make it. For 5 euros, you get a homecooked meal, wine, and great conversation with travelers from around the world. I would definitely recommend you stay here! For an affordable price and unbeatable location - not to mention its right around the corner from a fantastic gelato place!

It is brand new, and every inch of it is so clean that it reminds me of a Craft and Barrel showcase. One of my favorite things about this hostel is the great breakfast. Usually hostels don't have breakfast, or they only have really expensive and mediocre breakfast. This hostel has a wonderful breakfast- you get free foccacia that was freshly made that morning. I honestly thought that they were going to ration out the foccacia because it was that good, but they always have enough for everyone, even the ones who wake up late. I really appreciated how welcoming and generous the staff was. The staff celebrated my birthday with me and I was so glad I decided to stay here for that special occasion. I was also really thrilled that they held a pasta making class for 6 euro, they did a great job with that. Most pasta making classes on tour sites like Viator are 50 and up, what a bargain for 6 euro! To be honest, this hostel pretty much gets a solid 10 in every category I could think of. Wonderful location in a high end building in a chic neighborhood. Close the train station to take you to the Cinque Terre (it's only a 7 minute ride). Chic interior that really sets the place apart. Crowd: somehow there were a lot of Asians that booked this hostel. I was in a room of all Asian girls, I'm Asian myself and maybe they wanted to put us all together? Hostel: the rooms are freaking huge! It's old though but huge! The place is sooo big. They have courtyards and garden areas, big cafeteria that you can order food. The breakfast is the best breakfast ever for any hostel!! I'm not talking about bread, cereal, and a muffin. I'm talking about a selection of breads, sweets, real food (rice Wth seafood, tomato rice, meatballs with sauce, little hot dogs with veggies, eggs, eggs with bacon, a killer drink machine that makes the best cappuccino!) the breakfast was amazing and they did not cheap out. It was buffet style as well. The bathrooms were plentiful with showers. There's a 2am curfew and a 11pm quiet time. So if you wanna party go somewhere else, because the receptionist guy will give you crap. And tell you to shut up. The wifi is everywhere! And it's pretty good. Hey also have computers you could use as well. And they sell food and water for cheap. They don't try to over charge. A big water bottle was less then 1 euro! Other places sell that for 3 euros. Price was really good for hostel, under 30 euros. This was probably the best hostel I stayed at! Totally recommend if you are in Florence!

As a solo traveler, this place was perfect! First of all, Romina was amazing, amazing hostess with the most-ess! She literally knows everything and anything that's going on in Florence; and she even has her own app!! From the best tiramisu in town to live music, to the "hot new restaurant" - she'll guide your way. So this gorgeous "hostel" was previously an elementary school... gorgeous architecture with marble floors! (I'm sure not too many hostels have that...) But if you can remember your old small gymnasium.. well yeah, that's the main "lobby" part of Tasso, with a bunch of tables and sofas to lounge. And the gym stage is where Tasso hosts the frequent local music acts that play on the weekend! Yeah... how cool is that?!? :) My solo room was quite large, extremely comfortable bed... locker inside to stow my belongings. (Just remember to bring your own combo lock with.) Shared bathroom was totally fine.. i never had to wait; nor do I think I even remember hearing anyone else go in there. ?? Loved this place! It was a total yelp find.. I can't recommend high enough. And I'll absolutely stay here again with future visits to Florence. Being on the other side of the Arno was great... it was certainly "less touristy". I stayed in Florence for a few days, so I even found "my own coffee shop" that i'd frequent because I stayed at Tasso. Tons of charm... amazing service.... totally secure location... comfortable beds... and I met the coolest people from all over the world!

AMBIANCE/COMMON AREA: Friendly, laid-back atmosphere amongst the guests. Besides the dining room, there is only 1 main common area, which is small and gets crowded every night. There is a TV and DVDs available so one can chill and watch. There is a mini-fridge and microwave available in this area. The view from the common room is just gorgeous! STAFF: The staff are locals. They are polite and laid-back. They sell bus tickets to go to La Spezia. Free shuttle rides with a 3-night stay or more. FOOD: You can see the chefs cooking in the kitchen. Niko is the head chef. He does a fantastic job with the meals. Damiano is also great. Both are great cooks and nice! Maybe one day I'll come back and ask for private cooking tutorials (seriously though). Dinner is made to order. My favorite dishes were: the breakfast yogurt with fruits and bits of shaved chocolate, gnocchi, spaghetti with mussels/tuna, Chantilly cream dessert, and tiramisu. All simple, but super delicious! Prices are very reasonable. I enjoyed the food here over the Italian restaurants I have been to on my trip around Italy. The menu changes every 2 to 3 days. DOWNSIDES: -Fridge is too small. So you can't really buy much items. -Only 2 outlets in the 4-bed female dorm room. -The bathroom could use more wall hooks and/or a mini-table to place your items for showering. -There is no activity to foster social interaction. Public buses run from near the train station in La Spezia to just outside the hostel (but tend to run a little late). It is quiet and peaceful in the town but not many options in the way of cafes, bars, or restaurants. The hostel itself has a very nice outside garden patio area for lounging as well as a comfortable sun room upstairs. A continental breakfast is available for 4 euro until 9:45am. Snacks, drinks, and full meals also available throughout the day. Prices are a little less than what you would find in town. Wifi is pretty decent, although can be a little slow at night when everyone is using it. There is no wifi in the rooms, only in common space. The staff is friendly and helpful with directions and train/bus info. Free shuttle rides to and from Riomaggiore are offered, but need to be booked in advance and have limited seating. The rooms themselves are sparse as expected for hostels. We booked a private room with a double bed--quite spacious, especially with the vaulted ceiling. There is some storage space for clothes as well as a TV which we did not use. It was never too hot or to cold or too noisy. The hostel does have quiet hours and a curfew. The beds are decent but we didn't use the provided blanket, it looked a little worse for wear. The fitted sheet on our mattress also had some really disturbing stains (yes plural), so we lay on top of the flat sheet. I would bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper since the town bells rings frequently starting early in the morning around 5am. There are many bathrooms and showers so we never really encountered a wait. The toilets are pretty clean and the showers have hot water, but some of them can be a really tight space. You basically need to go in there in a towel and leave in a towel because there is not much space to set your clothes and toiletries down without something falling onto the wet ground. It is not set up for a luxurious shower, but rather a quick simple rinse and rub down, which is to be expected in a hostel. You also can't stay in your rooms from 10:30 to 2pm when the bathrooms are being cleaned, but upstairs is open. tl;dr Pros: inexpensive, friendly and helpful staff, good sized rooms, hot showers, free shuttle rides Cons: showers need a little updating, stained sheets

There was no language barrier as well. They even loaned us beach towels and a umbrella for the beach, which was so kind of them! The hotel breakfast was solid. Rooms were small, but should be expected for a small island. It's one of the hotels that aren't incredibly hard to get to with luggage by walking from the train station (unlike the third city in Cinque terre). Only a 12 minute walk with our big suitcase! Rooms were clean and the bathroom was standard and came with hair dryer. Most importantly, the AC worked perfectly.
