The only grain you could see was the gouges from his drum sander. Nails not set or filled. He claims to be an expert but will not stand behind his work and only knows poly urethane finishes. Ran over a staple with his belt and the same mark went up and down the floor. Said he would fix but crapped out. I fixed it for my client for free, money for materials out of my own pocket. Thanks Joe!

I was leaving town that day until my move-in a few weeks later but had just been convinced that yes I should have the floors refinished before we moved in. Luckily, Wan was able to come over that day, and give me a fair estimate unlike the other floor finishing people I spoke to that day. He seemed a bit curt on the phone but was friendly, professional and clearly hard working in person. I checked his reviews online, which seemed mixed but I had a feeling that he was going to do a good job so we said let's do it. He was flexible with our payment and responsible with our keys, and he was understanding when I made a logistical mistake coordinating some with my neighbors. I imagine some jobs are more complicated or that some folks might have miscommunications or more exacting expectations. but he and his team did an excellent job on 2+ floors and 2 stair cases in a satin finish for us.

Wan was a referral from a friend. Came out on a Saturday to measure and give us an estimate which I…read morethought was a good first impression. The estimate came in at almost half the cost of the other we received and we decided to go with Wan. He could get started during a week we weren't going to be in the house anyway and our referral had a good experience. The floors look great but my baseboards and shoe moulding are completely covered in the stain and poly. I'm talking every single square inch on my first floor. They don't tape anything off and take no care in ensuring the stain doesn't get all over the place. I now have a $3000 baseboard and paint project on my hands that I didn't sign up for. I texted and called him after the job was complete to understand what we can do to address this and I haven't heard back. The picture I added shows about 5 feet of baseboard/moulding in my office. The entire first floor looks like this. You get what you pay for.

We are planners and wanted to schedule the painting and carpet well ahead of the move in date. It was like pulling teeth to get him to call us back, let alone, order the paint. It became obvious that we were going to have to let him go and we were scheduled to move in a week. We were desperate. We don't know anyone in the area. We went online to Yelp and Angie's List and chose Yanni Fikaris, Custom Renovations because of so many positive reviews. Yanni and company are terrific! Working with him vs. the other contractor was like night and day. He was so professional, responsive and confident, while at the same time listening to what we wanted. He had the paint ordered and started that next week. I was especially impressed because after the first day, his apprentice, Matthew, noticed that the painting was not up to their standards. I will always appreciate Matthew, for his fine eye and integrity. Yanni let the crew go and brought in a whole new crew, actually coming in himself over the weekend to finish the job in time. And the result is stellar! I was happy with it right away, but even happier with it as I live with it and notice all the fine craftsmanship and detail Yanni, Matthew and crew put into the work. They did a fine job from the evenly painted walls down to the baseboards and the trim. They were thorough, professional and gave us excellent service. I highly recommend Yanni Fikaris, Custom Renovations. Don't bother going with another contractor - go with Yanni first! And by the way, his prices are also very reasonable. We will be hiring him to remodel our kitchen soon.

I just had two bed rooms painted yesterday. To begin, I will say, Jay the owner, is a very nice and…read moreprofessional person. His two staff were also good guys. The problem was after they completed the job in 6 hours, I walked into see the walls un-sanded, doors and trim partially caulked, my door hinges painted, and just a very messy job to my disappointment. I also have dried dripping paint on my wood trim. All other estimate stated two days to complete the job. First day, prep the walls (sand, spackle, caulk, smooth out, etc.) and then next day paint so I was befuddled by Jay telling me they were finished the job. I could not understand how they could prepare and paint two rooms and finish in 6 hours. Jay told me they do not caulk, do not fill holes, or spackle anything in any of their paint jobs to my dismay. If I would have known this information upfront I would not have allowed them to proceed. In good faith, I paid Jay in full and he said he would come back and fix anything I wanted. He did so today, but to my misfortune, the job needs to be completely done over by new painters. I wish Jay and his team the best going forward. Everyone just needs to be crystal clear on the expectations and have it clearly spelled out in writing.

Swayd Epoxy Floors beat other quotes by over $1,000, which made me skeptical -- but their 5-star reputation checked out.
