I received a text indicating that I needed a starter for my 2002 SLK230 Mercedes. He quoted me 129 to 268 for the starter and 200 dollars for labor. The starter cost me 129 from AutoZone. The mechanic advised me to have it shipped to my home since no local store had one available. I opted to drive to Nashville to pick up the starter and the mechanic offered to come back on Sunday at 4 pm to replace the starter. Four o'clock comes and the mechanic is nowhere to be found, and this was the beginning of Red Flag warnings. This was a no-call, no-show, after multiple texts and several days later, he call me and he indicates that his phone had no charge. Throughout this process It was a lot of me trying to get in touch with the guy, he never kept his word. I think he took my kindness for weakness. After he finally changed out the starter it was time to pay him and the labor went from 200 dollars to 240, I was so excited my car was running I was ok paying him the extra 40 dollars; kindness for weakness. I asked him about fixing my window on the driver's side and he said he would come back the next day to fix the window -but asked if I wanted to pay in advance, stupid me said yes, so we are up to 280 dollars 80 of the 280 went flying out the window. Of course, he received advanced payment and once again he was a no-show, this time he had issues with his truck, and I received no call and no text to let me know what was going on. After sending a text he finally arrives, to fix the car window, at first, it just needed to be put back on track and that was forty dollars, but after that was done, he indicated that the cable needed to be changed out and that would be another 140 dollars. So I said ok I just wanted the window fixed but he would have to come back to do it. So, I continue to ignore the red flags, and I let him know about the different projects I wanted done, and if he could make a list of recommendations along with the price, he would charge to do them. He indicated he would text me with the information I requested within the next few minutes, he left and I got in my car to start it up and the car would not start but the car gave out a loud screeching noise, I immediately called him and he came back and did something and the car started again but still made a loud screeching noise when I started the car. You guessed it, now I have to find someone else to look at the car to get it up and running and of course, I never heard back from the guy by text or by phone. Also I'm out of 80 dollars and when he tried to fix the window the door panel just hang off and that's another added cost. I wrote this book so the next person will know to stop when you start seeing the red flags and so you won't have to go through so many red flags. Lesson number one if there are no reviews keep it moving, lesson number two do not pay for services in advance, lesson three DO YOUR RESEARCH before you let anyone work on your vehicle no matter how old your car.

They were honest and expressed the desire to cure the problem not treat symptoms. I was able to get my truck to replicate the code and after taking it back the mechanics again kept me informed and even called Ford to see about them doing warranty work. I dont know to many shops that want to save customers money! I trusted them to do the job and they exceeded my expectation. They did it at an extremely fair price and prompt service!
