He replaced vanities, regroutted tile and more. He is on time and works clean. His prices are always reasonable. I can't praise him enough.

But because I am no…read morelonger young enough to do many of them myself, I just kept adding the tasks to my "to do" list. When the list had several tasks, some of importance, some not so much, I decided to hire a handyman. I submitted the job to Yelp, and very quickly I received several responses. One response was from C & M Home Improvement. We very quickly arranged a visit, and I went over all the tasks with Mark while he took notes. Mark gave me an individual quote for my most important task that was more than fair and I immediately accepted. He literally took care of that task, and a couple of others that very day! I was surprised and very pleased with both the timing and the job that he did. These tasks included, 1) repairing a crack in the plastic roof on my back porch, 2) my drive-through gate would not stay closed, and 3) my gutter downspouts were loose or detached. These are the three tasks that Mark completed that very day. Subsequently, Mark sent me an individual quote for each of the remaining tasks from my list. All were very reasonable, and I agreed. Times were set up for these tasks and they were all completely quick and well. These remaining tasks included 1) cleaning out the attached shed, 2) cleaning and organizing the unattached shed, 3) power washing the patio, 4) installing a chimney cap to prevent squirrels from falling down chimney, 5) staining/sealing the full front porch, and 6) painting the wooden porch railings. For tasks 5 and 6, Mark power washed before applying the sealant and the paint). Mark also suggested that the house be power washed, and the gutters cleaned out. He quoted a price, again very reasonable, and I agreed. I am very satisfied with the work Mark performed and the timeliness. I am thrilled that all the tasks on my list were completed. I particularly liked the reasonable pricing...being on a fixed income in a difficult economy. Each task was completed as I described on that first day, without any further direction needed and without my presence required. Mark is personable, efficient, hard-working, and reliable. I will happily hire Mark again and highly recommend C & M Home Improvement.

If you're looking for an honest, dependable, knowledgeable, & professional home renovation…read morecontractor, I can't provide a higher recommendation than Jim Rice the owner of Jim Rice Custom Building. He's a NC licensed (Q.104901) & insured general contractor...yeah I did my homework... so expect him to bring a higher level of expertise to the job. I speak from personal experience that Jim is on the job doing the work himself or ensuring the job is done to his demanding expectations. He just finished our down-to-the-studs kitchen & half bath renovation in our 1980's built home....everything from removing outdated florescent lighting, popcorn ceilings, dropped soffits, a wooden backsplash, non-vented cooktop exhaust, improperly installed granite countertops and failing cabinets. The only thing left was the existing porcelain tile floors. We now have much taller solid wood cabinets, recessed & under cabinet lighting, spectacular quartz countertops, a properly vented cooktop exhaust as well as an intricate herringbone tile backsplash! Since we eliminated the cabinets above the cooktop, he suggested a tall narrow cabinet recessed into the wall to the right of the cooktop which provided easy access to the items needed for daily cooking. He's definitely a problem solver! Plus he replaced the frustrating wire shelving in the pantry with custom built shelving which provided tons of additional storage. With the removal of the dropped soffits, our kitchen feels much larger without adding any additional square footage. He also renovated a half bath that only had a shower and a toilet...no sink! Didn't get a before picture, but have included an after. All I can say is I'm in love with my dream kitchen and new bath! Reach out to Jim to discuss your project. I guarantee you'll be thrilled with his craftsmanship and his work. His mobile# is 252-626-6494 or mail: jamesrice04072@gmail.com

I requested custom rolling shelves to be installed in my master bathroom and a spot on the wall to be painted over where it chipped. I was informed that it would be doable to be completed by 23 November 2024. It was understood that I paid half the estimate upfront to deposit and then pay the remainder when the work is complete. So I paid half upfront to deposit; amount was $1,860.00. On the planned completion date, I received a text message that there is a family emergency and they requested if the completion date can be pushed back to 24 November 2024. I said to that the new date is fine. And then the family emergency is extended, and extended, and extended thru Friday, 6 December 2024 and then thru Saturday, 7 December 2024. We agreed that the work will be completed firmly by no later than Sunday, 8 December 2024. By this point I have been more than reasonable and accommodating to the life situation that they are going Through. On 10 December 2024, and I verified that there has been no work done at all on the shelves or the painting job. I called, texted, and emailed the team with no response. I had discovered the nature of the emergency; so of course it's a traumatic experience. Also, at the same time, I am working in a tight budget. I cannot just throw away $1,860.00. By the end of December, the shelves and paint job were take care of by another person. On 15 January 2025, they informed me that they are taking care of the refund; first tried Zelle, then Venmo and did not work, so we agreed on a cashier's check sent to me. The cashier's check was mailed to me on 28 January 2025. And since January 28th 2025, no further updates; complete silence. I send one final message expressing my frustration and anger with the refund process on 17 February 2025; and then two days later on 19 February 2025, they finally reach back out to me ONLY after I initiated the follow up message. They tell me the refund check was mailed back to the office; this information I did not know, so at this point, I am dissatisfied more that they did not reach out back to me to close out the refund process. On 19 February 2025, they confirm with tracking number from UPS that the refund check is mailed to me to my correct mailing address. I received the package from UPS. However, upon opening the check is not in the mailer; there is only a neon green envelope with '1900.00 Refund' written on the outside. I noticed the green envelope was ripped in one corner and the mailer was also ripped in one corner. At this point, I still haven't received the refund. So, we agreed to send the check via USPS instead. We confirmed with tracking number that the check was mailed via USPS on 5 March 2025. On 14 March 2025, I received the mailer. Inside the mailer package, the check was not there. Instead, there was a Customs and Declaration Form and their business card. No refund check. At this point, we have utilized two forms of mailing technique without success. So, understandably, I asked them to provide the refund electronically either via Zelle or Venmo. I have no word of whether or when my deposit will be refunded, since that is the honest and professional thing to do. At the end of the day, it is poor customer service. CREATIVE CONTRACTING NC LLC TEAM CANNOT BE TRUSTED. DO NOT HIRE THEM.
