Pre game 10/07/18 tailgait party/show
Scott D.

Get your stingers ready for the Hornets!!! 2nd time here for a family work event, which included tailgating before game and watching attending the game afterwards. They have a big following for the Hornets, get there right before the game begins for seats, otherwise they fill up fast. They have quite a bit of tents for business set up, doing give aways, selling the sac bee for a discount and get some hornet gear, free swag from local stores. They had the food trucks lined up, had a good amount here from bbq, Greek food, jamaican, starbucks truck, yup a starbucks mobile vehicle, dessert trucks too. Prices were lower than normal events I have been to, so that was cool gotta save the college students some money right!!! The bleachers are the standard butt hurt kind, so remember to bring something to sit on for comfort and if you accidentally drop stuff down there is a few sides that will let you down to the bleacher dungeon, be careful its dark, sticky and whatever else you can think of, so dont drop anything and you will be fine.

Haven #29 and Mollie #30. GO HORNETS!

The seats are upholstered and small with very little leg room. No cup holders. Security at the entrance will not allow any outside food, drink, reusable water bottles (even when empty), and all bags must be small. The sound system is very loud and the quality of the speakers seems good as the bass is very audible and crisp. There are lots of bathrooms, a few water fountains and water refilling stations, and lots of vendors for food. Water and soda are very expensive. The food is of higher quality restaurant-type food as there are several local businesses that also have a location inside the Golden1 Center.

Concerts especially with a pit = Approximately 19k people which still does NOT feel fire safe. Basketball games = 17,608 people. Almost 780k sq ft. Sacramento Kings home court. Parking = $20-100 for events. Plenty of street metered parking for $25, only 2 blocks away. If you preorder your parking, you can get it for $22. Decent amounts of food and drink options. Service - Security was smooth. Long lines but quick. Ushers were friendly. The men's room had an attendant, so clean. But mostly everything is self service. Glad someone opened the emergency exits, because thousands of people waiting to go down an escalator would have taken us over an hour! Price - Depending on your seats. My daughter waited until the last second and got discounted seats + parking, dinner, gas, toll, etc. totalled $200 for our father daughter date. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success since 2016. Even after 10 years of success, your arena still looks new.

I most recently came here for a soccer game with a group of friends and we had a great time. The parking and lines were well organized, we got through the security checkpoint quickly, and they had great food vendors. I didn't know water bottles are allowed here, so next time I will be bringing a reusable one. The game was a lot of fun to watch, but we were sat pretty high up which was a little nerve-racking so I would sit lower next time. Great venue!

It feels like a Band-Aid...probably because it is and has been for over a decade. The brand new venue, whenever it shows up https://www.republicstadium.com will hopefully be a good one. Sure, if you can't survive a couple hours without alcohol, you can splurge and sink some earnings in to a beverage and even scarf down some food for a premium. Passed on all that this time. This felt permanently temporary and with good reason- it is. It was exciting to stomp on the metal bleachers when that happened. It also felt like a high school rally where the kiddos would stomp and pout and make as much noise as they could. Found myself applauding because that seemed appropriate at the time but could not understand what seemed like trying to play an instrument with your feet on the metal bleacher. Parking seemed convenient enough. $15 for the evening with a back exit to split when the time came. It will cost more at the new place because this is left over space from a pretty much fallen California Exposition Center. They'll have to pave new lots. Yay. Bathrooms were porta-potties. Most of them were anyways. Yet another permanently temporary band-aid. Let's hope they don't take them out to the new stadium. Food venues looked like leftovers from the fair. Not about that. The "premium" spots gated and guarded by folks who want more money to sit down will hopefully get some real upgrades as opposed to the fancy net protecting them at this place. Had some dudes sing the National Anthem (ooh, anthem time baby!) and a brief half time display. Thanks Rachel, for the scarf. It seemed warm and the stadium was half in the sun upon arrival so shorts and a t-shirt were too much. Sun went down and it got a little chilly so the scarf-ish thing was welcome. "Bonney Field is not meant to be a permanent structure." This is the same place but with new name tags. The quote is from over 11 years ago. Out with the old, in with the new. Not entirely disappointed in going to this old setup (will most likely be the first and last time going here) and not bothered in the least that it's going away.

The Kings were winning by halftime, but our 3rd quarter set us back. It was a very exciting game though because both teams played very well. I can't say that for the referees though. I left with a slight sore throat! The crowd was great. Red Panda performed her incredible balancing act on a unicycle, tossing bowls with her foot. I've seen Red Panda many times, and it's the first time I've seen her make one drop during her performance, but she made up for it, which was a very intense moment, while having the entire crowd in suspense, and rooting for her. I don't know how she does it, and the NBA crowds absolutely loves her. I had a Chinese chicken salad from the concession for my dinner during the game. It was okay, but for $18‍ We did not leave with a win, but the Kings, including our rookie Darius Acuff showed so much potential for our future. I'm looking forward to the next game.

The Sacramento Kings franchise also has a wonderful culture in Sacramento with appreciation for their fan-base and also providing perks and fun prizes through the season. There was no social media, barely any internet, so unless someone you knew went there was no means to ever knowing about it. Not sure how I heard about it but I remember when I was 20, someone mentioned it to me so I came up here on a Saturday and my mind was totally blown. It was so much fun-I've been coming back darn near every year ever since. The State Fair has been located at Cal Expo grounds for as long as I can remember. There are plenty of parking areas available, though on weekends it still can get kind of crazy. Admission is generally around $15 and parking is about the same. Though there are special days when the admission fee and the parking are drastically lower. Also there are many merchants that sell State Fair packs which offer discounts for admission, parking and food. Let's talk about my visits this year. This year, I was drawn to the State Fair for multiple reasons but I'd say the biggest reason was the musical acts. This year I was able to catch Ja Rule and Boys To Men on different nights at the fair. Seeing these musical acts comes with the price of admission, though they do sell seats really close to the stage for an additional cost. Now coming in at a close second as far as the reason I love the fair so much, the food. There is nothing quite like the food at the fair-it's so awesome. Though not cheap and some would call it overpriced-I like to think of it as more unique and is priced as such. My favorites year to year tend to be the cinnamon rolls and the various BBQ offerings. Something I look forward to every year at the fair are the county exhibits and the various vendors selling their wares at the State Fair. I'm always coming home with something I didn't plan on buying. This year the State Fair really expanded their cannabis exhibit as it's taken over major parts of the old water park area. It's a wild scene over in Cannabis-Land. Overall these are some of the reasons I fell in love with the California State Fair when I was 20 years old and why I continue to love it just as much today 30 years later.

We went to the fair during the last weekend and met up with a couple friends. I did some research beforehand, to see what the best foods were just because I didn't want to waste money and be disappointed on food items. I'm glad I did that because most of the food items I got from the recommendations I saw online, I enjoyed. We got hot dog on a stick (classic), pickle lemonade, chicken kebab, cinnamon roll, lobster fries... now I'm going to say hot dog on a stick was the best. Maybe I'm biased, lol. But, I do have to say, I didn't eat anything that made me say I would love to get it again next year. I knocked down one star because it is expensive. Be prepared to spend lots of money! Admission price is I believe $15 per person? I can't remember. Parking was $15. Each food/drink item ranges from maybe $10-$30. If you want to ride any rides and play any games, that is additional money as well. There are also vendors inside selling stuff. So, just make sure you come prepared to spend a lot but I feel like that is expected when you go to the fair. However, my friends and I made the most of it! So, we had a great time. There are lots of indoor exhibits as well that has AC, so you can take a break from the extreme heat. If you haven't checked out the state fair, I would recommend to check it out at least once. If it isn't for you, then at least you tried!

It is located on the northern part of the campus closer to J Street. Parking is pretty easy with a very large parking garage near the facility which includes abundant EV charging. The Nest is actually on the smaller side. They recently repainted the interior which makes it a little darker and feeling a little smaller than before. Seating is basic with bleachers and retractable chairs along the side court section. The nice part of this is that all seats are really close to the action. As you enter the Nest, there is a small concession stand selling nonalcoholic drinks and snacks. Tickets are sold online, but they also sell tickets at the game. Restrooms are small and old, but the crowds are usually small so it's not an issue on the mens side. Staff are great and helpful, even for the opposing team's fans. If you are like me and root for the other team, sit behind the visitors bench for the "Away" section. Come here for a great basketball game. The games are less than two hours and action packed. Sure, you could pay more and see professionals downtown. However, the Hornets Nest is a great way to see the action up close and is cheap enough for the whole family to enjoy.
