This quaint restaurant nestled between stores and flats was walking distance from our hotel. We ended up ordering beef stroganoff which featured tender beef cubes in a rich, savory sauce and house made egg noodles and veggies. Stick-to-your-ribs goodness. We also got an order of Argentine empanadas since the menu boasted they were a house recipe. They were just the right combination of savory meat and flaky, fried dough. They were light considering and came with a crisp, fresh salad. Though neither dish were traditional Zurich fare, we enjoyed eating al fresco on the patio adjacent to a small green space behind some flats. The patio had the loveliest flowers around it, and the tempt was perfect for eating outdoors. Service was very good. Like most service we've experienced in Europe, the server is attentive until your meal is served and then you are left in peace to enjoy your meal. We would eat there again and recommend it if you are staying overnight near Zurich International Airport. The only drawback was that there were few options for gluten free diners which we've found to be relatively typical.

The "stroganoff" was so juicy with a rich flavor-packed gravy I wanted to bottle and take home with me. The cordon bleu was the best we've had on Switzerland. The wine list was great and we picked a delicious red from Italy. The salads were a bit overdressed unfortunately. Desserts were great with the homemade mint ice cream and cotton candy and various truffles and chocolates including a white chocolate filled with mango or rosemary white chocolate! The staff is very sweet and I know the chef and I love all of them! Their English is just fine so if you're traveling to the airport/Flughafen and want an upscale delicious meal, definitely stop by for lunch or dinner. There is an outdoor area with umbrellas but no view, which is a problem for a lot of restaurants in Zurich other than those in Old Town (Altstadt) or along the Limmat river or Lake Zurich. The interior is beautifully decorated with great art and linens. The kitchen is somewhat open but set apart enough to not disturb the guests having their fancy white table cloth meals. Make a reservation if possible because that's the way nice restaurants in Zurich do it, walk ins are readily turned away!

I went there of course with high expectations and ordered a salami pizza (my favorite). Disappointed I was not, but best pizza ever? - no! I had better pizza's in my life, but I do recommend the Calzone tri colore there...it's amazing! Don't bother with the big serving of Tomato & Mozzarella salad...it is way overpriced at I think 25 francs! I haven't tried the pasta at Giardino...but looking at other guests platters they seem to be smaller servings. At any given day I would rate the restaurant with 3 out of 5 stars. But the Calzone alone deserves his own star. 4/5 stars!

We arrived and were seated promptly. The ambiance was relaxed, and very welcoming. We both ordered the lamb and it was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. The staff made us feel so welcome the whole time. Honestly, it turned a regular layover into a highlight of my trip.
