What a great store. We actually found this place by accident after getting lost in Botafogo, but we…read moreare so glad we did. If you are recently moved to Rio, or if you are just looking for something for your house, they have it all. The store is good for both tourists and locals alike. As foreigners in Rio, we were ecstatic to find regular household items that were distinctly Brazilian without being overly touristy (i.e. laptop/food lap pad featuring "Classic lanche no sofá" or a cutting board displaying all the different cuts of a cow in Portuguese). That said, they have a variety of everything, so if you do want that pillow with the Brazilian flag, you're in luck. The other great part about this store was the staff. This was one of the rare instances where I didn't feel like my presence as a customer was a burden for the staff. Paula was very helpful for us, making several trips to the register to confirm prices for us and belong answer any questions we had. She was quite friendly as well. Whether you're on Botafogo or not, make a trip to this store. You're bound to walk out with something.

The store has stationery supplies to kitchen items and everything in between. We needed a few essential items for our new apartment and found some great things here. The also have some items that are uniquely Brazilian if want something that aren't too touristy. They had Cristo and Pão de Açúcar bookends, a glass cutting board with the Portuguese names of the cuts of meat (even useful if you know Portuguese), a cute espresso set (machine and cups). They also had a good selection of bath supplies (toothbrush holders, soap dispensers, tub mats) and decorative pillows. We got a lap desk (soft replaceable bottom filler) with hard light weight board with cup holder that can be used for a desk when you're working on the couch or as an eating tray. They had more unique things than just the ordinary home supply store. Apparently they're opening up a few more stores like this around Rio so check them out!

They had breakfast options, brunch and a la carte. We decided to go all out and try the brunch which is an enormous amount of food that is meant to be shared. They give you a warm bread basket of goodies (although I wasn't impressed by the croissant) with jam and butter, a plate of cheeses and meats, a plate of salmon carpaccio (but not smoked), a bowl of yogurt and granola, half a papaya, a hot drink (coffee) and orange juice, waffles with honey, eggs, pancakes! It's far too much for two people to eat even if you were very hungry. After stuffing ourselves, we decided to explore the nursery and were absolutely amazed at how big it was. There was a huge selection of orchids of so many different species. There was also an impression collection of bonsai plants, even a jabuticaba tree! There's several books on bonsai and tools for creating them (wires, clippers, etc). They have a beautiful koi pond and several big pot ponds with tiny fish and water plants. Any type of pot or vase, glass or ceramic, they have so many different types of containers to chose from; good for hotels and commercial use to home decor. Probably the best part was the handicraft section that had intriguing wood carvings. We wished we had found this place earlier because there are so many things we would have loved to buy! It's a little bit out of the way, inland from Barra but at least on a main road. Definitely worth a trip out here! There is also

It was my first time there but my relatives love that place. The breakfast was good, the coffee delicious but the first waitress was rude and horrible. Thankfully a second waitress came in that was very sweet and nice, her name was Maria. And the rude one we believe is Cris, but we are not sure. This is a place I don't need to come back for a while. I got the "breakfast for two" and it was ok. The orange juice was freshly squeezed, then we get a few slices of cheese and ham, plus mineiro cheese, butter, one type of jelly, a basket of assorted breads, yogurt and granola. I am glad at the end Maria came to the rescue because the first waitress was rude, she brought 2 coffees to half of the table and when we told her we needed to order the rest of the drinks, she said something rude. C'omon, we waited for an hour and that's how to treat us?!? Horrible service
