We were recommended this place for brunch, so we had to check the days to see when they were open…read more We were expecting a nice nursery and a maybe a cute cafe inside but weren't prepared for the beauty restaurant we found inside. They had breakfast options, brunch and a la carte. We decided to go all out and try the brunch which is an enormous amount of food that is meant to be shared. They give you a warm bread basket of goodies (although I wasn't impressed by the croissant) with jam and butter, a plate of cheeses and meats, a plate of salmon carpaccio (but not smoked), a bowl of yogurt and granola, half a papaya, a hot drink (coffee) and orange juice, waffles with honey, eggs, pancakes! It's far too much for two people to eat even if you were very hungry.
After stuffing ourselves, we decided to explore the nursery and were absolutely amazed at how big it was. There was a huge selection of orchids of so many different species. There was also an impression collection of bonsai plants, even a jabuticaba tree! There's several books on bonsai and tools for creating them (wires, clippers, etc). They have a beautiful koi pond and several big pot ponds with tiny fish and water plants.
Any type of pot or vase, glass or ceramic, they have so many different types of containers to chose from; good for hotels and commercial use to home decor.
Probably the best part was the handicraft section that had intriguing wood carvings. We wished we had found this place earlier because there are so many things we would have loved to buy!
It's a little bit out of the way, inland from Barra but at least on a main road. Definitely worth a trip out here!
