When I write a review, I do so independently without the influence of other reviews. I like to experience service first hand and find out what is best for local people. It is my opinion and I hope it is helpful.
When you walk in to Hope Spinal Wellness, you are greeted by a lovely staff member, then asked to complete some paperwork. The waiting room is clean. Then escorted into a room to meet Veronica. It all seemed cozy and friendly, but to be honest, all a bit over zealous and too American for me. I had a physical examination and got x-rays taken to help ease my back pain.
I love exercise and that is why I went for an appointment, because my training regime was being hindered.
I returned to run through my results and it was bad, so bad that I was made to feel if I didn't act now, I would become very sick. Veronica made a very strong case for my need to have chiropractic care at HSW. I was there for help and trusted her.
There was a lot of hype about a 8 Weeks to Wellness Programme and when I waited for future appointments I was able to ask other patients what they thought. They paid about £1,500+ for an 8 week fitness and health programme. I thought I would investigate this and did my math. If I paid to see a local osteopath just across the road, I was told I would need just a few visits. Add that to a few massages and going a gym with a personal trainer, it would cost about £600-700. So, why does HSW charge nearly £1,000 more have such high prices??????
Then, within a couple of days, I was hit with a big bill! It all seemed like a planned and scripted performance, not a personal consultation. The price, how many appointments I needed all sounded like another patients visit that I heard previously. To make sure I was getting the correct advice, I questioned Veronica and as soon as I did, she was very cold and lost interest quickly. It was like I discovered something. Interesting.
I did go along for a few visits, just for the experience and learned that I was not alone. One lady said she was actually scared and intimidated to question Veronica. What?
What shocked me most was over hearing a consultation with another patient. First, it wasn't very private. Secondly, the way the patient was spoken to was appalling. It was like patients were not able to ask questions and have the time to discuss their concerns. Rushed through and all felt a bit robotic really.
I had a massage with Karolina and she was loving, caring and really helpful. She was actually fantastic and a real asset to the establishment. She had time for me and I couldn't help wondering why she worked there. I did ask her why it all seemed a bit "pushy" and felt like everyone was being signed up for the 8WW programme and Karolina didn't seemed too convinced either. I did bump into another staff member but can't remember her name. I believe it was a chiropractor called Charlie. She seemed very nice and happy to please. But when I went back, we are told she left and no longer worked there. A real shame.
The front desk staff were kind, but did all sound like each other, popping out cheesy catch phrases. Scott was probably the worst for that. Boy does he put on a performance for the ladies. I thought he liked me. He was really eager for me to part with some serious money for 8WW.
All in all, not for me. I do believe they could have helped me. But I lost trust and faith when I felt like the whole clinic was more interested in what I could afford and not give me what I needed.
I have since had treatment elsewhere and within a couple of visits, I felt great. I am back exercising and have taken on a personal trainer, but at such a lower cost. So maybe I didn't need to have all the treatment that I was recommended at Hope after all.
I have given 2 stars because the place was clean and well presented, but was very confused by all the extortionate costs and upselling. read more
