(Yes, they do have a 4-seat bar, and you can have your meal there) Atmosphere was very cozy, great music playlist and not too loud. Decor is suited to the "American" theme, with old adverts on ancient brick walls. They were full, and the wait staff was very busy. Service was great, but not always available. Started with a couple glasses of wine. By the glass list is short, but the Gelber Muskateller was a very good one. Unfortunately they were out of their American Cabernet. For beer and whisky lovers, there's an extensive collection of craft beers and whisk(e)ys from around the world. Shared their avocado BLT salad and it was delicious and fresh. Bacon could have been crisper and there was a bit too much of it, but flavors, including the ranch dressing, were great. Had to ask for knives though. Another glass of wine each, and we each had the signature bacon cheeseburger, mine requested without bun and medium rare. They nailed it!! A real treat, as most Austrian restaurants over cook burgers. The side of truffle parmesan fries was very tasty and properly cooked, though the fries were mostly short and not conducive to dipping. All food was warm, fresh, properly cooked, and delicious! Finished with a couple of fine single malt scotches. Prices were reasonable (4 wine, 1 salad, 2 entree, 1 side, 3 scotch), and we got out of here for €79 before tip. (Tips are minimal in Austria... €85 total) We'll have to try their dry aged steaks next time!

I sat outside, which was nice when the cigarette smoke wasn't blowing my way. I had a large beer and the "Entenbrust auf Pfefferrahmsauce" (which turned out to be a duck breast in a nice sauce with large tater tots and vegetables). Food was decent, though the duck was quite tough to cut with a butter knife and the vegetables had clearly been frozen previously. Still, not bad for ~11.5 euros overall (~13 USD). Biggest issue was that I did not have cash, and I had to walk to an ATM around 10-15 minutes away to pull out cash and pay for my meal. Overall, experience was "A-OK", but not what I had expected seeing other Yelp reviews.

We like eating at the bar but unfortunately, the restaurant offers only table service. And this is just not what you do in Austria....There are, however, a few tall tables near the entrance with our names on them. The staff was very accommodating and helped us settle into our fantastic tables ideal for people watching. We came early on this frigid evening in late December and the restaurant quickly filled up. The wine list was promptly presented and a short presentation about the steaks and the cuts followed. We selected a Malbec from the list; it was fantastic! A bread basket followed shortly after that, along with really great olive oil and sea salts. My wife chose a pincho and I went the safe route and selected a sirloin cut. The meat was expertly prepared and cooked to perfection. The key to El Gaucho is the quality of the meat served here. It's extremely fresh and of very high quality. The cuts can be chosen in three different weights (in grams), all of which are appropriately sized. I hate huge chunks of meat; I prefer it in small quantities but of superior quality and that's precisely what El Gaucho presents. The dessert selections were fantastic as well. They are not an afterthought here. At this point I can't remember what we selected but I remember it was really tasty. There was chocolate involved. As busy as the restaurant was, the service was solid. The staff is efficient; the waiters can be stern but in a good way. Let them steer you in the right direction. A fantastic experience!

Then I had the surf and turf which is a few prawns + a tenderloin steak. The steak was overcooked and it tasted really grainy... Like it had freezer burn. My coworker ordered the same thing and the meal cost about 70 euros. Way too expensive.

After my friend was refused drinks and he then left this bar not ever to return, the owner of the bar replied, "Let him go!" This is an unfortunate event that should never have happened and disgusts me to think would be happening still in this country in the gay community now, in 2018!!! Thus, so that everyone is clear and aware, racism is alive and well in the small and strange world of the homosexuals in Graz, Austria.
