All I wanted was the quoted $30 pre-assessment for my one year old teacup yorkie, Evie so I could…read morehave her spayed. Was billed $49 for the appointment and ultimately charged $130 after adding the other bs I didn't actually need (but was bullied into getting). The vet was rude and talked down to me the whole time like I was an irresponsible idiot. She also talked so fast I couldn't ask questions. About midway through the assessment the vet casually mentioned that she heard a heart murmur and that it could be heartworms and that we should treat for them just in case. She gave us a free first dose of heartworm treatment and flea and tick treatment (Evie has never had fleas OR ticks)... then put a $420 heartworm treatment plan on our next appt quote. I didn't realize it was potentially a scam until later in the evening once I'd calmed down and had a clear head. [Note: I will be getting a second opinion for her supposed heart murmur.] They also insisted on giving her two vaccinations that she wasn't due for. The rabies was due in less than a week so I was okay with that one, but the DAPPV shot wasn't due for MONTHS so the vet's "I'm legally obligated" was a complete and total lie. Do your own research, but I don't even think DAPPV is required by Texas law. Yes, it's best to have it, but she shouldn't have forced us to get it, especially not months early. After I gave up and figured updated vaccines couldn't hurt, the tech took Evie to the back to vaccinate her and test for heartworms. She brought her back with her leg literally soaked in blood from elbow to ankle. I was shocked and pointed it out and the tech apologized profusely and took her to get cleaned up but OMG. My poor baby. That same tech had asked me about Evie's parent earlier in the appt. I told her that the parents are full bred yorkie which she recited back as "supposedly full bred yorkie". Like... no... they're my friend's dogs and they're AKC registered. Why would you assume they're not what I said they are? Just an all around terrible experience and I advise you to steer WAY clear of this place. *** I attached pictures of Evie for visibility.

Absolute nightmare of an experience for our injured cat. We took in a feral male cat about two…read moreweeks ago ages 6-9 months old and noticed his back right foot was smashed and bloodied due to an injury that was diagnosed as a circulation strangulation on his foot which cut off all blood flow and essentially killed his movement in that foot since our first appointment on 02-24-2025. We were told his foot would be able to be rehabbed and saved by following an extensive cleansing and care routine each night with medicines and materials that they merely suggested and did not provide at all. They failed to send us home with all the medication they stated he needed to rehab including bone growth and flea medication during his recovery. His foot was essentially developing a rotting sore that overcame his entire leg and is now severely infected and causing intense pain for our cat. I had a follow up appointment on 02-28-2025 and the doctors saw every what we did and advised STILL at that point that the leg could be rehabbed and eventually be used again. They wrapped his leg and put tape on his flesh then sent us home to remove and re wrap the leg after we cleaned it but we could not due to them using tape that could not come off from his skin without ripping his flesh which they had to do when we took him back for a THIRD time on 03-01-2025. When the emergency doctor on call that weekend saw his leg at that point she immediately suggested amputation because of the severity of our cats leg to that point but would not classify it as an emergency situation to perform the amputation that day and denied us services until Monday since it was deemed a non medical emergency. The staff was extremely friendly except for the receptionist and weekend doctor. I would highly advise to always get a second opinion when visiting this clinic and would strictly resort to only using them as a last ditch emergency option. They care more about how much they charge versus what can be done for your animal and it was all to prevalent with the handling of care for our pet. I am extremely disappointed with the moral Principles of this vet clinic and would never recommend them as anyone's last option for care for your fur baby unless they were the last clinic on earth. Below is a photo of the condition our cat has been suffering in due to the incompetence of this clinic. *graphic warning*

I do feel like they falling behind what they used to do they they're not as good as I used to be. I do not know why that it's happened. I hope it gets worked out because this is a place I would trust with any pet but right now, I would not trust it with a damn rat .

Wow... I honestly wish this place was ran by different people to be honest. We got our puppy here a…read morecouple months ago from here flea infested and had tics, over 50 fleas... Let's get started with Concho Paws and their staff, more importantly, their manager. Not gonna name any names but I will say, she is by far the worst possible person to run this place, the attitude and rudeness from this lady is honestly kinda outlandish. The conversations I've had with this lady has been nothing but disrespectful and rude, giving short answers and avoiding questions that I legitimately had for our puppy. Now onto the rest of their staff. There is two different buildings for Concho Paws, one where they keep all the older doggies at that are in the rows, and the other where they keep all of the puppies and really cute doggies to make sure they get picked up right away because, oh also, you HAVE to go to the other building if you really want to look at any other puppies because they keep them in the very back and have to have authorization to look at them. The staff that are at the actual animal shelter are beyond sweet an amazing, but honestly it doesn't really mean anything. Unfortunately, we did have to rehome our puppy due to us being too busy and our puppy having serious separation anxiety issues, hence being to Concho Valley Paws separating her and her mother right when they came into the shelter together at 9 weeks old, make that make sense. When we were trying to find places to rehome her we couldn't find anywhere in the area and the last thing that I wanted to do was bring her to this horrible place. My wife ended up calling them anyways, one of the girls that has always had attitude with us answered the phone and gave my wife nothing but horrible answers and rudeness, and she also said, "If you bring her back here we're gonna euthanize her" interesting that you really would put down a 16 week old puppy that could go to a much better home but they wouldn't even attempt. Overall, I think adopting from this place is fine, it is an animal shelter and every dog deserves to be in an amazing home, but all this place really cares about is money and making sure they can get by by making euthanizing lists. If you really want to adopt an animal, where you aren't going to have issues with paperwork, or getting their shot, or literally anything at all, go to Abilene which is about an hour away. As well as their website still states that they are a NON-euthanizing shelter, yeah that bs too. Hope this helps all the people that are animal lovers and wants better for this shelter.
