They currently have a meal deal on some nights of the week where you get several courses for £10 each, which is far too much food! I went for this with a friend one evening and had to take quite a lot of it home as there was so much of it. Highly recommended. Occasionally they will have some live entertainment, a couple of months back they had an Elvis impersonator on here. They also do a delivery or phone and collect service, if you collect your order they will knock 10% off the price of your bill. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

I believe its family run, and, the guy whom I can only assume is the Dad, always takes time to banter with my parents in Hindi no less, which they appreciate, and find amusing. The food is good, a decent (yeah i know thats a stupid adjective) indo-chinese mix and a high amount of variety for the Veggies in the group (ie pretty much everyone!). Its also not too expensive (cant give you an amount cos my father-in-law paid - wooh!!), and you cant go wrong with reasonably priced beers :) The service is bare quick (yep, I said 'bare', but its East London so Im allowed), and this place is always quite busy, so bookings for large groups may be a good idea. The deep-fried food was a bit too deep fried/greasy for me so I stayed away from some of the aubergine stuff my wife talks about in her review. Would I come back? Already have :)

The smoked shredded chicken is sweet instead of spicy (not what I'm used too) and the satay sauce tasted like curry (it was very smooth with no crunch - again, not what I'm used too). We shared main courses and again I could hardly eat it. There was no flavour to anything and the rice was so overcooked. The service is a bit hit or miss, and I didn't find anyone but the owner friendly. And the tables are so close together, forget having a private conversation. To be honest it baffles me that so many people eat here. Although my friend loves it, so it may just be my taste buds! The highlight of my evening? The apple fritters. Whilst I could only manage one plate of food, my boyfriend returned to top his plate up around 3 or 4 times and nobody complained. The price of the food is reasonable but the drinks are a bit expensive. I think you're paying for the choice more than anything but the price is clear when you enter the restaurant so you are not surprised when you sit down. Staff are happy and willing to let you stay as long as you feel like. I have never felt pressured to leave as you do in some restaurants. I will be returning to Aroma and taking the family!!
