Chris from Main Street was quick to respond and we set up an on-site consult for later in the week. I knew which windows (4 of them) I wanted replaced since an Anderson Renewal guy had come out separately to inspect & provide a quote. Chris from Main Street was extremely kind, helpful, and upfront. I chose them ultimately because of this pleasant meeting, urgency for the replacement, and fair price. He was my only point of contact the whole job which was nice and he was on top of communicating things throughout the whole process. We also have siding being replaced so he communicated with my other contractor to coordinate timing. Pricing was very reasonable compared to Renewal but more expensive than a DIY vinyl install because of the window quality. I wanted a window that would last and was willing to pay more. The Anderson 100 series installed was literally half the cost of what Renewal had quoted me (I believe they quoted the 300 series) but are very high quality windows regardless and we really like them. There are some minor aesthetic defects from the manufacturing of the windows (pictured here) but they can be trimmed off very easily and aren't a concern. The installer Dre came in with Dan as support and they did a beautiful job. I had plenty of notice beforehand and they finished the job exactly as estimated (about 6 hours) after cleaning up very nicely. All in all, I thought Main Street Windows had a competitive price, I appreciated their recommendation for the product, they did a great job communicating, and the windows look great.

Gus from Big Rapids Roofing came out and gave a much better price than other bids I got, plus his company uses the brand shingle and holds the certification I wanted. I was delayed until into December from starting by my chimney build, but as soon as my chimney was finished Big Rapids Roofing was able to start. They had to blow snow off the roof in order to work. Their crew did an excellent job, worked from daybreak on into dark. Their clean up was pristine. Because of the winter weather, their equipment left some tracks in the yard, and they made every effort to remedy this by sending a guy with several bags of dirt and grass seed to repair the yard. I didn't press for this, they did it because they were responsible.

Our family had our Garage Door replaces approximately 5 years ago. Right at the 5 year mark our…read moregarage ceased to work. It began to bend and bow, becoming unusable. Once this happened we contacted Dover and Company and they did not respond to us at all. It was at this point that we started a complaint with the BBB. We then reached back out to the company and they were willing to talk to us at that point. The owner stated that he would be willing to replace the garage door at cost. We indicated that moving forward with that option was not the company taking any responsibility they stated that they would be willing to replace the springs exchanging them with their heavier springs at their expense. We agreed to that and moved forward with getting them replaced. When the technicians from Dover come to our home they did not have the heavier and springs they tried to replace the existing springs with the same weight of springs that we had originally. The technician mentioned it and when we brought up the issue he had to contact his company to get the go ahead to replace the springs. Once that took place, the door was still not able to close. The Technician left at that point. We still did get a bill for this replacement!!! That is a large issue. Not only was it almost impossible to obtain meaningful assistance and a willingness to accept some accountability from Dover and Company but the replacement work was not what we were promised and then we received a bill when it was not warranted nor was the job completed. Dover and Company has proven to be not only dishonest but also does not stand behind their work.

Do NOT use this company, especially if you plan on using a renovation loan or are buying a house…read morewith a FHA loan!!! Working with this company was a nightmare to begin with. When we initially called the company, we explained that we would be using a renovation loan to fund the project and went into detail how said loan worked with payment. We were assured that it was ok, thus we scheduled an estimate. We had a limited amount of days to get the quote in to our lender, and was upfront about that. We were told by the estimator that we would have the quote either later that day or the next. We ended up having to hound the company for the quote and it took a week to receive, thus delaying our close. It was like pulling teeth receiving information from this company. The worst part was when it came time for us to receive the clear to close. Our bank sent Michigan Screen & Window Repair the agreement, and on the third business day they still hadn't sent the agreement back. With renovation loans, you need a signed agreement in order to receive the funds for the project. After many calls, we learned that they REFUSED to sign the agreement because they needed the deposit first. Why it took 3 business days to tell us this is beyond us. We then said we could write a personal check so that we could get the agreement signed. Once the bank cuts them the check, they could just reimburse us. They said NO and would only return the deposit check to the bank. At this point we had our mortgage officer call them to try to explain better and they wouldn't budge. They even told our mortgage officer that they would have to send the agreement to their attorney first to review "and this would add time and money to our quote". Our bank has never had this issue with any contractor before, and we do not have these issues with our other two separate contracting projects. The phone call ended with Michele (their office manager) telling us that we would be best going with a different company. We were supposed to get the clear to close on our house today, and instead we are scrambling to find a whole new contractor. What this company has done is completely unforgivable and unprofessional and WILL be reported to the BBB for how they handle business. It should have been communicated to us from the beginning that they cannot accommodate renovation loans and time frames, especially since that was the premise of our first conversation with them. Do NOT use this company for your screen or window needs. You will regret it.

I have to take a few deep breaths before writing this review…read more We had Alexandria Windows come out to replace a few windows two summers ago. The communication and scheduling was lacking, so we were a little frustrated, but it didn't prepare us for the ordeal we were going to be dealing with. We live in an old house, 1920's. My husband expressed this many times, that appropriate measures would have to be taken as we had lead in our old windows and trim. I heard him over the phone as well as in person and he was assured they would take the steps necessary. The day the windows were to be replaced, my kids and I left the house. Two windows were in our daughters room, the other in our guest bedroom. One window was oriented the wrong way and still installed. The worst part was, after removing the old windows, the workers took leaf blowers out to blow debris out into the yard below and all over the rooms. My husband ran upstairs and yelled at them to stop, that once again, there was lead paint involved. They stopped and cleaned up, but not well enough. My husband wiped everything down afterwards, not trusting it was cleaned properly. A few months later, my daughter received test results showing elevated levels of lead in her blood. It was quick and not a single other person in our family had any detectable levels. I was livid. I'm still livid. I don't care that one of our windows is wrong or that it took forever to arrange communication. I'm livid that lead safe practices weren't followed as promised and my child had to pay for it. You can't put a price on that. Thankfully, she's grown, and the situation is under control now, but if you have an old house, I would absolutely not recommend this company. To the owner, if your business gives homeowners your word that things will be done safely and following safe standards, you need to follow through. Safety should be top priority. This could have had a very poor outcome.
