I needed a haircut BAD! Usually I'll go to the Des Plaines Lady Jane's where Amanda does a great job of cutting my hair. But I was way down in Willowbrook with time to kill. I checked Yelp to see if there were other similar style hair cutting places in the area. Reading the reviews I came across someone mentioning HoneyCuts. I was only about 2 miles away. As soon as I came walking in Maggie came walking out of the back, greeted me and I sat down. She told me about the standard services, but I opted for a quick hair cut (no shampoo or scalp massage). The way she handled the scissors and razor I could tell this girl knew her stuff. I've received countless haircuts from expensive stylists and once at a chop shop called Great Clips (what a misnomer). Maggie gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever had. I have had a good haircut here and an absolute terrible haircut here with a cold head massage. I was the last haircut of her day. She wasn't really that friendly and she made my hair look like I'm balding in front. I'd give a zero if I could. I took my son there for a hair cut and he came out looking like Lloyd Christmas. Huge chunks of hair left uncut around the ears. Totally uneven in the back. The only place where it is even is the front - straight across the front, like Lloyd. There are no excuses because he sat totally still in the "tractor" (it's a lawn mower), and did everything she asked. This was a free hair cut we got in the mail as a new resident. I tried to give an average rating here since there some of the folks here who are awesome and others who are just plain bad. Stick with you regulars like Maggie, Lydia (please come back) etc.. and for the love of God walk away from the others, otherwise you just end up spending a depressing few days looking at yourself in the mirror admiring the bad haircut you just got. The hard part is keeping up with schedules of you favorites since you can never go in whenever you need to. Like the time I had a client meeting the next day downtown and wanted to look a bit extra sharp..I went in .. and tried some one new since I thought no biggie since its just a clean up kind of thing. Explained what I wanted to to the person assigned to me .. she looked as if she understood ( kind a like I know my job) and then used the trimmer and "butchered" my hair. I honestly wish some of these folks here get the same treatment when they go in for their haircut, they would know what their customers go through. My haircut was so bad that I was almost in tears... I re-scheduled my meeting till i looked like I had some hair at least. (tip : please look for expressions on your clients face to know if you think you did a good job or not.. you should get a hint.) If you feel like trying some one new here, just do it yourself ...pick a number on your trimmer and go for it by yourself saving you 20 bucks! . read more

I was on my way to a meeting at NBC and I received so many compliments on my haircut just trusting Heather to cut my hair based on the direction my hair wanted to go. The hair stylists there are awesome. I get a good haircut and I also get the special gray blend which colors my gray hair to a darker color without being too obvious. It makes me look younger. Was skipped for a regular after a 30min wait. Told 10more min. Left to go elsewhere after 20. And this was on a slow night. Not going back.

Finally a place to go where the women cutting your hair actually seem trained and not in a huge hurry to rush to the next customer. I have been going there since it opened after being sick of doing the round robin of horrible cuts at Sports Clips, Great Clips, etc etc. There has been some turnover and a stylist or two may not have been as good as the others, but it is always better than the local competition. They also do a great job on my son's hair. He is extremely picky about his hair cuts and they always take their time and check often to see if they are going too short. He is always happy when he leaves. He usually ran out of Sport Clips wishing he never went in after a cut because he didn't fit the mold of "what number do you want...buzz buzz, ok leave now". Also, while it does cost more, the shampoo and relaxing head massage are included. If you "opt in" for that at Sports Clips, you get jammed in the back with some electric massager out of a 1950's female coming of age movie. No thanks. You can't go wrong with visiting HoneyCuts in Willowbrook. read more

Just had my haircut again and all of these girls do a fantastic job cutting my hair and the wash and head massage is a Huge bonus.

Oh well, this place turns out to be no different than any other place that is only interested in getting you in and out to turn over the chair as fast as possible. Today I had an awful experience. In Lisa's absence I had been going to Maggie to get my cut. As I said in my first review, I'm no easy cut. However, Maggie seemed to get it and each time I went she'd give me a cut and I was fine. Today she was there with another employee and each was sitting talking as no customers were present. I signed in as usual and with nobody else on this list, and Maggie knowing how to cut my particular style I moved toward her chair. But wait, out of nowhere Maggie says "I'm not cutting it, she is" (referring to the other employee). I'm like what?!?! I say to myself "but you know how to cut my style, this employee doesn't know me". Why are you telling me to go to her? Needless to say I had to explain all over again how I want my cut. Can you guess if this employee did it right? Yep, screwed up! Why didn't Maggie just give me the cut. I thought after 7 months of going there I wouldn't be treated like that. Not going back, ever! I need to find a barber that learns my cut and then continues the cut each time I come and who doesn't pawn me off to someone less experienced. Don't we all want that? read more

Really like this place. They are concerned about their clients and getting it right. I had a stylist for a while and then she left to go back to school. I thought about leaving but then Lynn came to the rescue. She is great and well maybe a bit fun? Or funny? Lol. Honestly she does a great job. I waited to see my regular beautician before writing this. I brought my 3 year old son in a few weeks back. His hair was butchered. The only way to fix it was to shave it. I could completely understand if he was squirmy or uncooperative but he understands to sit perfectly still and did. My dad has gone here 3 times, only once was he happy with the result. He took the girls name and the next time he came back she was gone. I'm not going back here and I don't recommend them. The girls were super sweet but their skills are lacking. read more

Really hit or miss. They give a senior rate and a $10 special on Wednesday. Turnover is pretty high. Liked Maggie - she left...liked Jennifer - she left. Have had very good and very crummy haircuts, although the good seem to out number the bad. They do not take reservations,which think they should. I have been to this location for my last three haircuts and I have now become a lifer. The store is well cleaned and the staff are friendly and courteous. Maggie is the best, she has been the only one there that has cut my hair and she does an amazing job, I ask for her by name. The store has never been that crowded when I have come in on Saturdays, I think the longest wait time I've ever had there was like 15 minutes. You can't go wrong with this place, sports clips and the others don't stack up to this HoneyCuts. read more

Luv this place. Well managed & professional. I don't feel like I'm in "Kiddieland" like some of the other places. Lynn is one of the best stylists I've ever had who also razors my hair for texture. I get more compliments on my haircuts than I ever have in the past. I believe lynn is also the new manager as well. So in my opinion you can't go wrong with any of the girls here. read more

I have been here about 5 times in the past , and had either Abbey, or Amanda. Never had any issues. Today I stopped in, and both were busy so I opted for the new girl... (Leighann) From the start it was awful. Her station was gross with hairs all over from previous customers. She dusted her clippers off in front of me with the dust flying out right in front of me. I asked if she would mind sanitizing them before using them... She made me feel like I was an idiot for asking. The entire time I was forced to hold my breath due to the smell of menthol cigarettes permeating from her hands, and breath. I declined the offer of a shampoo after being cut. I find out after paying that the cost is the same as if I had gotten the "extra" shampoo. What an incredibly nauseating experience it was to sit through one of the longest haircuts of my life. As I type this review at work 2 hours later I can still smell the disgusting menthol on my sweatshirt. I am totally disgusted, and will not be returning to this location.... read more
