For an awful minute, I thought I wasn't going to be allowed inside this shop. I tried the door but…read moreit wouldn't open, then realised that I had to actually ring a bell to gain entry. I am not sure if this is so they can scrutinise your attire before they deem you acceptable to enter ((thank God I was wearing a lovely vintage leather midi-skirt), but I did find it very off-putting. And, to be honest, totally unnecessary. C'mon folks, it's a suburban Brisbane boutique, not Karl Lagerfeld's headquarters! Once inside the luxe environs (and yes, it is beautiful - and you can tell that they did base the opulent decore on the old-style French couture salons) I was told by the slightly superior shop assistant that you can find everything to dress you from the inside out. There's lingerie, high end hosiery, jewellery (I spied pieces by Ericson Beamon - I'm not sure anywhere else in Brisbane stocks that), bags, and of course an achingly expensive range of Little Black Dresses. When I was there they'd just received some newbies by Valentino). They only stock European designers - although one Aussie label did make the cut (Aurelio Costarella). Needless to say, the prices are not for the faint hearted. Nor for the really young and funky. Whilst the collections are carefully chosen and there are some beautiful pieces, I can imagine it would mainly appeal to the ladies-who-lunch set and the older members of Paddington's "society" crowd. I've given it 3 stars purely because of the quality of the clothes - if you're after a little slice of European chic, you'll get it here. But if I were you, I wouldn't turn up in flip flops and denim shorts...

The garments range in brands with both local and international at your feet, and whilst they are a tad pricey, they are pretty good quality. I bought my maternity bra's there when I was pregnant with my first and the ladies were very friendly and helpful. They are all trained fiitters as well, bonus! Never have to get fitted again. Not many people know this, but they have been around for over 20 years and have a Rockhampton store as well. They have nice change rooms and lingerie shop mood lighting? Is that even a term... anyway, they are legit, knowledgeable and you can even shop online and get free delivery. The ladies at this store take great care fitting you to the right size so you're not left embarassed about your body or awkward in the mirror while someone feels you up. Very professional indeed! So take them off ladies, and get comfortable! Fellas, this is also a great place to buy some super sexy lingerie for your ladies. Zing!

They have the usual RRPs for the top brands but I was able to get really great, friendly service which is often hard to come by in the department stores. Dirty town! Well, not dirty. In comparison to most adult stores it was quite tame with simply a nook rather than entire store dedicated to toys, potions and accessories. With things like sensual cook books, edible body oils and an array of devices to spice up your love life, this store could have the answer to many a dull relationships problems! The underwear in store is beautiful, but seriously overpriced at around $120 for a bra and $75 for most of the matching underwear. It's the kind of underwear that is bought by someone for you, not the other way around. If you are in need of a bit of kick in your bedroom, and don't want to look too seedy walking out of a dodgy adult store, I recommend Honey Birdette for all of your sensual needs.

Absolutely ridiculous to not be able to exchange size because it was "On sale" I'm sorry but it was still $80, $80 on a bra I am not able to wear and not able to return. A complete waste of money. A terrible experience with customer service, this was my first purchase and I will not be shopping with you again. Very happy to continue giving my money to your competitors.

This would have to be one of the most beautifully preserved arcades in Brisbane. With it's olden…read moreday atmosphere, you'd expect the shopping there to be a little but classier, a cut above the rif-raf out on Queen Street, but I find it a bit pretentious, particularly the upper gallery. Looking in jewelery stores up there recently, I felt very alienated by icy shopkeepers. Also, there's quite a few empty stores up there which makes me think businesses might struggle up there. Down the bottom is more lively, with a lovely tea shop, selling a large range of tea pots; jewelery stores; and bridal shops. With the exception of the cheap and nasty accessory store, Colette, at the Queen Street entrance of the arcade, the shops in here require you to have money to spend (or at least pretend you have money to spend). Best not to rock up in your Havianas--it won't help things with the already snooty shop keepers.

Its the sort of place most people probably go to look and admire rather than shop but in saying that it is home to some of Brisbane's most awarded retailers especially if you are after jewelery or bridal wear. If you are looking for a unique gift or something for the person who has everything this place is your treasure trove. I particularly love looking at all the beautiful time pieces in the Vintage watch shop and pens right next door.

Think of this as your guilty pleasure. Your guilty sleepwear pleasure, no one needs to know how…read moremuch it cost you. No one. I first saw the funny looking dog wearing pj's and a santa hat in the store window of Peter Alexander and it was pink inside. So naturally I thought, how pretty, I must walk inside and see what this dog is telling me. I went inside and saw such cutesy wootsey pajamas I went a bit crazy and picked a few boxers, a few long pants, sweats, ugg boots even... all things good for sleeping. Then I checked out how much the clothes were and proceeded to kindly put them back in their rightful shop places. I ended up buying a onesie for my son (yes pj's that were $59.95). The next time I got paid, I ran back in there and got a matching set for me. The material is so soft! By far the most comfortable clothes I have ever slept in... cost me $79.95 but hey... I am NOT telling ANYONE I paid that price... unless they have the same guilty pleasure as me. They also sell onesie bodysuits for guys... I would have loved to buy one for my husband but 1) they ran out of his size because apparently there are many men running around wearing a onesie bodysuit and 2) it was $159.95... I can't justify that, there is a chance he might never wear it as well. That is one really expensive price for me having a good laugh, so I said to the nice lady 'no, I won't pre-order one for when they next come in'. So this place also sells a helluva lot of accessories from your soaps to your undies to your teddy bears to anything you use in the vicinity of your bedroom and bathroom. Everything is nice, everything is pretty, everything is pretty highly priced... but I guess with pj's as soft as these and a name like a fashion designer Peter Alexander, you can't really charge anything less.

Yes, I know they are a little bit of an indulgence but you will thank me as soon as that soft material cuddles you to sleep at night. Peter Alexander pajamas make great gifts. When you can't think of what to get your brother, son, husband or boyfriend, I recommend a pair of PJ's, or at least the pants. They have funky boxers too with interesting patterns that are constantly updated. Their ladies PJ's range from sexy slips to full PJ sets. They also have a range of other gifts available from chocolates to funny books. I urge you to a least walk into this store.
