I am beyond grateful and lucky to have found such a talented and kind individual that has such a touch and passion for hair and makeup. I don't think I could run out of lovely things to say about Ms. Scarlet Adams.
My engagement party was themed USO (1940s wartime) and I wished for a looked that would reminiscent of the actresses that I would see in all the movies I adore (I am obsessed with TCM). I Wanted feel like a Veronica Lake, or a gene Tierney, or if I dare say, a Rita Hayworth. All the previous attempts to achieve this goal look for other occasions was always in the "it's okay" outcome - so my expectation for my engagement party was pretty dreaded. I casually looked for a hairstylist and makeup artist with a sense of forced conformity, thinking I should just make my look simple instead of being disappointed once more.
One day, I was looking through IG and a vintage lifestyle IGer in another country posted about her makeup and hair artist. I thought how could it be possible that Miami, the city of excess, does not have a vintage beauty artist. I gave it a Yelp gander and instantly found Scarlet Adams! Without thinking, I contacted her and booked an appointment before I had even bought a single decoration. Pure excitement!
Since the first email and phone call, Ms. Adam's was kind, patient and attentive to my wants and needs. She conformed to meet my schedule and addressed any thoughts or concerns I may have had.
I will admit, due to all the previous disappointments, I was nervous about the outcome. But the day of the party arrived and once I was warmly welcomed into Ms. Adam's studio space, all of my nerves and fears quickly disappeared. She asked me detailed questions about what I envisioned to ensure she had an understanding. She was even very honest and forthcoming in voicing her concern if I would actually like victory rolls since most people don't know that it's a very different hairdo - I stated I was excited for them and prepared, so away we went so she could begin her magic.
While listening to Glenn Miller and chatting about how dreamy Elvis was, I didn't feel as if I was getting beautified by a stranger but as if I was catching up with an old friend. That detail of comfort is something that is very difficult to find in a beauty artist - nothing about sitting in her chair made me feel uncomfortable or rushed.
As she was pinning my hair, i never felt one pin scrape against my scalp and my completed updo felt so light (I couldn't believe it!). The makeup applied did not feel Cakey or heavy in any way. All my concerned area were addressed and beautifully handled.
My whole completed look was far far better than anything I could of imagined. My hope for looking like a USO babe was actually a reality. She understood that I wished to look like I could be transported into a different decade and that's what she delivered. I received compliment upon compliment on my perfect hair and awesome makeup. I truly can't wait till I receive all my pictures from the event :)
I am truly thankful that fate stepped in and lead me to Scarlett Adams. I am a longtime client from here on out! Such beautiful work from such a wonderful hearted person.
