It was a very upsetting time for us just like it would be for any pet owner having to put their loved one down. I would highly recommend Northwood Vet Service to anyone and definitely will be frequently visiting them in the near future if we ever decide to get another fur baby.

We hiked two miles back to the car with him squinting and his eye watering. No, I did not have to carry him and he eagerly scampered along the trail despite the eyeball issue. Whew! Thank goodness we had cell service at the car and lucked out finding the Northwood Vet Service. I called them at 11:40am on a Saturday and the friendly receptionist encouraged us to come in at noon and provided directions (and note, they closed at noon so they were being especially nice). The clinic was clean and staff were all equally friendly in person. Dr. Emily promptly saw us and was able to tell Leo had a bit of a scratch on his eye. She flushed it out and gave us an antibiotic ointment and we were good to go! The prices were quite reasonable as well: Office visit ($25), eye flush/stain ($10) and the ointment ($12.50). It was so appreciated how they didn't hesitate to stay late to accommodate us and how they were friendly and efficient upon our arrival. Leo's eye looks 100 times better today. All in all, a great experience!

Long behold the next day he was straining to urinate again :( Best Friends posted a picture on Facebook of my cat without my given consent and then blocked me when I confronted them to take it down. It's still up on thier page. I didn't sign any paper saying they could post a picture of Mr. Tatertot :( -I've left a photo they posted down below. It's captioned: My bladder hurts. I wasted my time and money (a little over $500) for this vet clinic to not resolve the issue, but only to watch it get worse. He initially started with crystals but graduated to blood clots too. The food Best friends prescibed isn't a prescription food, for my trusted vet said it could still have the potential to cause crystals. Will be sticking strictly to Hillcrest despite it being a drive and should've gone to them in the first place. As of this review: he is now at a different vet, totally blocked up with a catheter and ivs... This should have been done in the first place. Instead of him being sent home. Hillcrest is a more reasonable place with vets that KNOW what they're doing and for a lower price if you're willing to make the drive. I've heard other places like Blair and Onalaska have better vet clinics too.

She felt that amputation of the left leg and shoulder could give him good quality of life and also a few more good years. Although I pride myself on being knowledgeable re. many rabbit medical issues I had never dealt with amputation before. I was concerned not only about mobility and pain issues but the effect of such a "big" surgery on a sensitive rabbit. I balked at the surgery but Dr. Maloney's quiet confident demeanor allowed me to place my trust in her. On March 19th 2025 Dylan had the surgery. What happened next is still unbelievable to me. Dylan was eating hay right after the surgery , needed extra pain meds for only about 1days post surgery , was active and mobile almost immediately. In other words he recovered right away. From my discussion with other rabbit owners on The Facebook group "Tripod Bunnies'" this was an amazing recovery. Dr Maloney told me in post op appt. that she is using her own new anesthesia technique with rabbit surgery by intubating the rabbit. She also uses lot of pain meds that first day. I can tell that Dr. Maloney doesn't just plod through a routine like many but is using an inquiring creative mind and brilliant surgical skills to better the outcome for our pets and us. Is someone sends you to UWL vet school, check with Winona Vet first. You may not have to drive hundreds of miles and pay exorbitant fees after all. Thank you , thank you thank you!
