Yesterday, I spent most of the day hanging out with my best friend in Oshawa. We started off…read moreshopping at a couple of box stores. After we were done, we saw this Hart store. "Have you heard of Hart? One just opened in Peterborough," my friend asked. "Nope, it's new to me." She has yet to visit her local one. We both walked over to this store to check it out. There is lots of parking in this plaza of box stores. We had a whopping eighteen minutes before the store closed at 5 pm on a Saturday. I did something similar at a Michaels in Winnipeg earlier this month. The difference was that this store has staff that weren't dying to go home. Hart is a mid-sized department store that was founded in 1960 by Harry Hart, in Rosemère, Quebec. I like that it has endured for several decades. It has stores in Quebec and New Brunswick. It is now establishing stores in Ontario. This store had home decor, furniture, curtains and blinds, home accessories, electronics, and more at reduced prices. All sales are final. We saw 35% off all barbeques that looked like alien spaceships. I learned that Claritin makes pillows! If you buy one, you get another at 50% off. We saw 50% off 1500-thread count Egyptian cotton sheet sets. Cool! I liked the llama and hedgehog doorstoppers. They were cute and had a nice weight to them. A female staffer, who ultimately cashed me out, approached us politely and let us know that we had ten minutes left before the store was closing. We thanked her and slowly made our way to the checkout area. I appreciated her way to signalling that the store was closing. At the Michaels in Winnipeg, yelling out a countdown to closing was the chosen method in contrast. I saw a neck fan. I've always wanted one that you charge with a USB cable. I got it. I approached the checkout. The nice woman let me know that this sale was final. I got this neck fan at 25% off. Nice! I paid with a credit card. Done! She gave me a receipt and wished me a great evening. We reciprocated. Here's the best part of my shopping experience. There were two other staffers behind us. They both wished us a good evening. Hey, staffers at Michaels in Winnipeg? You need a course on customer service and closing from these folks at Hart. The neck fan was charged when I opened up the box. I love it! It has three speeds and is pretty quiet. It's a USB C cable that charges it. So far, it works nicely. It adjusts to my neck well, is comfortable, and has left and right labels, so you can't mess up using it. I had a great time here. I may need to head back to get a mosquito repellent device and carry it with me at all times this summer. (278)
