Yesterday, I had an appointment with Drew, who eloquently and accurately described his work as…read more"Energetic, Deep Tissue Massage". I've experienced a number of varyingly wonderful massages/body work sessions, but Drew's felt like what I've always hoped I would experience. Someone who's life and love of body work merges with their psychological and spiritual presence as well. Drew approaches the work very holistically, cultivating a calming atmosphere of relaxation, rest, and healing, and then guides the time like a full body meditation. His intuitiveness and sensitivity to the energies moving through my muscles, ligaments, and joints required barely a word of communication or direction from me. The work he's done has lasted well into the next day and my days have been much better for it. The location of Written On The Body Massage Studio is on a busy street, which was initially a deterrent for me personally, but the moment I walked through the door, the outside noise faded, the aroma stimulated my attention, and the environment engaged me as if we were far away from the busyness and distraction of the city. Then, walking back outside after my session, I felt grounded, centered, and more peaceful than it did before. That's another way of sayings it changed the world for me. :)

I left her office feeling like I could take on the world. I'll be making regular appointments with Luna from now on. Highly recommended!

I arrived in Portland on Thursday night for a three day conference. I managed to twist something…read moretraveling that day and by Saturday could barely turn my head to drive. I was desperate to get some relief or I would not have gone to a random massage parlor. I figured that even a mediocre and over priced massage would be better than the shooting pain. So I used the yelp search functionality for places that would be able to get me in after seven pm. May had positive reviews and I called. How fortunate that she could get me in! Even though it was late Saturday evening she took her time with me. It was an excellent massage and experience. I felt that she really cared about my pain and getting me relief. She tried a few techniques that I have not had before including cupping. Beware, this will leave ugly marks on your skin for a week. She gave a few exercises to try to help loosen the tight muscles for after care. I did experience relief! I would definitely recommend May! She was concerned, dedicated and capable. It was reasonably priced as well. I've visited my chiropractor a few times since and he was surprised that as bad as I was, I said I had been worse over the weekend. He was able to readjust me fairly easily since May had worked me over. Thank you, May!!!

The scalp treatment was a bit uncomfortable. My scalp did look healthier after the treatment but I'm sure that had to do with the wash and scrub. No styling afterwards also. I hope this review is heard by the owner and they make some changes.

The first time…read moreI showed up for my appointment, they insisted that I was at the wrong time, and I could not return at the different time they claimed. They reset me for two days later. At that appointment, the massage therapist asked me how often I wanted to come. I suggested weekly due to my pain, and he cautioned me against it, saying that my authorization was just or 12 visits, and that would burn through them in 3 months. The next appointment, I received a personal text that morning, claiming that they had a family member in the hospital and needed to cancel. The message said they would reach out to reschedule. After waiting a week and hearing nothing, I called them, and they rescheduled me. On the day of that appointment, they cancelled again, claiming that the massage therapist was sick. I rescheduled. On the day of the next appointment, they cancelled by text yet again, once again with an excuse. I rescheduled for today (2 weeks later) because I was going to be out of town last week, which they said they understood. Today when I checked in, they told me that my appointments were only authorized to attend every week, and since I did not come every week, my unused weeks would be cancelled. I objected, and they insisted that this was what had been stated all along. I gave up and left. I promptly reported them to the VA for treating Veterans dishonestly and avoiding care. They told me to go ahead and report them, and go ahead and leave negative reviews, so here I am. These people are not honest. I can only guess that they jerked me around because the VA pays the an agreed amount that is lower than their full standard rates.
