My first visit here was preempted by a last minute Xmas tree bartering incident. You see, I moved to London so close to Christmas and was spending the holiday away from family for the first time in my life... so my heightened need of finding normalcy at any cost (or travel time) brought me here in search of ornaments. Any. Ornaments. Of course, they were completely out of stock of most Christmas related items and what they did have were broken shards of ornaments that would only fit on a Charlie Brown tree, but all that Homebase was missing from a large American store was the smell of popcorn wafting down the aisles. And hey, though I went home ornamentless, I did find a pretty stellar tree stand, so there's a positive. Since then, Homebase has done me well. I'm often in need of some strange party supply: meshed fairy lights, spray paint, Duct tape, a megaphone, bleach, I could go on... and though as Rob points out, many times the basics are about as good quality as the previously mentioned ornaments, it does the trick in a pinch. I made a dreary mistake in previously buying a futon for all of my expected "out-of-towners" to sit and sleep on...they never came. I was left with a very uncomfortable to sit on futon. I was in desperate need of a new corner sofa. After checking several of the big stores online, I saw a couple that fit the bill and headed here to Homebase to see which colour I wanted and which was most comfortable. After some very friendly help from one of the customer service agents, I had found my new comfort spot. A nice sofa with attached chaise lounge now resides in my living room. The couch was delivered to my flat within 8 days and only cost £6!!! The delivery guys were even nice enough to haul it up a set of stairs for me. What I didn't know is that Homebase is part of Argos, which really surprised me, as I had a great experience with Homebase where I have not had such the pleasure with Argos. Will definitely come back for future home needs. read more

We had to return something bought online which was not suitable and find some new kitchen tiles. The service is exceptional, it was quick and friendly, to return our goods. As we waited at the Customer Service Desk, for our turn, the check out girl called us over as she said she can do returns too! What a good service. We noted there were an array of everything you would want for the home, not just DIY stuff, and there was a whole section of Christmas goodies too. Everywhere you turn there were friendly and helpful staff to answer your queries. It is free to park for 1 hour for shopping at Homebase and 2 hours at Sainsbury's, at the same car park. Just get the parking slip stamped at check out. read more

Homebase is back !!!!! I have been a frequent shopper for years and how good to see the store now returning to its pre-Bunnings high standards. Margaret and Peggy always friendly and helpful and the Manager working on his day off says everything about how this store is now operating. A real pleasure every visit. read more

NEVER BUY A KITCHEN FROM HOMEBASE!!! Ordered a new kitchen in November, it is now June! We still do not have a full kitchen as every single attempted delivery has been damaged (All six of them). The kitchen was wrongly designed by Homebase, when I pointed this out to them they accused us of being wrong then realised their mistake and tried to charge us to get a redesigned kitchen we would be happy with. Rather than paying them anymore money we accepted a new kitchen design we were really unhappy with but as half of kitchen was already installed we thought this was the best out of the bad options we had as we were about to get locked down with no kitchen facilities. At the time we didn't realise the hell we would be left with as we had no sink or kitchen storage as the corona crisis started, so we were forced to clean kitchen utensils in the bathroom and couldn't bulk buy in a time when grocery shopping was near on impossible. Added to that they will only deliver during business hours so the wages we have lost add up to more than the kitchen cost. We are now left trying to get compensation and our remaining items, their escalations department is not accepting emails, the store manager at Penge store is incompetent and CEO's response email promises results each time but you get nowhere. read more

How is this place not out of business yet? Is competition that lacking in Hampstead/West Hampstead? Continuously out of stock of the basics, this place limps by only by virtue of having a large store and some chance of finding a way to work around what they're missing. Lousy all around. A fast food hardware store. Everything is prepackaged and so you can't buy only 4 screws or a single sheet of sandpaper. V wasteful!

It's good for what it is and it's quite big. We bought our 2011 Christmas tree here as the Hampstead Garden Centre has been closed down (due to greedy landowners). It actually was reasonably priced and lasted so gotta give them good marks for that. We've also had to have some boards cut and they were quick and measured perfectly. read more

Homebase is conveniently located behind the O2 Centre on Finchley Road. It sells everything you could want for the home, from plants to furniture and kitchens. The staff are knowledgeable most of the time and quite helpful. There discount days are also really great and should be taken advantage of, particularly if you are planning any sort of DIY. Homebase also sell great Christmas trees so it is worth checking those out this December, staff are also helpful with getting it put into the car, which is always a bonus as you do not want to be doing in your back! read more

This company are a disgrace to the retail sector. We purchased goods to the value or £225, these goods did not arrive as per the order so we sourced them elsewhere. After two years we are struggling to get our monies back after being told a credit note was in the post. After being assured we were getting our monies back we are now told we would have to go to court to get back what is rightfully ours. To top it off we had this guy called "Eddie" who tried to resemble a club bouncer more than a storeman call me and my wife "Shady". He quickly tried to retract his comments after we challenged them. If this company along with its subsidiary Argos go out of business I'll find it hard to be bothered about their loss. We wonder how many other customers monies HomeBase have had for NOTHING! As a matter of principle we are suing Homebase for our amount £225 + costs + Defamation of character. read more

The most horrible experience with my kitchen. I purchased my kitchen from Homebase Finchley Road. When it reached me, my plumber had so much trouble assembling it. The measurements taken were not accurate and I ended up with lots of problems trying to fix what they gave me. This is an experience which will certainly not be repeated. Totally disappointing! read more
