Troy runs a good business. Very professional and come when he says he will. He installed a new back door in my house. His communication was perfect. work was done very nicely and he cleaned up after the job was done. I highly recommend! read more

I called to have our old Gorilla play set removed and disposed of. Part of the job was to include construction of the new Gorilla play set we have purchased for our boys for a Christmas present. My husband and I (of course) are trying to find not just the most reasonable price for our family to complete the job, but a company/service that we can trust in. Right away Troy (the owner) expressed he was "uninterested in doing a written estimate to compete with fly by nights guys." He would instead give a verbal estimate then return with a contract for us to sign (requesting a $100 deposit thereafter) solidifying. The contract, he assured, "would detail everything." Signing a well-done fair contract for this job isn't what alarmed me. This is a project we are committed to for our kids. What alarmed me was Troy's insistence we sign immediately upon receiving the contract with him there and without time to go over it in private as a family. I expressed I was uncomfortable signing anything especially a contract without proper time to go over it in private with my husband. Troy responded, "Why don't you let me meet your husband and I go over it with your husband and explain it all." It was rather demeaning. And he completely missed the point. I explained again, we should be allowed time as a family to go over the contract its details, discuss it, and go over our budget and decide in private without him present. We should, as consumers, be allowed time to consider other services and estimates/contracts given to us, and all contracts in private, so we can find the right company for the job. Doing so is every consumer's right. Troy didn't like this idea. So, he said, "You know what, I can tell you're nervous, so I'm going to pass on this job." Of course I'm nervous signing a contract with someone peering over my shoulder! You're damn right I'm hesitant around someone wanting me to sign something immediately. Of course I'm nervous around someone not allowing me time to read the details on my own and consider the best option for our family budget in private with my husband. And of course I'm nervous around someone who pressures our family not find the best price for our job, but rather just commit to his contract! Horrible. I will not be calling Home works Handyman Services for any other project, because of the amount of ridiculous pressure he imposed. It was similar to a shady salesman looking to quickly bind you into a contract you don't understand nor had time to properly read and consider. I'm glad Troy passed. Perhaps he passed, because he realized we weren't the family to dupe into signing something without proper consideration. I can only imagine what he would charge... He has every one in the book, bad weather, suppliers fault, family is ill, workers didn't show up, etc. Called and spoke with him dozens of times and still my lift is not working right, it is not level front to back and side to side. My $95,000.00 dollar boat can't be used at low tide because he set the limit switches incorrectly. He messed up the cables and now has just disappeared. Working with Troy has been great! He listened and asked questions to understand what we wanted for our bathroom and laundry room remodel. He answered all of our questions. After we talked over the project, he gave us a verbal estimate for labor. We thought about the estimate for 2 weeks before letting Troy know we wanted to move forward. There was no pressure. Next, we moved to the contract phase where he came to our home. We reviewed the contract and then signed it. Even after you sign the contact, in the state of NC you have 3 days to cancel this type of contract. Troy kept us informed on the progress of the work and kept in touch when there was a delay. He arrived each day as promised. Troy is honest, dependable, hardworking. He does not compromise to hurry or cut corners. He knows his trade and will let you know if there is an issue. For example, he found that there were no electrical boxes in the walls when he removed the wall light fixtures. He explained that this was a fire hazard and not to code and would not install the new fixtures until her had installed the electrical boxes. I appreciate that he thinks 'safety first'! Troy is a gem and well worth every penny we paid for his services. read more

We hired Troy to redo a master bath. Removed an old 90's jacuzzi tub and a small closet shower. Installed a 5x4 2 headed shower. Also installed a ceramic floor. We could not be happier, fair price, great work, always clean and neat. We were so pleased on how this came out a month and a half later we brought him back to do the other 2 baths. This company is excellent. The owner tore down our rotten deck and built a lovely new one as well as a railing inside our garage for the 3 steps leading from door to floor of garage. He hauled off old materials and cleaned up well after himself. He showed up when he said he would and was a pleasure to be around--very polite. We have already hired him again to replace an old shower door in our master bath. I would highly recommend him to anybody. This man can do anything! read more
