    Top Level Construction

We hired Top Level construction to renovate our Kitchen and three bathrooms with a baby on the way…read morein two months. Our goal was to finish prior to the baby coming and they exceeded our expectations and finished early. What can normally be a very stressful time, our renovation was a positive experience with a lot less stress than I anticipated. Attention to detail and a sincere motivation to do things the right way is how I would describe Igor and Vitali from Top Level Construction. A lot of the time these days you will hire a contractor or someone to do work around your house and they will do the minimum to make it work and usually cut a lot of corners. Igor and Vitali truly care about the level of their work and building things to last so there won't be issues in the future. An example of Vitali and Igor going above and beyond is when we decided to put 'Ohi'a posts in at the kitchen Island and they had to cut the countertop and tile around the uneven surface. It took a bit longer but the final product looks amazing! They even joked that they could install irrigation to water the trees if we wanted.. Igor could be a team lead/foreman himself as he showed so much skill as the understudy to Vitali. Whenever a challenge arose (which always happens in construction) they would always have great budget-friendly solutions to move the project forward. As the PM, Oleh, helped sort through everything with us as well. If we have future work that needs to be done on our house we won't look anywhere else. I genuinely would like to thank the Top Level team for everything!

We hired Rudenko Construction, dba Top Level Construction, to fully renovate our daughter's…read moreone-bedroom condo--and we couldn't be happier with the results. The project included a full down-to-the-studs kitchen remodel, extensive work in the bathroom, complete removal of the popcorn ceiling, new luxury vinyl plank flooring throughout, brand-new doors, and two fresh coats of paint on every wall. We got three bids, and Top Level was competitively priced. Their bid was also by far the most detailed--almost a line-item outline of the entire scope of work--which gave us a clear understanding of what to expect and a lot of confidence in their process. They came out on a Thursday to look at the unit and had demo work underway by the following Tuesday. That quick turnaround and level of responsiveness gave us a great first impression--and they kept that momentum throughout the entire job. The crew, all Ukrainian craftsmen, were hardworking and professional. Their work ethic really stood out. Dima, the project manager, was fantastic--always in touch, always on top of the details, and great about communicating both progress and any unexpected issues as they came up. His professionalism and steady presence gave us a lot of peace of mind. The quality of the work exceeded our expectations, and just as important, the project was completed on schedule. Our daughter absolutely loves her new space--it feels brand new and completely her own. We're really happy with how everything turned out and would confidently recommend Rudenko Construction / Top Level Construction to anyone looking for reliable, high-quality renovation work.

Reached out to Jason of 3 4 5 Construction Repairs and he quickly responded and we set up a site…read morevisit and my request for drywall in a small studio. He inspected the site and indicated he would provide me with an estimate which was received in a timely fashion. Jason got started and it was evident that he was passionate about his work and kept things tidy. I was able to pay him in increments as he requested and used electronic payment which was very convenient and secure. He completed the project in a very reasonable timeframe and I was quite pleased with his work and work ethic. Not sure how much a contractor would've charged but I was pleased with the job and the reasonable price I paid. I'd highly recommend Jason as a handyman and would use him again if the need arises.

VERY professional and considerate. Not only did he complete variety of projects (wood repair, trim…read morereplacement, ceiling fan upgrade, painting) for the interior and exterior of my old house perfectly in Keaau, but ALSO will go out of his way to accommodate personal preferences such taking shoes off at the entrance, work around my baby boy's nap time, and even took on additional projects last minute. Just as other reviews have stated, he's great. Ignore the one negative Yelp review listed,, "Don't tell him anything,,,he cause family rift". That neg Review makes no sense, because Handyman is there to fix your house, not a bartender to vent your family secrets. (LOL)

    Tropical Air Conditioning

I do not recommend or be cautious with this business…read more In May, 2022, they provided and installed our door monitor and receiver, tiny pieces of a unit (by Coastal Green Air, now Coastal Climate Control) and no more than an hour to install but for more than $800; the unit stopped working within a few months while we were off island (for comparison, our previous door monitor and receiver worked for about a decade and a half); we reported the issue to Tropical Air Conditioning right before the expiration date, a day or two after our arrival during our last trip to the island; they suggested they change the battery for almost $200 indicating that it would be difficult for us to do it ourselves; (we did not think the issue was the battery, nonetheless) we changed the battery but the unit still did not work so we contacted Tropical AC again; they declined to honor the warranty saying it was past the expiration date (even though our initial report was prior to then); I asked to appeal to the owner, Doug, and to Joe, the owner of Coastal Climate Control, our situation and to get back to me. It has been almost 3 months and, thus far, not even a courtesy call/email from them. Tropical AC also keeps pushing their service maintenance agreement. The times I called, first off, they would allude that I should not expect prompt service from them because we are not subscribed to their maintenance program, that they could give priority to us only otherwise. You be the judge but do you agree that (their quote from last year) a minimum of 3 hours @ $213 per hour for overtime troubleshooting and, for holidays, a minimum of 3 hours @ $283.50 per hour are exorbitant? What if the job takes only an hour or less? The reason for writing this review is twofold: as a public-service notification to proceed with caution with this provider; and to, hopefully, get them to get back to us with a resolution to our predicament. Doug and Melissa, with faith that you have the character to make this right (and that perhaps this simply fell through the cracks), how do you plan to do that?

Do not use this HVAC business. During a service visit their technician installed an oversized…read morefilter and accordingly left the HVAC access cover off. This was allowing outside air to directly enter into the system causing our system to work longer and use excess electricity. This situation existed for nearly two months until I noticed the situation. The owner offered no explanation for why the tech did this and only offered a "half hearted" apology. Tropical Air obviously does not care about its workmanship nor the customer.
