We interviewed three agencies and were instantly impressed with Brightstar. Jean, the owner was professional, open, and made us feel she was truly listening and understood our issues. One of the other agencies was over 30 minutes late for the initial interview (with no phone call). We were assigned Gwen. She is amazing! She is extraordinarily kind, patient, and reliable. I wish we could have her 7 days a week-she only works 3 of our days (11am-7pm). She has become mom's friend as well as caregiver. She ensures mom is stimulated mentally, physically active, fed, cared for, showered, etc. She brushes and curls her hair. She takes her for walks, rides in the car, reads with her, plays word games, and talks to her. The caregiver we have the other days of the week is also very kind, reliable and caring. She is a little less assertive than Gwen and lets Mom manipulate her into letteing her be lazy, but she also provides excellent care. We are now going to move to 7 day/week care and I hope that our secondary caregivers will be just like Gwen. They aren't the least expensive, but they are the best! Highly recommend.

This company was not able to provide professional care. The RN that was assigned to me case was…read morefantastic to say the least. Unfortunately I only saw her once a month. The problem is with their CNAs. I receive care due to Parkinson's, Stroke, and a bad back. Their duties included helping with personal hygiene, breakfast, assist in dressing, and light house cleaning. I also asked that they help by putting cream on my legs and feet. I had many different CNAs with this company. Almost all of them were useless. Their average day was making breakfast and washing dishes. The rest of the time was spent sitting on the couch. I fell in the shower and was calling for help. The aid didn't hear me calling for help because she was sleeping on the couch. I was constantly told about her other client in which included the man's name and where he lived. This made me question what he was told about me. I was accused of being racist along with everyone that came to visit while the aid was here. One of the guest is a preacher. She did do a great job of keeping the couch from floating away. One of the aids would complain if there were more than a few dishes from the night before. My guests quit coming over when she was here. She did bare the bare minimum of breakfast, dishes, and cream. Housecleaning was neglected but the couch stayed grounded. The last CNA left my house on a Monday. I was called by the company and was notified that the aid would not be returning because she didn't want to make the trip to Valpo. The company could not provide a replacement or substitute. I went a week without receiving care. There are many more horror stories but this should be enough to discourage anyone from seeking care from this company.

And told me that I was not eligible for new supplies at that time. But that I would be in a week or so. Well June goes by, then a few more weeks into July, NO CONTACT FROM APRIA. So I called them, they tell me sorry about not contacting me and that I would get my supplies in 7-10 days. well 7-10 days went by and still no supplies! Now we are into August still NO SUPPLIES! Then I get a call that I haven't met my deductible...Really? I have never had a deductible in all the years that I received my supplies from my Doctors office now I have one? And the price they gave me was full retail, now I have a Platinum Insurance Plan With Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois PPO. And I have never paid a deductible EVER to any doctor office!!! Guess this company lost a customer and the only reason they get 1 star is because I have to give them something!!!
