Bridgend Designer Outlet, or McArthur Glen, as some people still seem to know it, is a strange…read moreplace just off the M4 heading towards Bridgend. I remember when it first opened; it was very, very exciting. For the first time South Wales has a selection of designer outlet stores, ranging through everything. From Cadbury to M&S, from Revlon to Whittard, and from Cotton Traders to Animal. The choice was endless. Then the excitement soon wore off, when we realised that these were just normal high street stores with things either substandard or just a little bit cheaper. This is a collection of all that is unwanted from the other shops. That being said, you can pick up some really good bargains from this place, especially from Bookends and some of the sports and camping gear shops. This is a good place to come to if you're after functional items, but not really the kind of place which is going to wow you with its selection of wonderful boutiques. There is also a cinema and food court on site, so you can make a day of it (if there's really nothing better to do). This place getting heaving when it's raining outside.

This is outlet store is both fantastic and highly annoying at the same time. Firstly if your after…read moreanything outdoorsy then this is a fantastic place to come, there are loads of stores dedicated to walking, skying ect. If you are shopping for fashion I would say don't bother. There are the likes of Gap, CK where you can get some decent basics but not really your going out on Saturday night stuff. Gift shopping is pretty good here and I also seem to make a trip up at Christmas time. Its only 20 minutes from Cardiff so worth a trip and there's plenty of parking and open late for hassle free shopping. Its also has a large food court with KFC, Pizza Hut, Jacket Potatoes, Pies, a cafe and more.

I thought a weekend driving round the Somerset countryside would be most relaxing. Little did I know that Clarks had decided to build a huge outlet park in the middle of nowhere!! Then to add insult to injury, they charge you to park in the car park!! To be fair, there is a huge range of shops here with anything from Adidas to Next to Waterford Wedgewood. The discounts ranged from very generous to none and like most outlet places, you have to search hard and be disciplined to find true bargains rather than just buying rubbish because it's cheap and never wearing it If you feel your fuel levels flagging, there are food outlets like Burger King around OK I confess I did buy some shoes from Timberland and had to be dragged out of Le Creuset before I did something my credit card would regret! For you men, if you want to avoid shopping in the Mendip Hills, don't go to Street!

I really feel as though I shouldn't like this shop, but I do. I really, really do. Darn it…read more Home Bargains has shunted its way into the spaces left behind by the like of Hyper Value and Woolworths, and is very much like a cross between the two of them. And yet what it has to sell is surprisingly practical, they have good brands and cheap prices. And while they probably won't ever have everything that you're looking for, what they do have it worth the venture in to find it. What separates this from some of the other stores of similar ilk is the alcoholic section. or students or BBQs, or Christmas time and genearl celebrations, this is a wonderful place to pick up an interesting and cheap array of alcohol and snacks. In short, we don't want to love it, but we do.

The shop stocks everything you need for yourself and your home. I find the toiletries there are so cheap compared to other places and there is a good variety. There is also a good choice of toys for your children at the moment they have some great outdoor toys ready for the summer. I can spend hours looking around as there lots of great offers on including cheap bedding and accessories for your home.I find the prices in there are very cheap. The store is well laid out and it is easy to find what you're looking for and if you can't find something the staff are happy to help you. Sometimes in the weekend it can get quite busy so you have to queue but it's like that in most places.
