On the main floor, they've got fiction, a teen area, all the media, and a bunch of areas to sit and relax and read. They've got the largest children's room around by far! Oh my goodness! They've got iPads, large research computers, the small computers for the little little ones, and even a 3D printer! It's so cool! Downstairs they've got the computers and non fiction, along with a few rooms for meetings and such. It really is a beautiful place.

Being able to request materials using the cwmars system gives access to a large network of libraries, so building size is not important to me. They have a terrific exchange program so you can take classes at any of them. It's a small school, perhaps 500 per class. Many go abroad for Junior year. It has a diverse student body, both across the US and the world.

White trim and white roof, it's easy to spot against the greenery and the brown paint of the school. Inside, two low shelves that were packed with mostly children's reading. Lots of magazines and light reading, excellent considering the location. This library does not appear on the Little Free Library map or database, so I don't know who the steward might be. They have an incredible collection of leisure books be they fiction or non-fiction. They have an entire floor in the basement dedicated for children. Their movie collection is also impressive (and I personally found it more rewarding than the library for Mount Holyoke College). If only I had known earlier... The only caveat to Gaylord is its limited hours. They are only open Thursday 1:00 pm -8:00 pm, Friday 10:00 am - 5:00 pm and Saturday 10:00 am - 12:00 pm so that maybe a little inconvenient. However, it is mostly run by volunteers and with a limited budget, I guess there is nothing much to be done. But it is really very easy to get a free membership and just drop by every now and then to pick up some good reads. This place also has weekly/monthly events for interested locals both young and old. They also have workshops for origami, knitting, etc. and various book clubs and teas. I still remember running by the library on warm summer afternoon and browsing through the shelves of romantic novels. So, I am putting this word out there mostly for my sisters in Mount Holyoke, and also the residents of the area: if you have not visited Gaylord library, you are missing out on a very good part of South Hadley.
